TOTAL BS AND UNPROFESSIONAL! The old white lady is a bitter hag that is rude and lost our son's paperwork! Gave us misinformation and then got an attitude b/c she lost our paperwork! Then when my husband and I went to talk to the owner, an Indian lady, 2 separate times, we were told the both same lie - all he needed was his impact certificate and his driving our log and he would be able to do his driving test that following weekend. My husband goes up there to give the same Indian lady the impact test, cause I already sent her the record because I took a photo of it and when he gets up, there's told oh it's $100 fee for the driving test which we never were told anything of. Not even when we initially signed him up for the class!!! so just know, they will lose your records and they will not give you the full discretion of what the fees are nor tell you that you have to drove with your child for 30 hours AFTER all the classes are complete! You are only paying for the written part which you are better off doing the self assessed one which is wayyyyyyy cheaper! Avoid this place by any means! read more

DO NOT TAKE THE ROAD/DRIVING TEST at Desi Driving School!!! They messed up big time when they gave us the sealed envelope after a successful road test to give to the DPS. They didn't provide the necessary information in the envelope, and we waited for over a month just to find out from the DPS about the missing information. Now, for the next appointment, we have to wait for another 2 months. The lady at the front desk at Desi Driving School kept blaming us, saying that we should have known about the missing information. They'll put whatever document you provided in the envelope and seal it. DO NOT expect them to guide you on what is missing and what else will be needed by the DPS. read more

I took my test here and the people were so nice. I passed first try and felt very comfortable in my driving abilities.

Called multiple times but they never picked up and their voicemail box is constantly full. The one time that the call did go through, they couldn't give me a date of when is the earliest I can start my lessons. Said they would call me back with the date that I can start and I never got a call back. No customer service and they seemed that they don't care whether you're going to learn driving from them or not. Would rather not go to a place as unresponsive as this location. read more

BEWARE: I paid for Desi driving driving school, started driving lessons for my child when COVID hit. I was unable to get a hold of them for direction on the continuation of lessons. They did not answer the phone and the answering machine was not on to leave messages during that time. When it opened back up my child only needed a few more hours of instructional driving but they refused to complete because of the contract period. Stating they would not make any exceptions even though there was a pandemic. I was asking to complete the instruction not a refund in spite of the contract dates. I had to go to their shop and luckily it was opened I spoke with the manager to no avail. The owner was supposed to get back with me. Manager also refused to continue service. . I went in person the phone was by their side but never answered the entire time I was there trying to get this resolved. I was upset with the decision they decided on but was not expecting the heckling as I walked out the door. I would NEVER recommend desi driving school.! I know this can be reviewed by them as a company and taken down. That is why I decided to also post reviews at the local high schools and other means of social media. Thanks for making my 16 year old cry. Showed up at 3pm based on the curt series of texts telling us how much and what to bring. We pulled on the door and it was locked. First of all, I had to wait for an hour even though my test was scheduled on advanced, i have a driver license for over 15 years, always obey the low, never got a single ticket so the test wasn't suppose to be a biggy, my primary language is not english so when Troy the tester asked me to park in a certain way I didn't understood him correctly I told him I dont understand and tried to park but failed, he said I failed, again I told him I didn't understood him and told him that twice before parking. It didn't matter to him and told me to drive back to the office. Both of my daughters have done well with this school. My eldest daughter took her driving test which saved a lot of time. I wish we had just sent her to the driving school . My youngest benefited from our mistakes with her sister. Our youngest attended the teen driving school and then completed her drive times with Desi Driving School. She enjoyed the class and the instructors (in the classroom and for the drive times). Scheduling the drive times took some patience and persistence. But they delivered. I took my third party driving test with Desi Driving Scool. The administration in charge was pretty approachable and and cleared my queries. The procedure was extremely smooth and done in no time. The best part was my driving class and test with the instructor Joseph. Joseph is a highly talented instructor. He taught me some crazy techniques and shared valuable inputs to improve my driving. I really enjoyed my in-car driving lessons from Desi Driving School, Richardson. Joseph, the instructor is very kind hearted and patient and teaches the nuances really very well. He is very polite and soft spoken too, which I particularly liked, as I cannot really gel well with someone who is impatient during teaching. Although I am an experienced driver (in India, since I am driving for around 10 years now there), I am new to Texas and the USA, and wanted to take driving lessons at a competitive price so that I feel comfortable with the different driving conditions and rules here. I enrolled in the 8 hours package class (4 days, 2 hours each day) @ USD 90 per class. So the total I paid for the package was USD 360. Considering the rates here, I would say this was good if not the best. The classes went well and I soon felt confident enough to drive on my own including the highways here. The car in which I learnt was a white Honda Civic 2012 (automatic) model in very good condition and it enhanced the overall driving experience. I would recommend Desi Driving school for anyone new here in the USA specially in the Dallas/Richardson area to have a good hands on experience in driving. Joseph, you were really good. I feel the upmost importance to write this review to let everyone know how heartless and unprofessional this company is. They have a simple rule that their contract you sign at the beginning for classroom and driving sessions are to be completed within 1 year. After classroom course is completed, your child needs to obtain a permit. Due to the pandemic, DPS had appointments backed up 6 to 8 months out. Once we obtained permit, the company had a voice mail that you could leave a message and let you know you can text the same number. I left message on answering machine as well as text message to set up driving lessons. No response was received. Then I try following up via phone. Now there is no voice mail and only rings. I work 12 hour shifts and calling is the only way I can try to contact due to hours worked. This occurs for 2 to 3 months. At this point, I think the company is out of business. I finally get a chance to go to company during business hours. They are open. I proceed to explain and plead with them to get my son to be able to start his final driving sessions. The management team states the contract date has expired and there is nothing they can do. There could have been a simple exception made to allow the driving sessions to be completed due to the provided circumstances. They do no not care. Poor customer service. Heartless. Now since my complaint they have magically turned back on their voice mail to where customers can leave a message. As for me, the money if lost and we are advised to go somewhere else. Please note : This is a horrible company and are out for only the $$$. Also note there is a older gentleman that puts on classroom sessions that openly made fun of a student with a speech impediment during class. This place is WONDERFUL for taking the Driving Test! Worth the money because of the time and frustration it saves! My sons both took the driving test through Desi about a year apart. They did not take the lessons there, as we did parent taught (to save time and money), so I cannot comment on the driving school portion. The school was awesome for taking the test. We paid to have a review class just before the test, which was helpful. Both sons passed the test. They were very comfortable with the instructor, and the whole experience was immensely better than scheduling with the DMV and WAITING. One of the employees also showed us how to get in line online at the Garland Megacenter DMV. We took the test, drove over to the DMV, and had their license within 1-1.5 hours. Easy! read more

