We were lured in by equal parts our human acquisitive greed, capitalist monster, and the promise of a 10% off promotion. Of course, I kept telling my husband, "I don't wanna buy anything, I don't need anything ... " Embarrassingly, I walked out with a dress, during which I coaxed him into going upstairs and trying on some stuff. Despite his objections, he couldn't help himself--he saw their incredibly unique and detailed wares, e.g. a denim shirts with pinstripes and topstitching, a pair of jeans funky and fresh with pattern at the waist, and a boho hippie chic emblazoned colorfully patterned, three-tiered dress for me. He ended up getting a few items. We got such ridiculously individualized and attentive customer service. Had it not been for the infinitely patient and curious, friendly young man, fashionably dressed of course, my husband would never have gone upstairs to check out the men's stuff. A young woman at the front of the shop engaged me in one of their denim jackets, which I did not end up buying, but the care was evident throughout our interactions. We got our 10% off, and in addition they directed us to filling out a form so we'd get the taxes back. I wish we'd known that Switzerland does not honor whatever we pay for in Euros ... did I mention that the prices at Desigual are insanely reasonable, especially for the quality and uniqueness, the detailing, all of it is unmistakably the label. read more
