Her excuse was You cant keep your mouth open wide enough mind you i have a small jaw... she said you need to see a damn specialist... Took my son in for his first dentist appointment. It was a morning appointment with no one in front of us and we waited 45 minutes to get called back. The hygienist said sit in the chair and we'll clean his teeth. She didn't even get a chance to put the bib on my son before the dentist came in. She glanced in his mouth, said no cavities, go check out and make an appointment for 6 months from now. I'm not even sure if she looked in his mouth long enough to count his teeth. They did not clean his teeth or apply fluoride yet they still billed for it. When I got the bill I tried calling them. It rang for 32 minutes then disconnected. I went there in person , there was only 1 person in the lobby and the staff didn't seem to be helping anyone or on the phones. I spoke with the office manager and said they billed for services that did not happen. She told me to contact the insurance company for a refund. I asked them to make it right by cleaning my son's teeth since they already billed for it and she said they wouldn't do that! I made a grievance with my insurance company but because dental dreams billed for services I am unable to take my son to another dentist for a proper visit and cleaning until he's eligible again in 6 months. The grievance takes 90 days and the insurance company can only go by what the dental office says. I hope they don't deny my complaints. This is neglecting patient care and insurance fraud. We obviously wont be back. This is unacceptable on several levels. I wish 0 stars was an option. read more

If I could give a Zero star rating I would! I made an appointment MONTHS ago, yet they made me wait for over two hours before I finally just walked out. It was just a new patient examination on my 3 year old. They kept saying "ten more minutes" until I couldn't take it anymore. I pulled my toddler out of preschool early and I live half an hour away, yet they treated us like we didn't even matter and they didn't care about the wait. They seemed annoyed that I would even question how much longer it would be. I'm thoroughly offended. Then they brought us back to the chair and didn't even come check on us for half an hour. That was my cut off point where I decided to just leave My toddler doesn't have the patience for that and at that point neither did I. Don't ever go there. read more

I went in for a filling not in any pain. The dentist exposed a nerve then told me I needed a root canal that would have to be scheduled with a different doctor. Would not do anything about the nerve she exposed. Dealing with weeks of pain that I did not have before going there. Do NOT recommend this place. read more

The dentist we see is great! Very friendly, good with the kids and all around good. The office staff is rude and very ignorant. Tried running the wrong insurance and then blamed it on me then proceeded to talk about me while i waited for them to finish their mess up. The front desk staff was great. Unfortunately, I had a 2pm appt and wasn't called back until 2:45pm. I was a returning patient. The dentist was very personable, non-judgmental and polite. The service was relatively easy. He just assigned me an $8,000 treatment plan that his staff knew my insurance would decline to pay for. While, they figured it all out after my appointment, I had to leave and call back to schedule my follow up. I simply felt that a cleaning shouldn't take 3 1/2 hours and my time wasn't respected because they were so overbooked. I'd say visit this dentist but know there will be a wait. read more

They have a very clean and inviting office, with a play area for the kids. We had a problem with insurance right off the bat, and I ended up paying straight up for the visit. $97 for a visit and partial X-ray, and $115 for a visit and full X-ray. The Dental Assistant seemed nice, but she really hardly talked to us and kept her back to us most of the time. Dr. Yu was polite when he saw us, however he kept referring to my child with the wrong pronouns and never came around to actually look them in the face. He never saw past their hair or mouth. He had an "assistant" or student. But we weren't introduced and I'm not sure what his purpose was. He was cheery though. I have to speak of something that bothers me not just about this dental office but I'm all I've been to in recent memory -- privacy. I'm a Certified Medical Assistant, and something huge in medicine is patient privacy. You know. You sign a HIPPA agreement yearly if not more. Yet, recently at dental offices the trend has been toward open flow offices. Everyone can hear your business and see you. Everywhere. While there with my child I heard the patient next door having strong words with the dentist about an abscess he ended up in the hospital for. I could hear the dates of that visit, his full name, his past dental history, and the plan going forward. Also, everyone knew my child's name when the Dental Assistant had to go ask the dentist for help during this deep conversation and spoke my child's full name in front of other patients. Also, from our cubicle, we could hear the front desk staff calling multiple patients asking if they'd like to schedule this or that. I do NOT like this trend of open offices and I hope dentistry rethinks the trend and leans to award patient privacy. read more

