Did not abide by the contract. This job was to be done in 5 days with 60mm Melville stone from Permacon. He talks professional but is not skilled. He was given a very large job here at a very large price and We paid for 1/2, 12K, His job is less than 50% complete and many areas are done poorly. It is a butcher job in my backyard. We could see with the naked eye that the ground is not sloped properly and in one part slopes towards the pool. Due to our concerns and he not agreeing with what we could see, we hired a Landscape Architect to assess the work and give us a report.
Anybody who wants to see my report can message me and I will send it to you. Report reflected a poor job with 30% of stones very poorly cut , ground not leveled properly , poorly laid out stones in areas. Border a different height that main stone, Main stone not what was ordered.
He installed 50mm stones. He suggested a different border stone around the backyard and we agreed this might look good. However, that border is 60mm. So now there is a 10 mm difference. He did not level the ground under the border to accommodate that. Border stones very poorly cut and looks terrible. Our backyard is now a major tripping hazard. 60mm Melville stone was on our contract. We only found this out when we hired the Architect. He did not tell us he used a cheaper stone than what was on contract. Also Border is much cheaper stone and he made suggestion after the quote but did not lower price.
Cannot properly grade a property at all, Reflected in the professional report. but also visible with the naked eye to anybody. Some of the Backyard grade now slopes into the pool. This is a definite bad thing. He will argue with you about it because he doesn't want to have to re-do his mistakes. Tries to get you to believe his way is a better way and he won't warranty unless you do it his way. At one point he said, ok, I wont lay more stones until I have a meeting with both of you. We set up a meeting that night and he did not show up. Showed up the next day and continued to lay stones. Told me he fell asleep, told my husband he was sick.
Did not order all the stone for the backyard even though he was given 12 thousand to do so, (which was more than double what stone was worth.) we will need to purchase more stone and hire somebody to finish this job.
Told us he had skilled workers but in 2 weeks had 1 skilled worker for 2 days, wasted because he did not have all the stone here and told us Supplier shorted him then said supplier was out.
Job that was according to him to be 5 days ( as per contract ) was going in to the third week. He did not show up for work again, finally texted me at noon saying he had truck problems and left his phone at home. I asked him to call me and waited all day, he never called me. I had called several times as did my husband and he never picked up the phone. In his text earlier, He had told me that if his truck wasn't fixed he would get a car and meet with us to discuss the architects report and how it was to be fixed. He set up a time of 6:30. At 6:45 we tried calling and he did not answer his phone. So I reluctantly texted which he replied, he could not get a car. We offered to go to his house to discuss but he said he wasn't at home. He asked me to e-mail him the report and then there was no further text. I requested he tell me how we would proceed and he did not answer. The next day my husband called from an unknown number and he picked up the phone. Husband spoke to him saying we wanted to meet to discuss, He said he would come by that night but again did not show up.
I am left with a totally torn up side yard, pallet garbage on my lawn. He left Stone Dust on the street. He broke 1 of the caps on the retaining wall, took another off to try to match and now have two missing. Backyard is totally incomplete. some areas still with only stone dust. Front steps which he was not supposed to touch until backyard done, left incomplete, missing stones, not sanded and cap wall not repaired, Grass at front of house damaged from them parking at curb and walking on grass. We tried to negotiate a fix with him and after three meetings where he did not show up to discuss, we told him he could not continue here unless he met with us. He was emailed the report on his work and He did not answer 10 phone calls or e-mails. Do not give him any money before starting as you may lose like we did. Some work done is somewhat acceptable but that is a very small part of the backyard. We now need to hire somebody to fix everything and we have no idea yet what the final cost will be. If you choose to use Yard Kings then pay him as work progresses. Joshua was hard working when here, but they are careless, messy and are not knowledgeable or experts in this trade. Chooses to text continually instead of talking with clients face to face or even on the phone. Unprofessional, Untrustworthy, Unqualified! read more