Daughter passed on the second try. 80.00 which was worth it for the convenience. For the business owner: asking for cash only seems sketchy. IRS and state might ask you why some day. Both of my sons have tested with Desi Driving School and both were fabulous experiences. We had an issue with our youngest son over some changes in the regulations for parent taught drivers Ed that had recently happened without our knowledge. The staff spent lots of time on the phone with me helping me to resolve the issue and they stayed well past closing time to get all of the issues resolved and test my son (he got a 98!). We had taken classroom drivers ed at another school and did parent taught behind the wheel - and yet they patiently worked with us even though they gained nothing financially from us. In a stressful situation, they were calm and polite and helpful above and beyond. 5 stars isn't enough! read more

Literally, they never answer their phone even when it's during their hours. Second of all, they make it almost impossible to schedule driving lessons to get your teen's 14 hours instruction time. You end up paying all this money for the lessons and they make it so hard to schedule a lesson. They only have 1 book where they write down all the scheduled driving lessons and they only let you schedule on Wednesdays, at least that's what they say. We came in on a Wednesday during the hours and they told us they "locked up the book already" and told us we'd have to come back in a week. SO DUMB!! And such a waste of time. Now, my child has held their permit for a year now and we had scheduled the driving test and everything and turns out they didn't even give us our certificate of Drivers Ed completion and now my child can't take their test, and now we have to do Drivers Ed all over again, which is a waste of time and money, my child has been waiting forever to get their license and now they won't get to. Don't recommend at all. Never been more frustrated in my life. read more

Both of my kids went through this school to do their driving test, and they were both treated properly, and they passed the test. So, you do not have to try and schedule through the state, believe it or not this private company can do the test, and then they give you a sealed envelope to take to the DMV. Our test this morning was scheduled for 1000 AM, they had us fill out all the pertinent paperwork, and a courteous instructor had my daughter's test finished by 10:30. She was nervous but they treated her right! She previously had training prior to the test, and everyone their was courteous and respectful to us. read more

