The iconic Bessborough Hotel did not disappoint! Had a great sleep in the Queen beds with delicious sheets and pillows. Love the old timey vibe and furnishings that make this hotel stand out from more modern counterparts. It's a quiet location bordering green space and the river. Staff were very friendly and always smiling. I used the pool which was sparkling clean. The fitness center offered cardio and some weights as well as a weight machine. We had a river view room but the windows could have been cleaner to enhance the view. Parking was about $18/day and right next to the hotel in a small private lot. Easy walk to many restaurants and shops downtown, plus the extensive riverside parks. Definitely a good choice if staying in Saskatoon. read more

I've been in Saskatoon since Tuesday evening and my home away from home was the Delta Hotels Bessborough. The room rate ranged from $169 to $199 a night (plus taxes). Parking was behind the hotel. There was valet parking but self-parking was cheaper at $15/night (which is what I did). WIFI was complimentary ... it wasn't overly speedy. My room had a mini fridge, which was great, but it smelled like French fries. There were a couple bottles of complimentary water, which I appreciated. The first part of the week was warm but the temperatures shifted quickly to cold on Wednesday. I found I couldn't get my room warm ... the highest the thermostat would go was 24.5C but the room temperature never got above 21C. The carpet was kind of bumpy and lumpy at the end of the bed. It should be lifted and pulled towards a wall to flatten it out. I found it strange that they would leave it like that. I chose not to have my room serviced ... I could be rewarded in points for that or I could have trees planted in Alberta (I chose the trees). There was a fitness room and pool but I didn't get a chance to use them. The hotel is downtown and walkable to lots of restaurants, shopping, etc. Though the building is beautiful and historic, I don't think I'd stay here again. read more

This hotel has lots of old-fashioned charm, especially on the outside of the building. The inside has been largely modernized. The hotel was quite expensive during the nights of my stay (just over $800 for two nights), but it was during a large event happening in the area. I also opted for a room with a view of the river, which was definitely worth it. We had breakfast one morning in the Garden Court Cafe, which was good. I also used the swimming pool, which allows users to do some lap swimming (I estimate the pool is about 12.5m in length) - at least if the pool is vacant, which luckily it was when I visited. The gym seems spacious and has a lot of equipment. It was also nice that the fitness amenities are available 24 hours per day. And all the staff was very friendly and helpful. Only real issue was that coffee supplies in the room were limited, and there was no coffee available in the lobby. Which makes it difficult for those who like to have more than 1 cup. However, the Garden Court Cafe was helpful in providing take-away cups of coffee after our breakfast. If you stay here, definitely make sure you take a walk along the river. There is a great paved trail just behind the hotel. read more

The individuals next door Have done nothing but be extremely loud and disturbing to the point that we are unable to sleep. It is now 12:45am. And nothing but profanity and constant noise. The place is not worth $150 a night. This is the kind of. Inconsiderate service one would expect from a value priced motel. Was my first stay here most defiantly will be my last stay here. If your wish is a peaceful nights sleep this is so not the place for you. If you wish to sleep in the middle of a night club with profanity and excessively loud drunken fools slamming doors. My partner and I stayed here for 2 tonights due to it being in the heart of downtown as well as it being a Marriott Rewards property. The building itself is stunning and full of character as it was one of the original Canadian Pacific Railway hotels. We stayed in their standard king city-view room. The room was small (due to the configuration of the heritage building), but looked updated with modern finishes. The bathroom was very tight as the door could almost touch the sink when you enter. Be also aware of the faucets as a murky brown water initially came out of the bathtub when we turned it on. I notified the front desk about the issue, but there lacked attention to my complaint as the agent merely said "it happens sometimes" and I received no follow-up for the rest of my stay. Request your room to be away from the elevators! Our room was right by the elevator, and you can hear every single person passing by. This was especially unsettling as we stayed during a busy weekend with multiple weddings, so there were many people passing by and using the elevators that day, we could hear every conversation happening outside. One perk we enjoyed at the Bessborough were the complimentary bike rentals. The bikes were a great way for us to explore the city as we didn't have a car. Upon this experience, I would recommend paying the premium on my next visit to get a higher and more spacious room read more

