My home was severely damaged by the Exxon Explosion in Baytown Tx, December 23rd, 2021, and I made the absolute worst mistake of my life hiring The Dick LAW Firm after he reached out to me after the explosion. Since I signed up to have him represent me and having assured me, he would see that Exxon and other Contract companies involved in the explosion were held liable and paid for my damages. ERric Dick then sent an independent home inspection company to my home to estimate damages to my home and property which was over $200,000 in damage directly caused by the Exxon explosion. Since that day 4 years ago after I have consistently made hundreds of phone calls, sent emails and have gotten nothing but a generic response email stating "these cases take time and Dick Law firm is committed to your case" Meanwhile I have had to pay out of pocket many thousands of dollars to just get my house in livable condition. Dick Law Firm has NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN REACHED OUT VIA EMAIL recently after providing me with absolutely NO adequate LEGAL COUNSEL or ADVICE in 4 YEARS or even returning phone call or email and sent me Paperwork to Sign Totally Releasing EXXON and two other Subcontractors from all Liability and sign a TOTAL Release in exchange for approximately $30,000 to be paid at $3,000 a month until paid IN FULL. DICK's email ALSO STATED THIS RELEASE HAS TO BE SIGNED IMMEDIATELY and when I called to ask him questions regarding this release, and why it's so low and why if I refuse to sign my case would be dismissed, I get no answers, no return emails and no return phone calls. cant give it a lower start than 1 star because if i could give it 0 stars or negative 10 stars, I would! I have been waiting for over 10 years on my settlement. Last year the insurance company finally settled. This law firm kept calling me over and over to sign the new settlement and then when i finally received the documents to go over, they kept calling me every day to sign them over and in the documents, they stated that they would be keeping a huge part of the check but that i would be getting a percentage. I signed the documents and at least i was going to get something from it (HUGE LIE). It's been over 1 year and i used to call them at least once a week to which i never got a follow up call, then i called at least once a month and still havent gotten a call back to see where my very small percentage of the settlement is at!!! its not just frustrating that when they needed me to sign the settlement they kept calling me over and over but now that they owe me my share, they dont answer their calls nor do they have the common curtesy to return calls even after getting dozens of calls over the last year. I am starting to think that they not only kept the large part of the settlement but they also kept my small percentage of the settlement as well. I am hoping that one day they read this and have an ounce of regret and actually make it right for not just me but it appears that its for many other people who trusted them in making things right. read more

I am going to continually complain about this law firm so that no one else will get ripped off. I think I need to call the TV so that the commercials will stop and I would advise people to call their insurance companies to find out what amount they stole from them. Update on my previous review....most if the took place in emails today... Eric Dick is and has been swindling his clients. He just swindled me out if my entire settlement by fraudulently using my roofing claim and the adjusters estimate outlining the roofing settlement which I settled with the insurance company and replaced my roof prior to hiring him for the remainder of the unpaid claim. A severe storm went through two weeks ago and Jim Elmore of that Firm confirmed my claim of approximately 80k had been settled and gave me to extension numbers for their accounting department I made several calls to both extensions for a week when two days ago Gracie answer and confirmed once again my case was settled but it would be paid until Mid-June. The I received an email from Brian, the paralegal stating I would receive payment in approximately a week. This is when he prepared the fraudulent settlement and sent it in in the firm if an email. In this fraudulent settlement he paid himself and an estimator in his office fake fees and said there was zero recovery and released me from the contract. Steve Badger a partner at Zelle law firm in Dallas who posted the Sanction Oder on his LinkedIn account attempted to help me recover the monies prior to Dick falsifying the records. Dick was Sanctioned twice within 3 months the second in October of 2023. I would say minus one star.. he done to us as the same as the other negative reviews in corruption misleading clients reporting to bar association really does no good he with held check for say made excuse then his first check bounced stated arguments which caused me to go into dept. Owning bank fees and late fees and more ect ect. Which causing soon to be homeless due man actions and refusing to may the fees accumulated due to his mishandling of clients funds in settlement then trying.lie way out it and he not report or return calls about the case and he took 90% of check after tried fixing to bounced check for fees and bogus fees for himself apparently he has huge history doing this please don't trust this law firm..do your research which I should have now having to file lawsuit against him but in the mean time also losing our home due to his actions and deceit and having staff lie also..now said acct closed second check was from same acct.. same number but blatantly lied about it which caused my bank to deduct this from my acct.. nightmare and worse trying to get another attorney to take up this case file suit against him so having to file myself. And contact anyone who listen in attorney general office and attachments also his past clients he done this to as well and more he should not be lawyer or allowed practice anymore unethical.. and not give correct answers to bar association. I feel bad for you if you are reading this after you decided to sign with Eric Dick and the Dick Law Firm. I trusted that advertisement meant he was reputable. Wrong. The intake person was so nice and listened to every little detail. Then I signed up. When you get a message from your attorney stating that your settlement will be charged a fee for asking what is going on with your claims and there is absolutely no communication from anyone on the team, red flag warning. What has changed Eric Dick from having a decent reputation to taking insurance settlements from people who can't afford to fix the damage from storms to their house? I've been living in my damaged house from both freezes for 3 yrs. I've been waiting (because that's what Eric Dick said to do..."It takes time," he said in an email. That's all he said. His communications are about 3-5 words in length. Now I find out after putting my foot down and sending an email stating that his firm have totally left me in the dark, there is no communication about anything, they've left me idle, they give me the runaround, and they aren't representing my claims they could at least be professional and let me know. I look at my insurance and see that my insurance sent Dick Law Firm 2 paper checks ( I chose direct deposit), and have been holding them (Eric Dick probably cashed them already according to all of these other people), for 8 months while I sit in my house with no drywall, no flooring, holes in my cabinets (that the mitigation company drilled to dry water out from the 2nd freeze) and I get about different replies from different people at Dick Law Firm- Jim says nicely, call me for an update, Olivia says she sent an email to Brain on my behalf, Eric says set up a conference call, Brian says, the person that can write me a check has quit and there's no one to do that yet- he will let me know when it's figured out. His adjusters came out and estimated damages over $150,000 which included remodeling the entire house???? WTF? They are horribly about returning calls, and you have to make a computer appointment to talked to inexperience staff, I was told by Julio that my case was in delegation and I was looking at $87,000 but that the attorney was taking 35% then month's went by I called to ask how case was going ...just to be told by a older gentleman that I had a zero judgement because ALL STATE said I was not living in my home at the time of damage which is a lie , they went by what ALL STATE said and when I asked what about the delegation with the $87,000 he said that that was mistakenly said to me ..that the value of the damage was $87,000. After an insurance company (one of the big 5) low balled my claim after one of Houston's weather incidents, I ultimately went to the Dick Law firm. The insurance company kept sending out their claims adjusters to go against the estimates I had gotten. I filed a law suit using the Dick Law firm. They know how some insurance companies bank on you simple going with whatever the insurance company stiffs you with. The Dick Law firm did get my claim monies paid minus the 33% lawyer firm fee. I rated them 3 stars because I still don't understand why the Dick Law firm did not go after the insurance company for the lawyer fee I had to pay when I never would have needed a lawyer in the first place had the insurance company did the right thing. I asked the Dick Law firm this question and they said nope, we are not going after that 6k in lawyer expenses. I had to sue the insurance company, they settled but I lost 6k in lawyer fees. How is that right? I would ask the Dick Law firm that question before deciding who to go with. read more
