He helped me expand the size of my kitchen without changing the footprint of the space and with beautiful but cost-effective materials transformed it from a dingy, dated space to a bright hearth of my home. He also introduced me to the versatility and sustainability of LVP flooring, installed in a cool and contemporary herringbone pattern. Both projects have not only made my house a warmer place to be but also have undoubtedly increased its value. Finally, Shawn went above and beyond on my project, helping me control costs by teaching me how to do some of the more complicated demolition and by helping me address some smaller projects along the way. In my attempt to "support local business," I came across Marble Polish LLC - a/k/a Cabinets and…read moreGranite - while searching Craigslist on the Treasure Coast. Having recently finished floors, painting, and a new central air conditioning system, it was the kitchen's turn to be replaced. Having left an initial message seeking more information, the business owner - Marinel - quickly returned my call. After learning that I could visit his showroom, I decided to make the trip. Located a mere 3.6 miles from my home in Vero Beach, I found my way to 445 9th Street SW - not far from US 1 on Oslo Road - in a strip industrial warehouse center. Disappointment from the start - my Black Friday visit to Marble Finish LLC was a total and complete waste of time. On the telephone, Marinel had advised that a new kitchen could be installed in 14 days, following a free estimate. Did I say "free estimate?" It's a free estimate if you want to wait two weeks for Marble Finish to make the 3 mile trip to measure out your kitchen. Then - if you make a decision - you wait another 14 days for the actual kitchen itself. After looking around the Marble Polish showroom, Marinel advised that the Craigslist post detailing a "Kitchen Cabinets Special" for $3,500 was no longer applicable and that a complete kitchen could run anywhere from $7 - $8,000.00. When questioned about a quicker than 2 week estimate, Marinel advised that he could send his wife to my home the very next day if I wanted to pay a $50.00 fee - in cash. It was his contention that many potential customers wasted their time with "free estimates" and ended up shopping elsewhere. Marinel indicated that if I purchased a kitchen, the $50.00 would be credited back to the sale. When I told Marinel that I would be willing to pay the $50.00 fee for the estimate - but only upon his wife showing up at my home - he found this unacceptable. He also asked me to stop taking photos, although I advised that they were to share with my wife and kids for "kitchen ideas." Double the price on the kitchen "special" and no "free estimate" - I have a problem with this. The term "bait and switch" comes to mind. Time to leave and support another local business as Marinel Ion at Marble LLC, a/k/a Cabinets and Granite certainly has no interest in supporting the local community in which he begs business from. We met with the sales person who provided us a plan cost for the renovation. They were very limited as to what they could do. The one thing that I did not like was that it would've been piece fiberglass type of modular unit. The other thing I like was that it would've required a step over into the shower space. We went to Island Homes and Renovations showroom in Vero Beach and met with the owner J. J. first of all the showroom is gorgeous and has many different examples on display. They had a large variety of tile and fixtures for us to look at as well. JJ is so knowledgeable about the renovations and homes that he was able to give us a ballpark price of what we were looking at as we find tuned the details of what we want. The price was just slightly higher than the other company, but it was exactly what we wanted. So we decided to contract with him and we could not be more pleased with the result. It pulling permits and inspections, which is what we wanted and we got exactly what we asked. The entire experience was well worth it. The new shower is gorgeous. It was very easy working with JJ and his team. They were always on time and they were immaculate with whatever process they were involved in. I cannot speak more highly about them. And I highly recommend Islande Homes and Renocations for your next project especially if you want a high-quality job to be done.
