None of my previous dentists ever mentioned this. 2. Didn't fully remove one of them causing multiple infections and extreme pain. And I still do not have feeling in part of my lip months later. 3. Went in due to problems and they basically forced me to do another procedure on the spot with local anesthetic and said I had to pay another $900 for it! On top of all that, the office manager, Nineva, was very dismissive and unempathetic. I wouldn't wish the past month of nightmares and pain on my worst enemy. The worst thing is I feel like all of this was probably avoidable. On the bright side, one of the dentists there, Jason Brenner, was very nice and did what he could for me. The oral surgeon was also professional in attitude, though I'm wary of his skills.

Fun fact: Dentistry is one of the most ancient medical procedures in the world, dating back to…read more7,000 B.C. Based on archaeological evidence, we know that humans who lived over 6,500 years ago had dental fillings. The ancient Sumerians used "magical incantations" & herbal remedies for toothaches, while the Aztecs used white ashes mixed with honey or rubbed their teeth with charcoal and salt to remove plaque and tartar! Why do I bring all this up in a Yelp review? Because dentistry isn't just a science; it's also an art. It's an ancient practice, and those who practice it exceptionally well are, in my opinion, nothing short of artists. Dental Matters is one of those rare practices. I had the great fortune of working with Dr. Laura Habeeb and her wonderful team. I came to Dental Matters after a highly disappointing experience at another dental office (across the street, actually!), where a filling had been done incorrectly and there were apparently problems with the planned placement of my crowns. Needless to say, I was feeling altogether discouraged & pretty hopeless. Switching to Dental Matters was an absolute game-changer. First, the administrative staff are incredibly kind, understanding, and knowledgeable. They really know their stuff! Sidra was especially amazing. Imran (dental assistant) was also wonderful, and Usman (dental assistant) in particular went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with my crowns. Usman spent over half an hour helping me design my crowns on a 3D screen. When I wasn't satisfied with the color of my permanent crowns, he helped me make adjustments through their in-house lab. How cool is that? Never once did he complain or make me feel difficult for asking questions. He simply listened, took my concerns seriously, and worked with me until I was happy with the result. But the true standout was Dr. Laura Habeeb. Dr. Habeeb doesn't just give dentistry 100 percent. She gives 200 percent! She is a true dental-artist, in every sense of the word. Not only is Dr. Habeeb extraordinarily intelligent and knowledgeable about all things dental (and I mean everything), but she's also a deeply empathetic person. She listens carefully, takes your concerns seriously, and consistently goes the extra mile. Even the tiniest adjustments mattered to her because she wanted my teeth to both feel good and look beautiful. And that's what makes dentistry such a fascinating art, in my opinion. Teeth are both functional & aesthetic. They can cause us pain, but they're also part of how we smile, speak, and present ourselves to the world. A truly phenomenal dentist understands both sides of that equation. If you're getting crowns or fillings done, or honestly any dental work done at all, I couldn't recommend Dr. Habeeb more highly. I'm so grateful I found Dr. Habeeb and her team. Dental Matters is truly a hidden gem, and I couldn't be happier with my experience!

Dr Syed is a wonderful dentist!…read more I was having problems with my teeth and the only solution my previous dentist gave me was to do extractions with no recommendation on how or who might do dental reconstruction. I've had two successful implants over the last year and recently had my teeth cleaned, my smile has never been brighter! I highly recommend Dr Syed and his super friendly staff for implants and for all your dental matters. Finding him and his team eased my mind and helped me to regain my smile!

After that, I got a recommendation from a friend (whose father and father-in-law were both dentists) to check out Dr. Dave McWhinnie at Smiles of Skokie. I am so glad that I went here. The office staff and hygienists were all super friendly. After visiting way too many sketchy dentist offices in strip malls around Chicago, their office and facilities were a breath of fresh air. New equipment, bright exam rooms and nice decorations. Dr. Dave is incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and really does talk you through each step of the exam and appointment. He wants to make sure you don't feel any pain at all. I had one dentist who attempted to numb me with anesthetic 3 different times, and I could still feel the drill. Dr. Dave did it once and I was good and numb in no time - didn't feel a thing. Finding a dentist you like and trust is incredibly difficult, I think. But I can assure you that if you go and check out Dr. Dave at Smiles of Skokie - your search will be over. Hope your experience is as good as mine was.

He doesn't just treat a problem and send you out. With my fear, he has taken time with me so I can be calmer during my visits. He has very thoughtfully prescribed antibiotics for an infection (I have allergies) and has a great attitude about avoiding too much medication--enough to keep you comfortable, but not so much your mouth is sore afterward from shots and you are woozy from gas. Walking to pick up lunch one day, I passed Sodini dental on Oakton, and knowing that I needed to get back to the dentist and looked up their reviews to see if this would be a good place to maybe try and become a new patient. I slid down a slippery slope through Covid and since, after moving away from my previous dentist and some extensive and ongoing health issues impacted my life. I called and was able to make an appointment for a couple months out - I was pleasantly surprised that they were taking new patients and that I didn't have to wait that long in the scheme of dr's offices for a new patient appointment. They do send text reminders as well which I appreciated. Doré at the front provided my new patient paperwork and checked me in. She was nice and efficient. Therese was my hygienist and I am so grateful and lucky that she got my appointment. I was transparent and disclosed it had been almost 7 years since my last dental appointment. I had been diagnosed with several conditions that are ongoing that have impacted my entire life tremendously, and paired with Covid and moving, time passed so quickly until we were here. Therese was patient and kind and made me feel incredibly heard. I know many people (myself included) who have anxiety build as time passes fearing judgment from dentists when we finally do make it in, and I need to stress so clearly here that Therese was so understanding, empathetic, and validating, especially with consideration to my ongoing health struggles. I was immediately so relieved and relaxed to continue with the visit AND ongoing dental care. We did a whole slew of x-rays since it had been so long since my last, and we also decided periodontal scalings were appropriate for cleaning my teeth and getting me back on track as well. Therese was communicative and gentle throughout the entire appointment and stressed my comfort over and over. We did split the scalings into two appointments, and I came back a week later for the second half of the cleaning. They made sure to book me with Therese at my request. I cannot articulate clearly enough how much the staff here made sure I was comfortable through my appointments. Unheard of in my previous dental office experiences. Dr. Sam saw me for my exam and she is incredibly kind, my experience with her was also very positive. I'm so grateful to have accidentally found an office with so much empathy and kindness in addition to professionalism, efficient administrative staff, and a very clean office. I know Sodini Dental has been a part of the community for a long time, and I selfishly hope they continue to be so. My insurance is out of network with the office, and I knew this going in to my appointment, and agreed to out of network costs. Out of network costs are generally not cheap, this was no exception, however billing and payment were both easy and transparent.
