Driving out there doesn't feel like your going to an Indian as you come down the drive way up to the manor house. Yet the actual restaurant doesn't feel at all pretentious. Its Indian and Mediterranean so if someone in the group is adverse to the spice there is lot of other choice, especially fish. I went expecting a restaurant in a manor to cost an arm and leg and it really wasn't. In fact it was about the same price as our local, only even better taste. The chicken was so tender and the spices were so delicate and flavoursome. We went on a Saturday but apparently there is all you can eat buffet during the week so I might be checking that out very soon.

Surf Side is great in the summer when all you fancy is a nice icy cool drink. However I personally love it in the winter, when you can watch the violent sea through the window, whilst you're all cosy on the sofa enjoying the wood burning stove inside! The food is excellent, especially their Victoria spongecake which is mouthwateringly good! Cakes aside they also serve sandwiches, ciabattas, paninis, as well as hot and cold drinks. It has become a family ritual, that after a nice walk along the coast path we always finish up here for a hot chocolate and cake!
