We tried a few different vets in the area before settling on Barrington Square Animal Hospital…read moresimply because it was closest to our home. After several visits over the years, I can say there are some positives--but also some major drawbacks that ultimately pushed us to look elsewhere. First, this clinic is exceptionally expensive. Nearly every service, from routine checkups to prescriptions, is priced noticeably higher than other veterinarians in the area. Even basic medications felt inflated, which adds up quickly when you have multiple pets. Customer service has been inconsistent. While scheduling appointments is easy, the in-office experience really depends on which doctor you get. Dr. Irina was the biggest issue for us. We saw her at least three separate times, and each visit left us feeling negative and unheard. She was dismissive, condescending, and spoke to us as if we were children rather than pet owners trying to understand our dog's health. When we brought in our six-month-old Doberman for unexplained hair loss, she immediately pushed for nearly $1,000 worth of tests without offering any explanation or talking through potential causes. The approach felt rushed, impersonal, and overly costly. On the other hand, Dr. Zoe was absolutely wonderful. She cared for our mini schnauzer when he needed several rotten teeth removed, and she was patient, kind, and incredibly thorough. She answered every question, explained the procedure and recovery clearly, and even walked us through all the financial details so we knew exactly what to expect. Her compassion and clarity made such a difference during a stressful situation. If every visit had been with Dr. Zoe, this review would be glowing. But the combination of high prices and inconsistent bedside manner--especially the repeated negative experiences with Dr. Irina--made it hard for us to stay loyal to this clinic. For the amount they charge, the level of care should feel far more consistent and respectful.

My dog had pancreatic issue, I had to go to ER, couldn't wait for their appt in five days. No choice but the ER, blood and bile. . Finally on a Tuesday Forest View ran a battery of tests. ($444 visit, which I would assume would include READING the results!) Results Thursday, they said. Vet in surgery that day. I'm a reasonable person, but I needed results, waited in office in the corner quietly. Rude tech marched out and said." You need to leave." So I went, being told she'd call that day. In office until 6 pm. NO call. The next morning, I called. Told she was out sick (yet again!) so I lost my temper. My dog is a member of my family. We are up to 8 days here! Pancreas issues can be serious. Bloodwork was in, but she didn't keep her word and call the day before. Still can't wrap my Mind around it. And I'm the villain/ haha. I also had an ultrasound scheduled with them which they weren't sure I needed. This vet cares about animals when she's feeling well but if she isn't, too bad for the animals (and us.) And somehow we are supposed to sit idly by, be all sweet while they blow us off, wondering when they are going to step up. Not anymore. They kicked me to the curb because I was disrespectful. What a joke. Above is the back story of what happened before I lost my temper. This vet needs a back up vet when she's out, even if it's a day. Ridiculous. Ego and stubbornness over the welfare of animals. Other examples too. Last year I dropped off my dog at 830 am for teeth cleaning, told he'd be done at 2. They started procedure at 3. No call, nothing. Was told how long a dog could survive without food or water! He came home at 5, couldn't walk well from anesthesia. Still not the same. Shameful. What's on me is I continued to go there after several (more) bad experiences. I "drank the kool aid" about loving animals. I believe there's a lot of 5 star ratings here because their animals were not in a bad way. Just my opinion. My advice/ don't take the chance here. Stay clear. If you have a serious issue with your animal, don't expect them to take it seriously. There are just too many obstacles. Poor communication, no back up, unreliable vet etc. Not worth it. Been with Forest View 19 years - when Dr Sholts retired it all changed. Just because it's Forest View doesn't mean it's Dr Sholts.

Unfortunately for us, Dr. Washington only does the dental program now, but she's an amazing vet and I trust them. When our cat had to go in for a repair in his canine, they realized he had a number of teeth that needed to come out in the back that never would have been noticed otherwise and called to discuss out options. We've now got cats treated for hyperthyroidism, osteoarthritis, FLUTD all going to this vet. The front desk staff are amazing (Patti and Maureen are amazing and always so bright and cheerful!), and when they make a mistake (filling a med with the liquid version out cat won't take), they make it right. We now see Dr. Williams, and she's incredibly kind and makes sure to explain any and all issues we have, as well as answer any questions. We always leave feeling confident our pets are receiving the best care. Honestly? The only downside is the high ceilings of the new building can allow for barking echoes inside that didn't exist in the other building. Worse for the staff than anyone else, and the only bad thing I have to say.

The veterinarians are knowledgeable, attentive, and caring, and the entire staff--front desk, veterinary assistants, and technicians--are always kind, welcoming, and professional. The atmosphere is consistently calm and friendly, which really helps my dogs feel at ease. The facility itself is also very clean and well-maintained, which I value greatly. I would also love to highlight groomer, Daniel. He is honestly the best groomer I've ever had. Not only do my dogs look absolutely beautiful after grooming, but what matters even more to me is how they feel. They come back happy, relaxed, and not stressed at all. That speaks volumes about the way he handles and cares for them. Thank you for creating such a wonderful place for both pets and their owners. It truly makes a difference. Jolanta Schubert