I have private insurance not medicaid an have been going to this office since they opened. At that time i had Dr Yu who was very nice and gave me a great ultrasonic cleaning. I left them two good reviews after my two good cleanings. Unfortunately my last appointment was HORRIBLE. I had three appts, for cleanings for myself and my two children. Was there 5 minutes early and since i had been there within a year and already done paperwork, figured we would go straight in, one at a time. This is NOT what happened. They rudely told me i would have to complete 15 sheets of duplicate paperwork (5 for each) which sucked but i understood its the law if they must redo it. However, they had already verified my kids Insurance coverage and could have started one of the kids cleanings. But no, they made them wait 2.5 hours next to me sitting in a chair and backing up patients. Then they took my son in and a half hour later my daughter. I was last-he insisted i needed xrays even though i had some less than a year before. Young worker looked 20 and put huge blocks in my mouth-way too big for my mouth! My gums started bleeding and i did NOT complain. Then the dentist came over to start my cleaning and because he is scared of blood-yelled at me and said i hadn't been following his instructions and using a water pik! When guess what? I do have one and use it twice a day. He then rushed me out of there saying i was bleeding too much and would have to come back another day! 3 hours there for nothing but painful xrays Never in my life have i had any dentist be so inconsiderate and rude-like it was my fault he has incompetent xray techs and needs smaller blocks for people who have smaller mouths! I was told my daughter had a tiny cavity and her and I could return in 2 weeks to finish my cleaning. I politely accepted this knowing it was bull that they didn't do my cleaning because of bleeding they caused. Then it gets worse. Before our appt, i confirmed by text yes we would be there. Later the same day they called to see if we were coming? I said yes i already confirmed. Ok your all set. We had 9am and 10am appts the next day July 1st. That morning we look at the website and it says it opens at 10am. So we go at 10am and are told we both had 9am appts and now they can't take us. I said well yr website says open at 10am and i didn't want to have to wait an hour in the parking lot in my car. The so called manager receptionist said we will have to reschedule you-what? My appt was 10 and it is 10! No we cant take you now and our next appt is inAugust -I said what? So your staff injured my mouth, refused to complete my cleaning that day and now when i am here at 10 for my 10 am appt-will not take me? I will not be returning to the MOST UNPROFESSIONAL, IGNORANT DENTAL OFFICE!! BEWARE! If you like organized-they are not. If you like gentle-they are not. If you like to get called in within a reasonable time-it won't happen here. If you have good insurance like i do-it won't matter because they treat everyone like they are on medicaid and garbage!! My husband came here recently and said that the blondish-brown haired manager is very rude. They have COVID guidelines posted all throughout the waiting area, but they did not seem to be following. They say that they will take temperatures of patients, but I did not see them do that once during my visit. There was a patient a room over that had a terrible cough, yet no one seemed to care. My seven year old nephew, who is biracial, just had his first taste of blatant racism today at, of all places, Dental Dreams. My wife and I, who are white, are raising him as her sister is ill and in a nursing home. Guardianship papers are nearly complete but, regardless, my wife's been taking him there since his first visit years ago. But for today's appointment, they looked at her, looked at him, asked if she was the parent and wanted her to PROVE guardianship--they have never asked before. (They wouldn't take her ID--same last name.) But did they ask the white women with their kids to prove they were theirs? No. Not one. Seriously? His first question was, "Why can't I get my teeth done?". Has it actually come to having to carry papers if your kid's skin color isn't the same as yours to a dentist office? STAY AWAY! The dental staff themselves are very professional and that is the only good thing I have to say. We went in December 2019 to have dentures made for my husband. We pre-paid the entire amount. We have been called and told his teeth are in, only to get there and they are not there. Our last visit (4 weeks ago) we were told that at the beginning of the process we were given paperwork detailing the lengthy process. I asked to see signed paperwork, they never provided it to me. I asked is we could pay extra to have teeth expedited, I was referred to the office manager, whom I spoke with over the phone. She said she would give me a callback - NEVER HAPPENED. 4 weeks ago we were told it would be 2-3 more weeks. I called today and was told "the lab is busy" They do not seem at all concerned with the fact that my husband has been going to work for nearly 3 months without teeth. I was fed up today and asked for the corporate number. I TRIED EVERY EXTENSION - o one will answer the phone. This has been a nightmare and we're in over a thousand dollars...so we can't just go somewhere else. read more

Horrible... would NOT recommend. When i arrived the staff was nice. Filled out tons of paperwork, then was called back. Dr tried to tell me i dont brush my teeth, which is a not true at all, and tried arguing with me that i dont. Excuse me? How are you going to tell me i dont do something. Do you follow my every move? Are you watching ever second of my life? No. Then they told me i had to go somewhere else because they were and are not able to remove two of my wisdom teeth. They gave me a piece of paper and told me to call right away. My appt was a friday so i had to wait until monday to call the other places. I finally get ahold of the other dentist, and they tell me that dental dreams has to refer me to them. Okay cool , so i call dental dreams and tell them that they need to fax over a referral, and they try to tell me that ive never signed the paperwork approving that they are able to send over the referral. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!! I clearly remember signing a release of information form. They tell me i have to come back to sign ONE PIECE OF PAPER. mind you, i live in GRAND LEDGE. i do not have the gas to drive from grand ledge, ALL THE WAY TO BASICALLY HOLT to sign a piece of paper IVE ALREADY SIGNED!!!! My daughter and i had an appointment and not one of the receptionists leaned up from their chairs to check us in, they just told me to sign in. After about an hour i got fed up and asked what was taking so long the receptionists stated the dentist was "running a bit behind" and then an hour later the receptionists decided to take our insurance cards and proceeded to tell me that i didn't have an appointment but my daughter did, they called me twice to verify out appointment and told me it wouldn't be necessary for me to reschedule my appointment even if i didn't have anyone to keep an eye on my daughter. Brand new office, but they definitely need another dentist. Our usual wait is at least an hour for myself and my daughter. They're very polite usually. Had a bad experience last night when my 13 year old went to the car for something while I was getting fillings and was locked out! And, we were there for over 3 hours while tons of others came and went. Have also been rescheduled twice now bc of the 1 dentist. So, I love the dentist but it would be great if they added at least one more to accommodate the patient load of Lansing. We'll continue to be seen here, but would expect from see some vast improvement before they're a complete success! read more
