PLEASE READ: Before listening to any of the BS your "Shopping Specialist" will spit out to get you to buy at DIAMONDS INTERNATIONAL, run..and run fast! I fell for the stupid spiel from our Norwegian Cruise Line "Shopping Specialist", Lauren, on the NCL Getaway that Diamonds International is THE place to buy diamonds during our cruise. You get it drilled into your head that it's just about the only place you can trust. WRONG! I never thought I'd fall for all of the glowing remarks and praise by Lauren and all Shopping Specialists on cruises about DI. I sat through the boring shopping talk and between snoozes it leaked into my brain, "Must have diamonds. Must buy at Diamonds International." When we stopped at Costa Maya I took a diamond I had that was set in 18K gold to see what they would give me in trade. They offered $550, which was more than any pawn shop would've paid me, and we had to match that amount to get a new ring. We matched that amount and the salesman, whose name you can't read, swore to us a total of 6 times that the past, present and future ring I was purchasing had a total of 19 diamonds, with the three in the middle being larger. When I got to my cabin and brought out my trusty magnifying glass, it was very clear: They were all the same size, nothing but diamond chips. I should explain that I just had cataract surgery so it was a mistake for me to take his word for anything. I just couldn't see it. I know it was my fault, but Diamonds International's deception was further enhanced in Cozumel. I had gone to Lauren and told her what happened (who reprimanded me for not knowing a certain jewelry maker sold ONLY tiny diamond cluster rings) and said they would take care of it in Cozumel. So my original trade-in ring was gone, they had NO solitaires that were worth $1500 (which is another lie) so I settled on a tanzanite ring with diamonds which was supposedly set in 14K white gold. It turned out to be STERLING SILVER! I had to send it to Orlando to get it fixed, but I don't trust anyone connected with Diamonds International. I am so disgusted by this business and I would be so happy if, by writing this review, even one person uses their head and my words: DON'T fall for the Cruise Lines lies about Diamonds International. They are SO untrustworthy. The staff in Orlando said it was 14K gold and marked it in the shank. They sent me a Statement of Value which totaled $978, even though they supposedly gave me $550 for the ring we brought in, plus $550 additional cash. People, PLEASE read this! Go to the shopping talk just for the freebies they throw into the audience while listening to your headphones. I swear to God every word of this review is true. I am still trying to get this resolved, and today I spoke with CLAUDIO ROMERO at the Cozumel store who promised he would call with a resolution tomorrow. Stay tuned.
