Denise Sweeney should not be practicing medicine. Her bedside manner is repugnant and as others have stated, she talks down at you, especially if you don't go along with every word that leaves her mouth. She repeatedly told me I was having a miscarriage. It was our first and I was devastated. She prescribed Norco for the pain and sent me on my way. I continued to bleed and be in massive pain for three weeks, and ended up in the ER when the bleeding became uncontrollable. When I called her office the next day, she had me come in only to be told I was being discharged for being "belligerent" to her staff. My "belligerence" was crying and screaming in pain asking what I should do and what could possibly be happening on my way to the ER. I was acting like any frightened female going through a miscarriage AND having severe complications. She showed zero concern for my well-being and was a cold fish. I headed to the ER at Dignity immediately where it was determined by the Chief of Med that I actually had an ectopic pregnancy and emergency surgery had to be performed due to internal bleeding. My hemoglobin has fallen to 7 and I needed a transfusion. The surgeon had to perform a tubal ligation, which has now reduced my ability to get pregnant by 50%. Unless you plan on being the perfect pregnant woman with zero complications or gyno issues, AVOID DENISE SWEENEY. As you can see, she only responds to positive reviews because she truly believes she is the best OBGYN and you should be so lucky to be her patient. If you care about your life and fertility, choose an OBGYN that cares about ALL patients, not just the easy cases. read more

Thought she was going to be a caring good dr. Seemed that way at first. She gave me referral to have a surgical procedure for fibroids called UFE. She Gave me Provera and told me to take it if I didn't have the surgery before my next cycle as I had been getting transfusions. I was able to have the procedure before my next cycle and immediately the bleeding was less. I called her office to let them know I had the surgery and I needed follow up with an obgyn. I never received a call or instructions back. A month later I ended up in the er bleeding heavily and passed a 3" fibroid. The er dr assured me it was normal since I was confused and distraught. They contacted Dr Sweeney who was on another vacation where she informed them she was dropping me for non compliance. Fortunately the er dr was kind and sensitive enough to not tell me that while I was there. Even though my blood count did not get low enough for a transfusion they went ahead and gave me blood to make sure I stayed ok. When I called her office 2 days later to bring in the fibroid and make sure I didn't have any pieces stuck possibly causing an infection I was informed she didn't want to see me. And I was never told why. I ended up having to go through patient advocacy to be seen by another dr since Sweeney decided to red flag my chart. I was told by patient advocacy and the new obgyn (who by the way doesn't understand the procedure I have) that what she did is called abandonment of a patient. But because she technically isn't a Sutter Physician she doesn't have to explain to them or anyone. Not only did she drop me after a surgical procedure she sent me for and was supposed to monitor. But she backed out if our plan (lupron) for after the procedure and she Red Flagged my chart so that I have to tell this stupid story every time in have to see a Sutter Dr now. I believe she likes her vacations and doesn't like getting interrupted when things aren't nice and easy. And running into her at Roseville Health and Wellness Club was a bit awkward. I do blame her for my horrible lack of follow up care. I do not recommend her for anything serious. If you need a pap though, she will be your person, unless of course you need surgery. I did follow up with the Ca Medical Board and there is still an open investigation pending. I'm not a person who has ever reported a dr or ever sued anyone, so having to do this was to ensure that no one else is treated the way I was. Completely unprofessional. read more

