I was in the ER for 19 hours because they didn't have any beds upstairs. That is unacceptable. But the doctors and nurses did their best to care for me until I could be admitted. Wen was part of the overnight staff and was incredible. The ER was not sanitary. The bathrooms in the waiting room and within the ER especially were not being maintained and I might have contracted the flu from using them. Once I was admitted to the second floor, the levels of care were exponentially better. I had around the clock care and a call button for if I needed anything. They made sure I knew what was happening with my body and gave me full control over my treatment options. The food was surprisingly acceptable; sometimes even good. One thing that I found strange was that I never was told about how billing worked or what my insurance would cover. I am lucky that they are contracted with my insurance and I only owe $50 from the ER. But it is concerning that I never was told about billing while I was there. TLDR: Hire more sanitation workers!

The pre-op process was super smooth -- I got a call a couple of days before my surgery to come in, fill out paperwork, and go over all my pre-surgery instructions. Everyone I interacted with was kind, patient, and made sure I understood everything I needed to know. On the day of surgery, the nurses were amazing! They helped me get ready, checked in often, and made sure I was comfortable while waiting. One even asked if I was cold and offered to warm up my bed -- they hooked up this little tube that blew warm air into my blankets, and it was honestly the coziest thing ever. It really helped calm my nerves. They also let my fiancé stay with me until it was time for surgery, and he had a seat right next to my bed. Later, they showed him where to wait while I was in the OR, which I appreciated. When it was time for surgery, I was wheeled into the OR (which was a bit intimidating -- so bright and white!) but the team moved quickly, and the next thing I knew, I was waking up in recovery. The nurses there were very attentive -- I was in quite a bit of pain and super thirsty, and they immediately helped with pain management and brought me ice chips and water. They even brought my fiancé in to be with me while I waited for my room. After about 40 minutes, I got my own private room, which was great since I needed frequent checks and help moving around. The room itself was clean, though the hospital overall does look a little dated -- some of the furniture had visible wear and tear, but cleanliness wasn't an issue. The only downside was that my room didn't have hand soap or paper towels for almost 5 hours, so I had to use the wet wipes I brought from home. Overall, my stay was comfortable, the staff was caring, and the process was well-organized. I'm healing well and feeling so much better -- really grateful to the team here for taking good care of me.

I am deeply disappointed with the care my father received from Dr. Michael Cao and his office…read more After my father was discharged from the hospital in August 2024, it was urgently recommended that he see a cardiologist due to his heart issues. Dr. Cao saw my dad in September, and a test was conducted soon after. However, when it came to releasing the results or reviewing them for potential risks, Dr. Cao and his office became incredibly uncooperative. Not only did they make it extremely difficult for us to get the test results, but they also caused unnecessary delays for both my father's primary care physician and his high-risk doctor in obtaining critical information. The office staff kept the report from me and my family which I know I have the rights to obtain. After countless of heated arguments with their office staff going back and forth about the results by the time they agreed to send the results it was time to see Dr. Cao for the follow-up. Then Dr. Cao just simply said our case needs to be referred to another specialist when they could've referred us directly to begin with. Despite the urgency of my father's case, it seemed like Dr. Cao was unwilling to prioritize the situation. My father passed away in November 2024 due to cardiac arrest, and I can't help but feel that better communication and more proactive care might have made a difference. I expected better from a cardiologist, especially when my dad's health was at such high risk. Sadly, this experience has been a frustrating and painful one, and I would not recommend Dr. Cao to anyone in need of urgent care. During this time I heard he is the mayor so it seemed like he was too occupied and prioritizing that over the care for his patients.

Dr. Howard Yeh told me to come in 6/16 to determine whether I would need additional chemotherapy. When I arrived for the appointment, he asked me for my PET scan results BUT I had no PET scan results because he FORGOT to authorize a PET scan for me. So I asked him if he could at least tell me the results of the two blood tests he had me take prior to my appointment. But when he looked at the tests, he realized he FORGOT to order cancer markers as part of the blood tests, and instead was only checking white blood cell count. He tried to blame it all on the office instead of taking accountability. I booked a blood test for the next day, but because of Yeh's malpractice, the soonest PET scan appointment I could get was a MONTH later. TOI couldn't do anything to help me so I had to call other places myself looking for a sooner appointment but I would first need to find an appointment, get a new authorization for the new facility, cancel the old authorization, call back the new facility and hope that the appointment didn't get booked in the meantime. The Oncology Institute manager Ana Barrilas said she would everything she could to help me ONLY AFTER I mentioned that taking legal action against Yeh may be necessary. She promised to call me back and told me that I could text her anytime and she would get back to me or have someone at the office get back to me. HOWEVER, most of it was lip service. She wasn't able to get me a sooner PET scan even though this was a result or Dr. Yeh's incompetence. FURTHER, I was the one who had to call her back anytime I wanted an update on anything. She would promise to call me and then leave me hanging for days. Luckily I was able to get a PET scan because another patient cancelled, NOT because Ana did anything to help. Then when I FINALLY got a PET scan, Yeh went on vacation BEFORE looking at the results!!! If you value your physical and mental health, go elsewhere for treatment. Dr. Howard Yeh is incompetent and negligent. Ana Barillas lies and pays lip service in order to try to placate you so that you don't rightfully sue the hell out of their doctors for malpractice and negligence. She does her best to deceive you and appear sincere, but she consistently breaks her word. She doesn't care about you.

Their malpractice and negligence had delayed my cancer treatment by more than a month. Their Mission is completely BS, the doctors/staffs lacks compassion, and the clinic DOES NOT have state of the art medical care. My Oncologist is the worse in every way, I could never reach this guy after hours and weekends because he is not even on the after hours system. Hence, I had to go ER multiple times due to severe pain. Please avoid this place at all cost. Lastly, my recommendation to the upper management is that this doctor along with the rude staffs should all be replaced with people that have compassionate, empathy, kindness and understanding.
