Besides all the basic food items like dairy products, rice, pasta, bread, water, veggies, fruit and household products this shop has a nice selection of meat, fish, seafood and cheese. Get some meat cuts and cheese at the fresh counter. Good quality products for low prices. A great selection of chutneys (perfect to go with manchego cheese) for just 1 Euro a glass as well. Fish, mussels, razor clams, scallops etc. Nice and fresh. This shop here offers really much more than it seems at first glance. Friendly staff as well. You can tell - by the selection and the prices - that this shop doesn't aim for tourists. It's for the local folks. And that's a great thing. Loved shopping here.

Most people shopping at Mercadona have a shopping cart full of bulk items. I'm normally there to buy only a couple of items. Also, Spaniards love Mercadona; it's the new hotness (kinda like the gin/tonic). So, expect the store to be always crowded.
