We desperately needed to change the look of our front yard and had some preliminary discussions with a few landscapers. However, we were not terribly impressed with their approach to our needs. Finally, we met with Ed Hansen, President of Hansen Lawn and Gardens Limited. Ed took the time to listen to our overall expectations and then explain what the possibilities were for our yard and what his team could do for us. I found him extremely knowledgeable, down to earth and very sincere. He had one of his staff draw up a garden plan for us to look at. We were very impressed with the design plan that was presented and after receiving a detailed written estimate, we agreed to have the work done right away. The actual work began within about three weeks. In the meantime, Ed was always available by phone or by mail to answer any questions we had. Planting day had finally arrived and we were just a little anxious. The planting team were very enthusiastic and conscientious. They clearly enjoyed what they were doing and it showed in everything they did. The result is a refreshed and vibrant front flower garden that we are now extremely proud of. We have already had some wonderful compliments from many of our neighbours. The transformation has been outstanding. The refreshed "curb appeal" of our home is far better that we had ever expected. The owner and crew are very kind and approachable. They attempted to make corrections to some errors brought forward but still unsatisfactory. Unfortunately, my experience with them has been disappointing, and I feel it is important for others to be aware. I contracted them for an interior remodel of my home, and having many years of experience working alongside contractors, I can confidently say this has been the most frustrating project I've encountered. Regrettably, the quality of their work has not met industry standards or home inspection requirements. The project, which began mid December, has yet to be completed by mid March, with the upstairs still unfinished. While I understand that remodeling can be time-consuming, the progress made was minimal and did not meet the expected standards for such work. Numerous tasks were poorly executed, including painting, wall installations, flooring, and tiling--each requiring significant correction. In fact, everything (except the vinyl flooring) needs to be redone. After investing a considerable amount of money, I made the difficult decision to halt the project. Based on this experience, it is clear that Spartan Property Maintenance & Landscaping lacks the expertise needed for contracting work. I strongly advise potential clients to seek more experienced and reliable professionals who can complete renovations efficiently, to a high standard, and within a reasonable timeframe. This project, should have taken no longer than three months to complete (stated by another company) yet not even a quarter of the work was done--and much of it was not done correctly. The sod was installed dead, they promised this was normal and it would grow back with watering. After 2 weeks of watering it was still dead and they blamed her and shrugged off the warranty. Patio stones were installed directly on dirt - no gravel, no levelling. They give excuses and run you around but don't stand behind their work. Take a look at the pics and judge for yourself.
