But I like check ups, and scans and acupunture and doctors hands on my neck and stuff. I'm going to regret writing this I think. But, the one medical visit I absolutely do not enjoy is the dentist. I just hate the invasiveness of someone being all up in my mouth, and why, WHY would you ask me questions when you can't understand my reply?! At the beginning of last year I got a really bad toothache and dad told me to try out this new guy. Well, I expected the worst, obiously, but seriously, this was such a pain free experience it makes me question what all the other dentists were doing... Ivan is super friendly, and super intelligent. This made me relax a bit. He sat me down and explained everything that he would be doing, which prepared me mentally and left no room for surprises of the bad kind. There was of course the unpleasant sounds of drills and whatnot, but for the first time I was able to kind of ignore it and just lie there. It helps that there is a tv on the roof. Going to the dentist is never going to be great, but this was such a mellow experience i'm no longer ignoring potentially serious mouth issues just to avoid the dentist. And the extra bonus? His fee is extremely reasonable

Booking an appointment was completely hassle free, thanks to their online booking system I could make my appointment at midnight! The staff was so friendly and helpful, even holding my hand when I was nervous at the start. And the dentist was the BEST dentist I have ever been to! So gentle and calm, always making me feel like I am in control. I will definitely be sending my family and friends to see them. Happy to call you my dentist :)

Finding a good dentist is hard. Price varies widely with area and dental surgery, and it's hard to…read moreknow who's ripping you off and who's taking care of you. After a less-than-satisfying experience with Quay Street Dental, someone recommended Ti Rakau, so I went along for a check-up. Firstly, they told me I needed less fillings than Quay Street did, and no crown. They also, rather than charging me for more x-rays, suggested I get them from Quay Street and pass them along. Unfortunately, the copy Quay Street gave me was too small to be of use, so I ended up getting them done at Ti Rakau anyway later on, for $30. I went to see them again this past weekend as I was worried about a tooth that looked cracked. The dentist was reassuring and kind, and replaced a loose filling on a tooth that had been bothering me for ages while I was there. She gave me plenty of anaesthetic and told me what she was doing the whole time. She didn't try and force me into getting anything else looked at, or suggest more expensive procedures. As such, I'm more than happy to come back and get my other fillings done there - I feel they are a trustworthy, affordable practice and am happy to recommend them! They also have great hours (open late and on weekends and public holidays), with no surcharge.
