Deluxe dental on Dort hwy is a terrible dentist. Appointment at 2, they do 19 separate x rays and then say I need a root canal. Ok. They Numb my teeth at like 2:45-3. I sit there until 3:45 and they say it's gonna be atleast another 20-30 minutes because the doctor already started another procedure. So by the time the doctor would be done I would have to be numbed ONCE AGAIN because it would've wore off. What a waste of my time and a load of bullshit. read more

My attempt to have work done with Deluxe Dental was the absolute worst experience I have ever had in 60 yrs of dealing with ANY type of professionals. (And I'm doing the term "professionals" a great injustice by including them here.) With 1 exception (Alvin), the incompetency, negligence, rude, inept and disreputable way that almost all of their associates consistently handled my case was inexcusable and so extreme that it was unbelievable ... almost humorous, IF it didn't cost me thousands of dollars, months of my time, and my emotional and physical well-being. Their total lack of planning and consideration, their dishonesty and the inability of their dentists to show up for appointments (3 times!) ended up costing me $4000 in lost insurance benefits, months of wasted time, and more frustration and anxiety than I can describe. Deluxe Dental promised me in November that they had the ability, time and skill to place two implants and make 1 bridge by the end of the year so I could use my $4000 in insurance coverage from the 2 dental plans I had in place especially for this work. (I chose my 2024 Medicare provider based on its generous implant coverage. Unfortunately, Aetna was dropping their implant coverage in 2025 so my time constraints for getting work done in 2024 were thoroughly discussed when planning my work with this office.) What I didn't plan for was them wasting all of December. Some of the issues encountered were: 1. They sent me to the wrong office to get the work done; and 2. The office kept rescheduling my work. (One appointment missed by the dentist in mid-December was rescheduled for TEN days later because the dentist was sick (for one day, not ten). Then the dentist had to go to a funeral); 3. Another appointment was wasted because the office did not have the material on hand needed to do the work; and finally, after promising me nothing else would go wrong, 4. The dentist didn't bother to show up for my Dec 30th appointment, the last possible day for me to use any part of my 2024 dental insurance. All that Deluxe Dental managed to get accomplished in 1 month and 6 or 7 appointments was to pull 2 teeth. I had appointments throughout December at their Warren, Berkley (3-4 times) and Southfield locations in my attempt to do whatever and go wherever need be in order to get something, ANYTHING, done. (I travel for work 95% of the time so, by not getting any work done in December, I'm without half my bottom teeth for many months more, until I have a few weeks off to restart this process again elsewhere.) To make all this even worse, when I was in tears and tried to explain my frustrations to the dentist I was introduced to in late December, I was told by the receptionist at the Berkely office to shut up. (This was the same woman who hung up on me when I asked why I had to wait an additional TEN days, (until the end of the month) to reschedule my mid-December implant appointment because the dentist was "sick". Did the dentist have a rare 10 day flu??? It made me more than a little nervous to wait this long, given my time constraints (and the unreliability of this office.) However, when I dared to question the long wait time, I learned that phone etiquette is not one of the job requirements for the woman who handles the phone in that office. Sadly, when I showed up for my last scheduled appointment on Dec 30th, the final day to get any work done, I wasn't surprised that the dentist couldn't bother to show up...(and the office couldn't be bothered to tell me not to make the hour round trip drive). However, I WAS surprised that Deluxe Dental managed to find one last way to sink lower by telling me, ONE day before the end of the year, that I should go somewhere else! Again, ONE day before my insurance ran out ((when there is a 0% chance of seeing a specialist, as a new patient, on Dec 31)), the temporary front desk clerk was told to inform me that I need to go elsewhere to see a specialist for all the work that Deluxe Dental had been telling me for months that they could and would do! Unbelievable, in every sense of the word!!!! IF there was ANY truth to that, I wonder why no one at Deluxe Dental figured this out by the 7th time they saw me. Before they had me drive all over the Detroit area for appointments! Was it their profound inability to plan or their total lack of consideration or their complete inability to assess a basic dental situation and their own skill level that was the problem? Do you want these same dentists performing oral surgery on you??? (Obviously, their change of heart was more likely due a spur of the moment excuse for their numerous blunders. Whatever the reason, I'm sure minimal thought went into the decision, as it had throughout our interactions.) In conclusion, Deluxe Dental was horrendous to deal with. They put me through hell and cost me thousands, plus time I didn't have and my health. Avoid them at all costs. read more

