Nice seating area, sandwiches are the usual good ones but cake selection is disappointing- I am used to better at Der Beck.

However, Nuremberg or other parts of Bavaria is the only place where you can get it all year round. It's fresh and chewy with all the spices. The entire store smells so good. The artisanal Lebkuchen from this small bakery are very good (so a five star review for the…read moreproduct). They taste different from the more factory-made Lebkuchen of larger manufacturers. They are a bit more expensive, but if you are buying in the shop then we are only talking of a couple of EUROs. If you are in Nürnberg and like Lebkuchen it is worth trying them to see whether they are to your taste. NB there are several branches in Nürnberg, with sometimes additional branches opened for Advent. Based on my one experience, however, I would not recommend purchasing by internet - at least not for transmission outside Germany (so a one star review). The process is clunky: you need to contact them separately to learn the postage rate before you place your order. Postage and packing are expensive: EURO 17 for a small order. They do not accept credit cards, so you need to add in the cost of an international bank transfer - my bank would have charged £10. So the whole order becomes really quite expensive. They sent me a Bestätigung (confirmation) after I had placed the order, but did not follow it up with either the ordered goods or correspondence (I had not noticed their requirement to agree the postage price beforehand). And when I chased non-delivery the firm quickly became rude in correspondence. There are other firms with good Lebkuchen and other German Christmas foods that have a more developed internet sales function (try Dallmayr, Kreutzkamm).
