Avis should sent it's new hires here to learn what customer service is all about Update: Had to update from 4 stars to 5 - I wrote the above after I orginally got the car. On the way back to the airport I was running late. The flight was at 4:30 and at 3:55 I was still ~10 miles away when I got a cell phone call asking if I was planning on returning the car. "Yes" I said, but I was ten minutes away. The agent told me that they close the security checkpoint a 1/2 hour before the flight. The agent went out of her way to work with the security folks and Northwest to hold the gate for us. When I pulled up, she was at the front door of the terminal, told us to go in and go through security. I told her I didn't have a chance to fill the tank. She told us not to worry. At the Northwest gate, our boarding passes were waiting. The security folks got us through the checkpoint and we made the flight. Whew! I always wondered why they ask for a local phone number when you rent a car and now I know. I never had a chance to thank the agent or get her name.
