The Dewey Monument, located in the middle of Union Square, is dedicated to U.S. Navy Admiral George Dewey and commemorates his victory in the Battle of Manila Bay during the Spanish-American War.
It's a very tall monument, 85 feet to be exact, and at the top is The Goddess of Victory statue.
This monument was erected by the citizens of San Francisco in 1988.
