Dear Miami SunPost,…read more I hear that you may be closing your doors and that saddens me. Since 1999, you have been a local, independent paper, geared towards anything Miami and South Florida. You've tried to keep us updated on local happenings, county government dramas, and of course, food and nightlife. The recession is real and seems to have greatly affected your business. I hope that you can keep it together, restructure, and move forward, because you are truly the epitome of the indie paper - free, local, and on point! Best wishes and Good luck! Regards, Sabrina*

Dear Miami Monthly Magazine,…read more I have been reading through your pages for a couple of years now, since I was a Grove Resident. I used to pick you up while walking my dog Fate, tossed on some neighbors lawn who would probably never read it anyhow. I instantly fell in love and knew I had to have more. I caught on to your schedule, and soon learned that they were sent to the residents the last Saturday of the month. I always made sure to walk Fate really early in the morning those days. :) I discovered many little tid-bits and goings-ons from your magazine and was just fascinated to learn so much about my very sexy city! Now I have the pleasure of receiving the magazine monthly at work. It's brought to our Residents in the condo and I always grab a copy. My favorite section by far is "city watch", which is where I pick up on all the tid-bits and goings-ons. You pick highlights of different neighborhoods and important things that may be happening there. It also lets readers know if there have been any important changes in city government in those different areas, things that city hall may want residents to know, etc. The magazine posts great articles about different political issues around town and is not afraid to expose those who do wrong. They also highlight "New Faces" around Miami, which are people who are doing things to make Miami a better place. Thank You Miami Monthly for providing great information about the happenings of Miami's entire metro area. You're doing a great job, so keep it up!!! Lots of Love, Sabrina*

Indeed, I've come across some of the best parks, hiking trails, boating, swimming locations, art and historical sites using Yelp, especially with those items considered matters of "Local Flavor." But to the point, there was a local event that I knew would be covered by local television. Not being much of a television viewer and not even knowing the channels of local stations, I resorted to Yelp. Sure enough, bingo! Up popped a couple reviews of this, NBC 6- WTVJ, which covered the event I wanted and to my delight, did a really good job of it. So, thank you Yelp. You've come through for me again.

Soooo flippin tired of the anti tobacco commercials that they seem to run every 15 minutes. I know the effects from smoking are devastating to all involved but hey, I am over it! Second gripe- why when you have news at noon and then again at 4pm....why, why, why must you break into the 3pm programming so often to give out the exact same news you will give at 4pm and the break in to programming is not life threatening. Do you even care that ELLEN is on and we miss her guests? Like I said, I wish I had another option other than NBC6.

I have to say that the paper adds such value to the neighborhood by chronicling the news of the neighborhoods as well as listing shops and restaurants. Yes, there's the Miami Herald for city reporting, but this is a community newspaper. Now that I live in a house I actually have the privilege of having it delivered to my house for free! I always look forward to reading through the paper and learning about what's happening and what's new. Some of the writing could be better, but I think they are doing a great job for being a small community paper. I have to imagine that it's tough if all of your revenue is based on ads (since the paper itself is free).

For an EDM purist…read morelike myself who grew up going to warehouse raves, who despite being "in my 40's" still puts in for vacation during Miami Music Week and Ultra, this radio station was heaven! This WAS where you could get all the greats (Armin Van Buuren, Pete Tong, etc) and jam out any time of the day. Even when I snuck out for lunch I could still break out glowsticks and rage to any type of obscure trance (real stuff, not David Guetta!) Imagine my disgust when two months back I heard a Rihanna track followed by some nameless pop "star". Compound that disgust when my ears were assaulted by the trashy GT or JT or whatever who used to be on Power 96 along with his annoying "fake news" contest. Come to find out that they now employ a "96" alum and have taken themselves down to that level in order to reach a greater audience. To their credit, they still have some Pete Tong and they have their downtempo EDM "Detox" show, as well as a few classic trance tracks. However, I now find myself switching the dial away more often (yes, I listen to other types of music but there's a time and a place and a mood). I hope they do go back to pure trance, even if they have to go listener-supported.
