Nothing more than a grifter. After explaining the entire situation, no detail left out, he told me how he could help me but first, not only would I have to give him a $3,500 retainer, I would also have to hire another attorney he recommended & together they would handle the situation leaving me sitting pretty in a couple years time. ALL Lies. I paid out both retainers and explained it put me in a very bad financial situation so they knew I couldn't come up with more money right away if additional funds were needed....One month later, the second attorney told me in writing that Josh said I had no case, she was not sure what he was working on for me. When I called to speak to Josh about it, he never took my call and kept me chasing him for over 5 months while he said he drew down my retainer...(he wasn't doing anything that helped me). As I hit bottom, this guy almost nailed the coffin shut - I was so shocked this was all legal, well legal if you weren't wealthy enough to continue hiring attornies. The worst of the worst. An 84 year old relative called for help with her mortgage and foreclosure issues. After telling her all the things he could do and would do for her, the communication stopped. Even after she followed up with emails and calls, he didn't even have the decency to call her back, an 84 year old elderly woman that clearly needed guidance. Joshua made a curious comment to her that he wasn't going to make any money on this case so it was no surprise that he never called her back after he said he would get back to her to go over the next steps. Absolutely unacceptable behavior. No professional conduct whatsoever. It's one thing if you don't want to help because you're just in it for the money but at least have the decency to get back to someone so they're not sitting there as crucial days go by wondering what's going on and getting no response back after several calls and emails. This wasn't a mistake. Just a blatant disregard for someone's time and energy and misfortune. And judging by some of the other negative reviews about him, this is the same m.o. Is this really the type of person you want to fight for you? But then again, this is why lawyers have the stereotypical reputations that they do. If you know, you know. He is the epitome of that. After receiving a solicitous letter from the law office of Joshua Denbeaux, I called him to discuss representation. He promised the world and boasted of his greatness, talking about how the opposing counsel would quiver in his boots once he discovered I had retained The Great Joshua Denbeaux. He waxed lyrical about how remarkable my case was and then went on to detail how easy the case would be to win. He even speculated on the monetary outcome in dollar amounts. I provided Mr. Denbeaux with all relevant paperwork. Although the paperwork didn't say anything different than what I'd told him in our initial phone conversation, I received a very curt email from him saying, "OK, I am going to close this file." He did, however, provide a simple, two-sentence statement for me to send to opposing counsel, pro bono. If the other party did not respond favorably, Mr. Denbeaux told me to let him know because we might then have a case. The other party did not, in fact, respond favorably, so I did what Mr. Denbeaux said and let him know via email. He did not respond for one week, so I called his office and the secretary said she would have him call me later that day. One more week passed and still no response. It was now only 4 days until we were due in court, so I called Mr. Denbeaux's office. His secretary said he was out of the office, but when I told her that I'd been trying to get a hold of him for 2 weeks and that our hearing was a few short days away, suddenly Mr. Denbeaux was now magically available and picked up the line. Here's the part that really blew my mind. Attempting to move forward amicably, I said jokingly, "I wasn't sure if you were still alive!" Mr. Denbeaux offered no apology, no justification; he didn't even seem to recognize that there was a problem with his unresponsiveness. Addressing the issue, I told him how I felt about not receiving one response and having to track down my lawyer only days before our court date. He then went into a rant about, "You don't know what I've been going through lately" and his "personal issues". Taking a breath, I told him that I was sorry he's having personal issues, but everyone has problems in life and occasional rough patches and we still have to be professional, do our jobs, and pay our bills. There is no excuse for not replying with at least a brief email in over 2 weeks. In response to this he said, "Just back off!" After this outburst, he had the audacity to ask me if he should contact opposing counsel regarding some recent documents. I told him to not bother because he lacked the professionalism and emotional stability I expect from a lawyer (or even a fry cook, for that matter) and that I would be seeking counsel elsewhere. read more

After being told they were 'salivating' over my foreclosure case, I drove over 2 hours to their office. I was informed that I needed to make a bigger stink, and once I was served papers to fax it immediately to them. I stayed in touch with the office, told them of all I was doing, and when I contacted the secretary with paperwork, I was told to fax the next set immediately. I did. The next day I get emailed a letter, then certified mailed a letter that they DO NOT represent me, never agreed to a fee, nothing, and that I must find another attorney right away since I only have 10 days to reply to the papers I faxed them. So if they had NO intention of taking my case, why wait until I needed them most to tell me? I sent plenty of emails, kept them abreast of my actions with contacting senators, CFPB, the FBI, news papers... you name it.. and in all that time, I was never told they had no interest. Now I can't find an attorney and my case will surely go to court in favor of the bank that has been acting ILLEGALLY. Avoid this law office at all cost! They wasted my time, and pushed me into a corner leaving me no time to find someone else. Thank you so much. **UPDATE** 3/816 It took over a year for this law office to reply, and in their reply they flat ignored the issue. When I had my consultation, I was told by them to keep them informed. They said I had a case, but I needed to follow a few steps before action could be taken. I was told to notify them IMMEDIATELY if I received any paperwork and I did. I followed everything they instructed me to do, and it wasn't until I actually received that paperwork and contacted them AS INSTRUCTED that they decided 'Not to take my Case'. For the record, I'm currently working with another law firm and not only do I have an outstanding case, my mortgage company made a HUGE mistake at a hearing that just increased my settlement. Yet, it was because of THIS LAW FIRM that I had to jump through MORE red tape because I was misled into believing they were going to help me. Proceed with caution.
