It's definitely got a "country" feel so if you were expecting modern or contemporary things this probably isn't the place for you. It's a pretty big place and actually in two separate buildings. In one building they actually have a small selection of fairly upscale clothing items (now for men and women) and a restaurant, though I haven't eaten there so I can't comment on it. They have probably the best selection of furniture around from several different brands. Some people think it's expensive but I guess it's all relative. If you were comparing this place to Bob's Discount Furniture then yeah it's expensive. But most of it is made domestically and you can order specific types of wood, finishes, hardware, fabrics, etc. just the way you want it. So I put SCB in the "you get what you pay for" category. The people who work there are friendly and helpful. I'm guessing based on the way I'm treated that they don't work on commission but I guess I could be wrong. It can get busy on weekends so it may be hard to get help if it's really busy. But you can usually eventually find someone to take your money. Overall it's a pretty good place if it fits your style.

Owner graciously met me downstairs, removed item from my car and took the time to inspect the item and point out the "gem" I procured as he compared my lounge to the "prefab won't-last-five-years chaise lounges of today. He asked questions on where the item will be stored (high traffic va low traffic areas of home) and when i answered he provided a plethora of fabrics to consider. Most importantly, he did NOT expect full payment that day! Whew!! What a relief. Starting a new business is expensive so not having to make full payment before work commenced made my day. Chair is absolutely a transformation. Comfortable and I can't wait to use as a prop. Love the oatmeal color I chose.

Rachel delivers her work on time, at remarkable value, and is capable of virtually anything you can dream up. A recent example: we have a beautiful George Nakashima table and have always admired the leg support construction. We asked Rachel to build an art gallery-style bench with the same type of support. She simply looked at the table when she was here and, a few weeks later, delivered a stunning Nakashima style bench with exquisite black walnut legs.
