I arrived 20 minutes before my scheduled appointment time, but I was not called back until approximately 40 minutes after my appointment time. I understand that clinics can run behind, and that was not my main concern. What was most disappointing was the interaction once I was seen. I was told that she could only address one concern because the appointment was scheduled for 20 minutes, and she emphasized that documentation takes time. I understood that the visit was limited, and I asked if she could at least briefly look at my other concern. My intention was not to delay her or keep her running behind. Ultimately, she spent less than 10 minutes with me. I felt that the way the limitations of the appointment were communicated was unnecessarily rude and that I was being scolded for asking about my second concern. As a nurse at UC San Diego who works in a clinical setting, I understand the pressures of a busy clinic and the importance of documentation. However, I would never want a patient to feel that they were being reprimanded simply for bringing up a legitimate health concern that was on my referral. I would expect the same level of professionalism, courtesy, and patient-centered communication that I strive to provide to my own patients. Unfortunately, I left the appointment feeling dismissed rather than heard or cared for. I will not be going back to see her.

After being introduced to the concept of "concierge medicine", I was blown away by the price tag of over $500-1000/month that was not managed through insurance. If you're going to ask for that much money all being out of pocket, you need to at least have a consult visit to discuss exactly what's involved, meet the doctor, and visit the office to allow me to weigh whether that's worth it and it's a match. Going off the little information that was provided on the phone and the immediate sticker shock that you would pay with the first visit, I decided this was not for me.

Medicine and quality physician care is one area where I will never skimp. I researched excellent internists before coming to Dr. Tagdiri. I even posted a thread on the app "Next Door" dedicated to finding an excellent internist. Those recommendations were only the beginning. Then I conducted extensive background and training checks. This was how I narrowed my selection to Dr. Tagdiri. I love this wonderful Physician. His office staff are easy to deal with and are great at scheduling appointments so there is never a long wait. Dr. Tagdiri gave me my first extensive physical exam and in the process discovered a heart irregularity. I'm scheduled with an excellent cardiologist to check that out this afternoon. When my neighbor recommended Dr. Tagdiri she described him as "a great internist and an incredible person". I've come to see her point. He's both. I came down with an awful case of Chronic Bronchitis this past winter. My lungs were wheezing and I have never coughed so hard in my life. My insurance refused to cover the cost of an inhaler. I was tight for money and unable to justify paying cash. We pay so very much for our insurance and money was tight. I explained this to Dr. Tagdiri. A few moments later he excused himself from the room and returned with a sample inhaler (which gave me 30 days of treatments) that he gave me free of charge. Final note: I am not a Concierge patient at all. Just a regular patient the same as everybody else.