When to front desk to ask how much longer the wait would be and she asked what chair I was in, they took someone in my chair that quick, my mom said she watched and they didn't even clean the chair. Most traumatizing visit ever..... Dr. Rana Altweel Placed 3 fillings on me in about 40 minutes, they felt rough and had no smoothness to them whatsoever. Two of these fillings were near the gum line on my first and second molars. She said "these probably won't stay because they're on the gum line" while she did the fillings.... she was right, within a single day the first filling fell out leaving my root exposed and I was then in excruciating pain all through New Years. Two weeks later my second filling fell out. I had to pay cash to get my first molar pulled, $280, and cash to have a new filing placed on my second molar, $240. I will never go back to Deluxe Dental and wouldn't recommend my worst enemy go there. read more

Came in for a walk in around 11am. 3 hours later nearly 2pm still waiting in the same spot. I'm really good at hurrying up to wait, but 3 hours with people coming in after me being seen before me is insane! Especially since I drove over an hour to get here. One receptionist said she can reschedule me for another time when I was 2 hours in waiting, and in my head I was thinking, ok well are you going to pay for the mileage it took to get here and get back and then pay again for the same distance in mileage for my new appointment.. but I didn't say any of that. I kindly asked how much longer will it be? She said they were cleaning a room as we spoke for me. I thanked her. Now, an hour later from that moment, bringing me to 3 hours now, I'm still waiting. I honestly wouldn't recommend this place to any friend of mine. Maybe an enemy. But definitely no friends. I appreciate honesty and being upfront. What I think is highly unprofessional is not sticking to your word. Just let your word yes mean yes and no mean no. If I didn't desperately need this visit I would totally walk out, but not only do I need this visit to a dentist but I also don't have the gas money to just up and leave driving more than an hour away to reschedule. All I can say is if you choose this place for your dental needs, which is no more an option for me, just be prepared to wait, long. And then some. Had to up my rating because of a dental assistant I believe. Pretty nice gentleman. Explained how they're understaffed and apologized it's taken so long. He seemed pretty cool. Everything was good in the waiting room, everything was normal. I get called back, this chair that I have to lay my back on is dirty and has no liner. They put a very obvious used and unclean (with spit and god knows what else) apron thing to do x-rays. The dude leaves after having to find smaller camera things to use. Another assistant came into the "room" and took the nasty apron off me and goes "why would he leave you like this?" My thoughts exactly. I waited twenty minutes just to hear this dude who's been making me wait go "can I go to the bathroom." I'm already extremely annoyed and wait another ten minutes before getting up and walking out to the waiting room. I stand by the desk area and wait for someone to just cancel my appointment and no one is helping me but five other assistants were in the corner just talking away. Very nice folks. Pleasant and easy to schedule and deal with. The best part is the hygienist nicknamed "Row". Row is a superstar personality who will put you at ease. Row is also a good hygienist. Like another reviewer, I was told I need extensive work, which went contrary to everything I had been told about the condition of my mouth by several other dentists in recent years. The one negative which keeps me from making this my dental home is a torture device used to facilitate taking xrays. This device hangs partially out of the mouth, with the bulk of the weight precariously balancing and pushing against the soft tissue of the mouth. The device crew blood in my mouth. The tech said all xrays at Deluxe use this device. It is the next day, and parts of my mouth are still swollen and sore from this "high-tech torture device". read more

I'm confused as to why this place books appointments but when you arrive 15 minutes early for your appointment you end up waiting 2 plus hours to be seen. I've been told by Claudia at the front desk that they take walk ins and "emergencies" first come first serve...which makes no sense if you book an appointment months in advance. Even if this place has ZERO patients you will be waiting HOURS. They also have dirty work places. If you throw garbage into the can and miss, pick it up and place it in the bin... instead of leaving dirty tissues and gloves all over the place. When you ask the status of your appointment, you will be starred at and ignored. When you do have an "emergency" appointment, you will be booked to come in at 9:30AM and leave at 1:45PM. When the whole process only took 15 minutes. Go somewhere else, this place is a joke. read more

