I visited the Dick's Sporting Goods in Sanford, Florida today to try on tennis shoes and planned to purchase multiple pairs along with athletic apparel. When I tried on a display shoe, a sales associate abruptly approached me and told me I was not allowed to try on display shoes because customers might later ask for discounts. His tone was rude and dismissive. When I asked for the a shoe in a different color and size, he refused, saying "you have already tried on that shoe and they are all the same." I requested a manager, but was told the manager was "in a meeting" and unavailable. Feeling disrespected, I left the store without making my purchase. I've shopped at Dick's for years, but this visit was extremely disappointing. I hope this location addresses the issue so other customers do not have the same experience. read more

This Dick's Sporting goods store in Sanford is gigantic! If you can't find what you're looking for, it doesn't exist. The store is kept very organized and clean. My husband and I were in here a few days ago to purchase some of those handsome vented shirts for him and was greeted right away by an employee who was friendly and ready to help us. Organized and clean. Wish they had a larger selection of Urder Armour clothing. I was at least able to find my husband a couple of pairs of new shorts. Also was able to come in and find the Nikon binoculars with ease at a price cheaper than I could find them online. The only employee we encountered was the one who checked us out. So my insurance won't cover simple things for a foot injury, like yknow an orthopedic boot or a figure eight ankle brace. If they do it will be overwhelmingly overpriced. So. I'm lucky that the guys at Jewett suggested going here to get my post orthopedic boot! (Whoo! Finally out!). I came here to get an ASO Speed Lacer - I found one from Shock Doctor - the 851 Ultra Wrap Lace Ankle Brace (Level 3 Maximum support). It was ridiculously priced at $45 & Amazon had it at $27.48 - which do your research because Dick's price matches. So yay! The only reason I'm taking off a star was because no one helped me or asked why I gimping around the store or even batted an eye when I tried it on. So beware, you are by yourself in your search. I came in for shoes and to deal damage to my bank account. I left with what I needed - and experienced a building great staff members. After browsing shoes for awhile, I was again greeted and offered assistance by Antonio - who then proceeded to check shoe inventory and sizes available for me back and forth about 10 times because inventory was out of stock for my top 10 choices. (Could be school/common price range) Antonio even explained gel-inserts and that they had some available to try them while trying out a new shoe. Antonio and the rest of the staff (including Alexis and the shift manager) are excellent. read more

Dick's Sporting Goods has always been one of my favorite department stores for things related to sports. This location is a great representation of the brand, the customer service here is probably the best I've experienced at any of their locations. The store was very clean and organized and the checkout process was a breeze even with the Christmas Eve rush. The parking can be a little challenging at times. read more

Their selection of shoes is horrible. Mostly Nike's and very few other brands. Also, no one around to offer assistance. Even workout clothing is very limited. I really miss Sports Authority. I will be buying my sports and workout gear elsewhere from now on. read more

Every single time I have come here, the customer service is very poor. Tonight, I came to get my son cleats, because Academy didn't have his size. I looked at an employee in the eye across the isle saying I have a quick question looking for cleats. Shopping here is a pleasant experience. Store is well kept, organized, and there are plenty of employees. I went to the Sport's Authority in Altamonte yesterday and was traumatized by how ratchet it was. Today's visit to Dick's more than made up for it. I purchased lots of items at clearance prices (50% off the sale price!). I got North Face fleece bottoms for $15, a North Face t-shirt for $4 (75% off the sale price!), and several more items at great prices. My cashier was very friendly as well. So, why 4 stars and not 5? My husband bought a pair of Asics for $60, but an hour later we went to Gander Mountain and found the EXACT same pair for $50 :( read more

As a sporting goods store, this place is alright. As a gun shop, no. I need to keep reminding myself this is a sports store that sells guns, not a gun shop. I once called this Dick's Sporting Goods to inquire about purchasing an extra magazine for my AR-15, and was then given a rundown of all the hunting and rifle magazines that they carried, but told that they didn't have any magazines for AR-15's specifically. It was at this point that it was suggested that I try Barnes n' Nobles. I was confused for a second, then asked if he was talking about paper magazines or actual gun magazines. Mind you, this was not just the front desk on the other end, but the actual gun counter that I had been transferred to. Yeah... It was here that I hung up and went to Al's Army Navy, a place where the employees actually know a bit about weapons and firearms. As far as customer service, it's spotty. I came in here one time and bought almost $300 worth of ammo, however, that was only after the guy behind the counter had already ignored me for five minutes before then immediately jumping up to help someone else who had just walked up. I know I look like a young kid who he most likely assumed wasn't going to buy anything and would just be a waste of his time while the other gentleman probably looked like a legit sale, but the employee almost lost that big sale for his store. If they weren't the only place around with that ammo, I would have walked out. Incidentally, the guy who got immediate help ended up not buying anything. So to the ASSociate who decided not to be bothered by my "looks-like-he-won't-spend-any-money" self, if you insist on judging a book by its cover, you should learn how to size up your customers a bit better.