Amazingly rude lady (over the phone and in person) OK! Someone might have a bad day one time but not FOUR times. As I am seeing other reviews here, I definitely agree! Here is my experience(for my dad) 1st instance =I called a month ago, this lady so rude telling me (IN AMERICA WE NEED PERMIT TO DRIVE) like I don't understand English. Now after receiving the LP, The 2nd instance= I call to schedule an appointment. Lady= tomorrow at 2:30 I= looking for an instructor who speaks Hindi for better communication. Lady: absolutely, payment by phone. I= absolutely and got a text of confirmation of payment with no specific time and date of appointment. (no big deal I thought) 3rd Instance=**next day** dad is there with my uncle they are not tracking the appointment, not even tracking the payment was made. the lady was rude with my uncle. 4th Instance= I called the following day to inquire what was the deal with them not tracking my dad's appointment yesterday and no knowledge of receipt of payment. She is like oh! your dad insisted to drive (of course, we had an appointment for the lesson, why do we need to insist you? after driving an hour to get there.) the instructed provided didn't speak Hindi as we had agreed (the instructor was great dad said, but just wasn't what we had agreed upon) LADY: What do you want me to do schedule another appointment? I: I am trying to deal with past issue and you are not recognizing your disorganization? (far to even think how rude she was) After 4 minutes on the line she apologized, at this point, I had no grounds to accept an apology. She kept wanting to schedule another lesson. Penalized my son for missing a class time that was rescheduled on a day that he was absent when the announcement was made. Their communication skills need improvement. Lessons here were quick, easy & informative. Came in with just a permit, in less than 2 lessons I had gotten a good amount of corrections, and felt comfortable enough to take the test. Instructors are kind, & don't just give you "yes or no" answers. If you're apprehensive about parallel parking, (like me), this is the place to go!! Step by step instructions that you can apply everywhere, & even the slowest learners can pick up with some practice. Private lessons are recommended, instructors are genuine !! Paperwork is prompt for the most part, but small staff kind of makes for an unorganized - slightly frustrating experience. Overall, if you're about low intimidation + a lot of learning, DD school is a solid recommend. (also: I came in with a considerable amount of experience, which was helpful - but, if you're new to driving, maybe try it out first/research to see if beginner learning is good/compare prices) read more

I took my niece to take her test at the DPS office in Garland and we didn't have all the documentation. Due ti this we had to wait like another 2 months for her to take it again. A worker at the DPS office referred me to Desi since it was in the area. I called Desi and got in the door the same day. The office staff was very friendly and helpful. (Pt1) This place really was a business caring only about making money off of you and not caring whether you passed or failed. In fact, they will try to get you to fail on purpose, especially if you haven't been a student of theirs, in order for you to pay these outrageous prices for their other driving classes or perhaps to take the test from them again. My conjecture is that they are trying to make up the money that they haven't gotten from you if you had been a student at their school. The parallel parking section isn't a test for drivers who've just gotten out of driving school, but for drivers that have been on the road for some time. In the beginning of the lesson when I had to parallel park, there were no mentions that I had to do it within two minutes until we were right next to the cones even though I asked him in the beginning of the lesson what I should be looking out for. When we were next to cones, I was already a distance uncomfortably far from the cones. There were no mentions that my trial to parallel park would start immediately. If I had known, I would have driven closer next to the cones as I was moving up. The tester I was with had not prepared me with any information and intentionally tried to pressure me by telling me that I had to get it done within two minutes. He also did not allow me to drive around so that I could be closer to the cones (Was he intending me to fail since the beginning???). As a driver, we all get how troubling parallel parking can be. In the real world, only rare occasions do we need get it done strictly within two minutes. Testing whether I could parallel park within two minutes does not test my ability to parallel park, but more like it tests the speed of which I could get things done. If I were to not have this absurdly placed time limit, I would have parallel parked. As I have had many times before. Not only was I marked for being "unable" to parallel park, but I also was marked for not signaling as I turned into and when coming out of the parallel parking space and not looking at my blind spots which is untrue because I did look behind me!!! read more

I have used Desi's Driving School twice. The first time was 3 years ago when my daughter was learning to drive. She was taking driving classes at a school in Plano but she needed extra time behind the wheel with a driver. Desi sent someone to our house, they picked up my daughter and took her out a few times (each time for 2 hours). She gained the experience necessary to pass her test. I used Desi again recently. My youngest took on-line driving class so my husband and I taught her. Parents are not always the best teachers though and we were concerned about her level of confidence. She went out for a session with a Desi teacher and it did the trick! She gained the confidence necessary to go to the DMV and take her test. He was patient with her and she talked about him for days - how helpful he was, how he taught her the trick to parallel parking right the first time, what would be on the driving test, etc. I would recommend Desi to anyone - now that all my children are licensed I won't have the opportunity to use them again but, if I did, I would do so without hesitation. Rarely am I so pleased with a company that I'll take the time to post a review in Yelp - this occasion certainly calls for it!! read more
