I went to Demeti with my parents following recommendation of a local friend. It was one of the highlights of my recent trip to Istanbul and one of my best food experiences there. The food was just delicious and simply perfect. I picked different mezes based on waiter's advice and after discussing it with him.
The sea bass in raki sauce was fantastic and lamb as a main course was simply superb. They brought freshly made potato chips just right from fritter, it was still hot and crispy.
We were so full so we did not go for desserts but they nevertheless brought us some baklava as a compliment - we could not resist it. That required a bit of a walk after dinner to get rid of least some calories.
The place is full of locals everyday of the week. It is so cosy and the ambience is just great.
All waiters were very kind and attentive. When I showed up there again at the end of my trip they greeted and treated me like a family member.
Highly recommend Demeti. Make sure to book it in advance. Ask for a table on the terrace (two weeks in advance) or near the window.
Trust them with your choice if you do not know what to order.
Even though the locals mostly drink raki, their choice of red and rose' wines were surprisingly good to accompany the dishes.
Enjoy it! read more