I attended a Christmas party at this event location. My gluten-free meal was pre-ordered. However, despite this, I was sent to the buffet line (not even first - which increases the risk of contamination). I was advised that most items were gluten-free (despite many that I knew were not). I've stayed at The Bess many times. It's unique because of it's history in the city of Saskatoon. I remember when they had an outdoor swimming pool. It was wonderful to lay in the sun , look at the beautiful historic building and enjoy some R & R time. As an actual guest, this hotel is what it is. It's old and has character. It is similar to staying in any of the numerous boutique hotels in San Francisco. Rooms are smaller, sound travels and the windows are old. It's called 'character' people. I like staying at The Bess for the fact that it is an interesting and beautiful hotel with a story to tell. A bonus was that our last visit was comped. Because the maid service did not stock bath towels in our bathroom, our stay was free. How could one complain about that? We didn't request compensation. It desk staff asked us how our visit was and we said excellent and thanked them for bringing the towels we called for so promptly. We are planning another trip to Saskatoon this summer and my fiance is already asking if we are staying at this hotel. read more

A nice place to stay over the Halloween weekend... If the Sedgewick, the Hollywood Tower, and the Overlook Hotel made an evil hotel baby...It would be this place. The rooms are small but the hotel is rich in character. The heat didn't work but the friendly facilities team sent up a space heater right away which worked out just fine. Downstairs, the Japanese restaurant is kitschy and fun, reminiscent of old tiki bars from the 70's. I had a swell time and would come back again. read more

Saskatoon really isn't a vacation destination, but more of a working city for business and industry. Came to the area to tour the potash mines (PCS is largest producer in the world), located about 30 miles outside of town. Wonderful old world hotel, all the amenities one could want. Beautiful surroundings, good food, reluctant service The Bessborough Saskatoon is built along the picturesque banks of the South Saskatchewan River. The Garden Court Cafe affords a beautiful view of the hotel's spacious grounds and the river. We booked a table for four at 11 AM Saturday, just after the breakfast buffet closed. Our first impression of the restaurant was that the staff seemed decidedly unhappy to see us. Our waitress shot us occasional glances, never lingered a moment more than she needed to, even though there were only three tables with guests in the entire restaurant. An example is when she asked if everyone wanted coffee -- we all said yes and she ran before the two who also wanted orange juice could ask for it. The food from the breakfast menu was average for a breakfast menu, definitely nothing to write home about. My Chocolate French Toast (Chocolate, Banana, French Toast, and Saskatoon Berry Coulis - what's not to love) was good, others had good comments about their breakfast as well. The only rave review I heard from our table was the Local Trout Benedict which apparently was excellent. By the end of the meal our server had started to lighten up and appeared to like us a bit, although we did not push our luck and stick around for desert. Overall, this restaurant affords a spectacular view of the river (ask for a window seat, as there are only two tables beside windows), and reasonable food. Crappy service, noisy, run down. Front desk was rude and unhelpful at check-in. We got here at 330 and there was a line up for people waiting for rooms to finished being cleaned. We finally got in around 430. Everytime we asked a question about parking, the girl held out her arms, pointed left and right and said "parking is on either side" no matter the question. (How much is parking? How do i get to the parking lot? Where can i park? Where is the handicap parking?) The place is old and poorly maintained. construction, street noise and wind came through the windows loud and clear. Lots of traffic starting at 6am. As well there was really loud banging on my floor starting at 630 - sounded like someone closing a large metal dumpster over and over. The gym was subpar as well. Weird equipment. People would also walk through using it as a thoroughfare fro the patio bar - wery distracting for working out. I used to stay at this hotel because it had something that the other hotels didn't - ie a REAL gym, one with actual weights! Sure there was a lot of cardio, but this place had weights when most places (i'm looking at you Radisson) dont have enough weights to give my Grandma a workout. Sadly I turned up today......no gym. its been reduced to the standard pathetic excuse that nearly every hotel has for a 'fitness center'. So now Delta is just another standard hotel, only with smaller, draftier rooms and old soft matresses. I think one of the other reviewers called it 'character'. The rooms have gone from dank and poorly maintained to stunning. There is also a great business desk/centre with electronic hookups for almost any device you need to use. Well done. For being a swanky hotel it didn't fit the hotel bill. As shown by my pictures the bathroom wasn't up to high end hotel standards. The bathroom sink hardly worked. The flooring was patched right by the sink banister. The tile around the shower faucet was done by a grade 9er who forget his glasses in his moms car. The garbage wasn't dumped by the bed. The white sheets were stained. But hey no bed bugs!! read more

