His father who served in the National Guard and was active duty, will be retiring from the police force in 10 years. He has his own plane and plans to flight privately to keep income coming in once he retires. His son is interested in going into the Air Force Academy at this time. During the flight he had to combat a wasp in the cockpit which he is not fond of and his mom was so proud he was able to handle the situation so maturely. It won't let me post the video clip so I took a pic of it as a visual. It was so thoughtful for Delta State to be a part of this program offered by about one dozen colleges. It is a generous $20,000 scholarship. He is learning so much and it has been a fantastic experience for him.

I spent my teenage years…read moredreaming of going off to some university far away from the Mississippi Delta, but I ended up going to MDCC like so many others in my family have. Despite still dreaming of getting far away from this small area, I don't regret coming to MDCC; in fact, I'm so glad I did. I have grown and matured so much since coming to MDCC. I have developed from a timid girl who was too scared to say what was on her mind to someone who is willing to say it like it is, step up, and take charge of things. I was never involved in things in high school and had only three friends; at MDCC, I have become involved in almost everything and have made so many friends that I am grateful for. The academics are great at MDCC, and my teachers have all pushed me to do my best. I feel prepared for my future thanks to MDCC, and I am so grateful for attended there.

So caring and a product of the delta. She has great stories as well. as a proud NEH scholar, I would recommend this program to any teacher. Their learning center is also full of rich history. I cannot say enough good things about them! Also if you want to pick up some Delta gear (po monkey's, blues trail, etc.) this is the place to do it. Stop by and learn something new!
