I have been going to Hackensack Meridian Urgent Care in Piscataway. I've come across a few good…read morephysicians there. However, within the past year, I have noticed a decline in care. I DO NOT recommend attending this urgent care facility if Dr. V. Witt is the only doctor on staff. Unfortunately, my two interactions with her were not welcoming or professional. She saw my father and myself. She interrupted me when speaking; when she asked a medical question, she did not wait for my response but cut me off, started to walk to the door, and placed herself in the door frame. She was informed of my typical treatment for sinus issues along with my asthma. She agreed, and then, to my surprise, she did not disclose she was prescribing medication I never had before. On the second visit, about 2.5 weeks later, I went again for my daughter. She did not address the 4-year-old in the room; she did not look in her ears, mouth, or nose; she listened to her chest but did not ask her to take deep breaths. She stated, "Nothing's wrong with her." I asked her to be swabbed. Dr. Witt strongly resisted my request, saying, "It could be a million things." She was informed I would like to have the swab to confirm any illness no matter what since it is annoying that it seems no confirmation tests are ever done, and I tend to have to come back to urgent care or make a sick appointment with her primary. She said, "I'll test for all, but can't guarantee your insurance will cover it." This felt like manipulation and a fear tactic. This was all while she had her hands folded across her chest, not to mention some eye rolls. When I spoke to her about my continued sinus issues, she stated, "Well, what's wrong with you now?" I described the same things, and she followed that up with the comment, "Well, you didn't do anything I said last time. What do you want me to do." I corrected her and said that's not true. I took the antibiotic but not the steroid she prescribed because I did not feel comfortable with something I'd never taken. With the side effects that were listed and acknowledged, she prescribed something more substantial than what I usually take that helps. With that, she did not listen to my chest again or do any interventions and told me to take what she prescribed. It turns out my daughter has RSV and the rhinovirus.
Dr.Witt called to inform me of the results, which I asked about further, but she gave none. Note as an LSW professional working in a clinical setting and hospitals, her demeanor and overall practice did not meet the standards of Hackensack Meridian's mission. She rushes patients, has poor listening skills, is abrupt and dismissive, has horrible body language that is closed, does not provide informed care, and seems to lead with ego. I told the manager, who noted that this was not the first complaint. In a field where people are coming to a professional in a vulnerable state, she needs to improve her bedside manner, or maybe it's just time to hang up her white coat. This has been the worst Doctor-patient interaction I have had in many years.
