There were several things in my last visit that indicated that the quality of service is not good. I had an appointment for my regular cleaning and exam, and when I got in the chair I was told that I would only get an exam, no cleaning since that was what was on the schedule and they didn't have time to do extra cleanings. Then the x-ray machine didn't work, so for about 10 minutes she went around to other rooms trying to find one that worked. Once the bitewings were done, she did a panoramic xray. Then I waited for the dentist to do an exam (didn't have a cleaning). He was rushing around the hallways looking for something he needed, and finally came in flustered and quickly looked in my mouth. Then I went out and was told that even though my insurance was in-network, that it doesn't cover the panoramic x-ray that they just automatically did (I found out that insurance doesn't cover that over the age of 19, and I'm 46) and they needed payment for that, so I paid it. I asked for a statement, and it showed the amounts sent to insurance, and the amount for the panoramic paid in full. I was frustrated that I didn't even get a normal cleaning, and that they did things that insurance didn't cover without asking me first. Now a few weeks later, they sent me a bill for a bunch more money in addition to what I already paid. My insurance has paid them for the preventative exam and bitewing x-rays. They used to be very organized, professional, transparent about charges and what insurance covers, and the equipment worked, but not anymore.

Not only was Dr. Dixon helpful in explaining the situation but he also took the time to show me my 3D scanning on my wisdom tooth along with the nerve running along my jaw. Due to the proximity of the nerve to the tooth, they were unable to do the extraction procedure then and there, however he did not hesitate to write me a referral to an oral surgeon. Needless to say, I was able to get all 4 wisdom teeth out in the same day and am now recovering!!! I will 100% be coming back to NKC Dental when my next check up is due.