Dr. Sweeney has been the best OBGYN and really the best physician I have ever had the change to see. She is sweet, funny, caring, smart, patient, and has "what is best for the patient" practice. I was a patient of hers from 2007-2010 and would be to this day if we did not change insurance. She delivered my son and made the prenatal experience a wonderful experience with her wit, humor and care. She takes the time to listen to my concerns, answers my questions, and I honestly feel like a real person, not just another patient coming through on a conveyor belt. I would give this "specialist" a Zero, but that choice is not available. I am a health professional, and the service I recieved was far from compassionate, attentive or professional. The service I recieved was malpractice. During my intial consultation, Dr. Sweeney seemed to be professional and educated; however, during my fifth month of pregnancy, I had lower abdominal complaints and called her emergency hotline, spoke with her, and she dismissed my complaints of "suprapubic pain, that comes and goes, increasing in intensity." Instead, she informed me to stop worring because it is my first pregnancy, and I have GI symptoms; therefore, I would need to follow up with my PCP because she is not a GI specialist. Well- to make a long story short- I went to Roseville ER, and an ER doc spoke with her, did not perform a vaginal exam, and I was sent home to follow up with my primary. Shortly after coming home, my water broke and I had a miscarriage. She did not call me after to see how I was doing nor did she apologize. This could have been prevented. All because she was not did not listen to my complaints, instead she dismissed my complaints to another phyician. Please be careful about this OB/GYN, she lacks the education/experience in handling potentially complicated pregnancies, which of course I was not aware of my potential complicated pregnancy, since this was my first pregnancy. Fortunate for her, I did not file a claim; however, I wanted to be sure I made indivials aware of the treatment I recieved from Dr. Sweeney. . read more

AMAZING!! Dr. Sweeney has a wonderful ability to make you feel at ease. She listens to you, and encourages you to be proactive in your own health. She will write everything you tell her down so she can remember it for next time. She gets to know you for you, and makes recommendations that take into account the type of person you are. Unfortunately, she no longer does obstetrics, just gynecology. Horrible person! Avoid this doctor at all costs. She is rude and condescending. You had better never have a question for her. All she will do is tell you to look the answer up on the internet and make you feel that she has absolutely no time for you. If she recommends a procedure and you want to think about it first, she will quickly end her time with you and send you to the front desk to schedule it. When I decided to switch from her practice while I was pregnant, I asked for a copy of the ultrasound she had taken to give to my new OBGYN, and her office staff told me that they did not keep a copy of it. If that is the case, then they are running a shady medical practice, because I was charged for a service and was not provided my medical records that I have a legal right to. If they did have it, then they were lying to me. Either way, I would not recommend this doctor or her office to my worst enemy. Steer clear! read more

Dr. Sweeny is not wonderful and does not make you feel at ease, at least when it comes to our loved family member who after loosing a baby is a high risk patient.. She and her office assistant Kristian are arrogant to the point of rudeness as well as her office staff who takes messages. I called the office and pleaded for Dr. Sweeny to call my sister in law as she wasn't returning her calls for help. Not only were we scared, we became pissed (when Sweeny left her office for the next 3 days without a call or referral to see another docotor). After us loosing a baby a few years ago at 22 weeks this is a very emotional and sensitive situation to where a doctor you would think would show compassion and concern for our family and most of all my sister in law who will once again be emotionally damaged not to mention my brother if in fact something happens to this baby. My sister had to have what they call a Cercloge at 14 weeks. (I know I probably didn't spell it right) It is a sewing up of the cervix so that the baby can be carried to full term. She is feeling pressure and there has been bloody show and they have asked for a referral to the specialist who did the proceedure last time which enabled us to have our wonderful nephew with little complications. Dr. Sweeny (Dr. Arrogant) has insisted that there was nothing that the specialist had on her and has refused the referral to the Dr. that made our sister feel comfortable. We are now at 18 weeks and having what we think are contractions since last night, but not to sure, we just want reassurance without having to go to the emergeny room when she could do a simple exam and reassure all is well, but the doctor won't call us back and the assistant Kristian called us but ended up hanging up without showing concern for our unborn baby and the well being of momma. Once again a phone call was made and the office was asked for Dr. Sweeny to return our phone call, she DID NOT CALL, BUT she did decided to leave her office and told the staff that she said that she couldn't be reached and would be out of the office until Wed. and no we could not been seen by any of the other 15 doctors in the office as she doesn't refer her patients to the other doctors. So the next step was to take medication for preterm labor that was given at the time of the Cercloge at 14 weeks to see if the contractions go away and if not, off to the emergeny room. AT this point, we don't want anything to do with this office as it will be nothing but uncomfortable from here on out if to been seen again by them. No compassion, thats all I can say. I pray that all is well after all of this. I wouldn't recommend this woman to my worst enemy. read more
