I replaced the original roof on my home in 2009. In April 2020, a hail storm damaged my roof and I had one leak.
A new roof was installed in June 2020 by Design Roofing. In August, 2020, the enclosed sun porch was leaking in three to four places. In November 2020, the roof leaked in the corner of the fireplace onto the sun porch floor.
In February 2021, a leak came through my kitchen ceiling drywall and onto my tile floor. As a result of the kitchen leak my ceiling is stained with brown spots.
Later n February 2021 it leaked yet another time onto the sun porch floor in two different areas. I have two buckets trying to catch the water.
Yesterday it leaked again in the kitchen.
The workmanship of Design Roofing was awful. The following are the problems I encountered with the job.
1. In August 2020 I pointed out that the shingles in the front of the house were not laying down flat and that the flashing was not smooth but rippled.
2. The flashing on the roof had to be redone. A neighbor beside me had the same problem with his flashing.
3. With the first leak on the sun porch, there were about three to four places where there was water.
4. In November 2020, I contacted another company who is also a GAF roofer to look at my roof and I was told the sun porch was done incorrectly.
5. On November 16, 2020, the owner of Design Roofing and one worker came to my house. The worker went on the roof and said that the roof was missing caulking or sealant where it was leaking.
6. After the roof was installed, materials were left in my yard and I contacted the company. The workers came back and took part of them and left part of them in the yard.
7. There are chunks and pieces of wood down in my attic that I can walk out into and see. I would expect my whole roof is like this.
8. Months later I continue to find nails around my house and check my driveway every time before leaving.
My neighbor across the street has had one leak. The workers messed up his gutters by taking them down and ruining the warranty. They had to be rehung. My neighbor beside me had to have his flashing redone also because it was rippled and not smooth. I believe he also had the workers back for something else.
I believe the installers were inexperienced and the job was not properly supervised. My roof is not fit for the purpose for which it is intended.
I am tired of cleaning up messes from the leaks. I have no confidence in the roof. I am afraid to go off and leave the house for fear of coming home to a mess. Due to the problems I have had with the roof, when it rains I almost get physically sick.
The manufacturer of the GAF shingles sent an inspector to my house and said that there are some things that have not been done correctly. Two GAF roofers have said that the flashing has been done incorrectly. It is all the way around my house. The GAF roofers believes that I need a complete roof replacement.
I have filed a complaint with the WV Attorney General's Office against the company. read more