WARNING - avoid this business!!! Was in need of a dentist and decided to try the dentist office on Dort Hwy & Atherton Rd in Flint. As a new patient I had to fill-out several forms and wait. The waiting area/lobby was freezing cold and DIRTY and very LOUD with two LOUD televisions going PLUS the LOUD conversations of several people having LOUD phone conversations. Waited an hour and then taken to back exam areas and waited some more. A woman came in and did NOT introduce herself. She immediately said "ok, lets get several x-rays" WITHOUT having talked to me or asking what my problem was and WITHOUT having even looked inside my mouth??? I did NOT know who this woman was and was concerned and confused. When I began to ask questions, she became CONDESCENDING and RUDE and actually said "look, I don't care what you think or do". When I said "I do not understand what is happening?" the woman became BELLIGERENT and called for security to call 911!? Especially as a new patient, what happened to introductions and talking with a patient and explaining how the process works and why? There was NO consideration, NO care, NO compassion. If I could leave a zero I would have. The people were very nice and courteous and yes they got me in pretty fast, but what I didn't like was that the dentist told me that I had 4 cavities and told my sister in law she had 10! I've never had a cavity in my life and take really good care of my teeth so I was suspicious. So I went for a second opinion to my old dentist who has been my dentist all of my life and is very knowledgeable and i trust him. He looked at my teeth and super fast said no I had no cavities! I had to change dentists because he doesn't take medicaid which i am on now. It is pretty hard to find a dentist that takes medicaid, but I will continue to look for a good one. They even had a secretary at the front desk who just made me laugh every time I went into the office. Thank God for this dentist. I woke up on a Saturday morning with the worst tooth ache I've ever experienced. I called around to different emergency dental clinics and the few that were open did not even accept Medicaid. This one did and I was able to walk right in without an appointment. The staff was really friendly and the dentist was very professional and polite. He came back to numb me two more times after the first to make sure I was as comfortable as possible. He extracted my tooth like an ace. I am very appreciative of these professionals for providing great dental care to those of us who have Medicaid and are less fortunate. Not many dentists out there accept Medicaid but they do. I've been to a few different dentists in the area that accept Medicaid and none can compare. THOSE 5 STAR REVIEWS ARE NOT RECENT.I am new to Flint and was referred by a friend. I needed a few fillings before I got a new partial that would take 2 visits. Last week I had a 5 pm appointment, waited in the lobby 40 minutes and then in the back for another 30 before I saw a dentist. He told me the other dentist, a woman, left promptly at 5 leaving him to deal with all the patients that were left, and there were several, including 1 woman who was there all day? WTF?. He bounced from patient to patient until everybody was taken care of. He told me they closed at 6:30 pm and I was there until way after 7 pm. I could tell HE cared so I made the same appointment for this week on the same day to see HIM specifically again. I left work early to go home and shower and change clothes before going to the dentist. Just being polite right? I ran into new construction on the way and I was 11 minutes late. I was then told they were already packing up to leave ( at 5:11 pm and they close at 6:30) and SHE would NOT see me and that I had to make another appointment to come back. WHAT? Apparently HER time is way more valuable then yours is. You can wait over an hour and that's ok, but don't be a few minutes late because you won't be seen. My appointment wasn't with HER anyway, it was with the MALE dentist that was not even there. The office is not in an area you would want to have to walk through at night. Strip clubs, peep shows and prostitutes line Dort highway all along this strip. Do yourself a favor and go get some QUALITY care somewhere else. I did NOT make another appointment. One of the best dental offices i have ever been to. My wife had 10 teeth pulled yesterday and wow the staff is so awesome they bend over backwards to accommodate your needs. The doctor or head dentist is very informational and makes sure that you are comfortable before she does her work. Horrible service! First of all the wait was 1 hour and 45 minutes just to be taken back. Then another half hour before I saw the dentist. The assistant told me they always overbook and this is the standard time to wait. I guess its all about the money and service is not important. The waiting room was really dirty and dusty. It looked like everything needed to be wiped with a Lysol wipe. A thick coating of dust on all the furniture. Made me wonder about the cleanliness of the dental work area. The dentist was Dr. Kizy.
