Yesterday was my last visit out of 30, I invested a lot of time in every visit but it was all worth it. I'm really bad with names, but during my visits I got multiple massages by this cuban man and a Venezuelan lady. The cuban would add more pressure and work the muscles, the Venezuelan would be more gentle and relaxing. Both have different styles but my favorite one was when the cuban man would use his elbow. That elbow technique would give me the best results. I told him that massage was an inch close to "torture", since it was painful. He was working deep tissue muscles, so of course it hurt. But the results on the day after were felt. The staff is friendly and they always worked around my busy schedule. The Drs would take their time to explain to me exactly what I had and how to take care of myself. I became more conscious about my pain, body and movement overall and how to take care of my health in the long term. I will visit again when I need a massage for sure.

D & S Holistic center is literally a hidden gem. From the outside, it just looks like a business center, the mysterious type that you can only see your reflection instead of the inside. I went in though and it looked like a doctor's office. Nice welcoming green couch and some chairs and a square window to talk to the employees through on the other side. I caught the director/owner there. His name is Delfi Monteagudo and he specializes in chiropractic treatment, acupuncture, massage therapy and nutrition. So this is not your run of the mill spa. They actually know what they're doing. He was so nice and gave me some pamphlets. They even hold seminars and workshops to teach on aromatherapy, Ayurveda, diets, herbs, etc. Mari, my massage therapists, came out after I had filled in some paperwork to make sure I had no alergies to oils and to find out what areas she needed to concentrate on. She took me into a room that was so nice. Dim lighting, comfortable massaging table with that little circle thing to put your head on. She gave me privacy to undress and once I was ready to go, she knocked and came in. She asked me through out the whole process, if the pressure was okay. She put on some background relaxing music, put some oil on her hands, and got to work. She massaged my neck, my back, my sides, then she went on to my legs and side buttox (hehe) and my feet. My favorite part was when she put these steaming hot towels on my back and pressed down and then rubbed off the oil. So good. The hole in the head pillow stand thingy (sorry for my lack on knowledge on this term lol) was probably a bad idea because I can guarantee I was drooling through my hour massage. Nevertheless, my hour was up and I got quickly dressed to rush to work. I've been in a trance ever since. So calm, and serene (which was the name of my room btw!). They have different tipes of massages ranging from Swedish Aromatherapy, Deep Muscular, Warm Stone, Reflexology, Thia, Shiatsu, etc. An hour message runs at about $100 and an hour and a half at $129. But from day one, all of my worries disappeared. The night nurses, chefs, Ms. Opal, and even the drivers were incredibly kind and welcoming. They truly treat you like family. I can honestly say I didn't want to leave by the end of my stay. The food was so delicious and flavorful -- definitely not what I expected in the best way possible! They have a routine masseuse who comes in daily, which was such a blessing during recovery. The structure and routine of the house is very clear, and I personally loved that. One thing started off bad was that I was not picked up by the staff they just called me an Uber and I was waiting at the airport for over 30 minutes. They say that they take you to all your appointments and drop off your prescriptions and everything you need is taken care of. After my surgery I had a complication and I needed to go back to the clinic. Max had told me she would drop me off but I was responsible for the ride back. This is three days after surgery. I was heavily medicated and could hardly function on my own. I was crying and very upset and had to call myself an Uber to take me back to the house. The traffic is so bad that each way is about an hour even though it's only 12 miles away from the clinic I went to. Then I needed to drop off an additional prescription. She told me she was not going to take me there or drop off the prescription for me and I would have to do it on their own and Uber. I'm walking around in a nightgown heavily medicated stumbling at Walgreens. I developed necrosis after my surgery I asked everyone that was there if it looked normal and they said it was fine I was just part of my healing process. I didn't feel that was accurate. Clearly they aren't experienced or knowledgeable about any type of surgical complications that can happen. They barely even had any supplies that I needed. They have different people working different shifts. It's only one person at a time. It's very hard to get a hold of anyone when you need them. It felt like I was being a nuisance every time I had to call someone to get me something or help me get up out of bed. Every time I needed some thing it seems like nobody knew where anything was. They don't even provide you with a towel and you have to bring your own.They do not have a paging system where you can call for help. They expect you to use your cell phone to send a text message whenever you need them to come for assistance. They say there's 24/7 care however in the middle of the night they're sleeping and there were multiple times where I needed help and had to sit there and text and call when I could hardly move my arms or see straight. They should have someone available to you to help you in the middle of the night. The last day I was there I was crying and begged for the lady to pick up my prescription that I had to drop off on my own. They gave me the feeling that I was all alone and we're not comforting at all. There is one girl name Kendra and she was very nice. Also yvonne was very nice, however again I just felt like it was disorganized and nobody knew where anything was and it was hard to get a hold of them. I really was bothered by the fact that I had to call my own ride to drop off a prescription and get myself back from the clinic. I spent days crying because of my situation and it was almost like they were dismissive of my situation and tried to tell me that I was fine like I was just overreacting. After I got back home I went to the emergency room and I had a severe situation that is requiring me to have reconstructive surgery. I don't know if this is how all the recovery houses are in Miami but unfortunately I cannot recommend this place for someone to recover.