I loved this beautiful hotel. The grounds are stunning and the interior is very elegant and classy. We arrived well after 1 AM to check in and the front desk agent Cher, on hour 10 of a 14 hour shift was delightful and pleasant. The club level lounge provided a delicious spread for breakfast on both days that we dined. The attendant Ethan was incredibly attentive professional and courteous. The room was a nice size very comfortable clean and modern given The age of the hotel itself. I really enjoyed seeing historical photos throughout the hallways. There is a full-service gym indoor pool as well as a connected spa though we did not utilize any of these amenities. I really enjoyed our stay here. read more

For the price and the reputation I was expecting better than this. The elevators smelled horrible, and even after the ride up to the second floor where our room was, my immediate reaction upon walking in was that the room smelled. We were able to open the window about 4 inches to air it out, which helped. My biggest concern was the standard of cleanliness. First I noticed that all of the glass/mirrors where poorly cleaned and streaky - ok, maybe they just need a different glass cleaner. But then, when I was able to get the second closet door open, I found a coffee bar hat still had a disposable coffee cup filled with garbage. They also did not clean our room during the day. We had asked them to come back in half and hour when they came to tidy up initially, but he never came back. We had to call the front desk and wait 20 minutes for towels the next morning instead. Aside from that, the location was good and the staff were friendly and helpful. I also appreciated the built in power bar on the desk which let us plug in all of our devices with ease. read more

This hotel definitely deserves the four stars for charm and character. There was no peeling paint or anything whatsoever in my room as previous reveiwers noted; my room must have been renovated. What 'flaws' I could find were part of the character -- scratches on the dresser, for example, or the fact that the old washroom door would not stay open on its own but kept shutting by itself. Really, in an old hotel, these things are the least of worries. A friend pointed out that there is very little counter space but I spread my cosmetics on the desk in the bedroom and was not bothered in the slightest. I absolutely loved the extra details in the hallway and also in the room -- great, big windows, a Delta Bessborough accent pillow on the bed, etc. I also LOVED the smart desk that came with my room. I could charge all my devices and also hook up my laptop to the TV. Free wifi in the room too, though it's the annoying kind you have to log into in your browser every time (so you can't use your appletv in the room, if so inclined). I also liked the different fruit infused water they offered daily in the lobby (strawberry, orange, lemon, cucumber on different days). The staff was plenty friendly enough, and parking was, indeed, small as other reviewers noted, but I always found a spot and didn't see it full at any time. It was $15/day extra, but I have heard other hotels in the area are the same. In the evenings, I walked to dinner because the location is so central and so I did not have to struggle to find a parking spot later at night when other reviewers said they found the parking lot full. My friend in Saskatoon says this is where all the 'celebs' stay when they come to Saskatoon. The room service is expensive and some things I tried were quite nice while others were disappointing. I have not dined at the teppanyaki restaurant, however. There are too many other options around! Room service is prompt, at least in the mornings. In my eyes, you can't beat the charm or the riverside location so I would stay here again in a heartbeat! read more

The Delta Bessborough is one of the old Canadian Pacific hotels. It has the all the character of those hotels. It has a great location next to the river. It is close to downtown with a great view of the river from restaurants and many rooms. The service is friendly and good. I was never left waiting for anything. There is a good selection of restaurants in the hotel and in the neighbourhood. You can easily find a wide range of food within walking distance. It has an exterior parking lot which is inconvenient in winter. read more
