Excellent portion size, fantastic flavor, and the most perfectly tender, well-seasoned meats we've ever had, period, let alone with a curry. Highlights were the chicken tikka (grilled breast meat), chicken tikka masala vindaloo, and very original takes on starters like chicken pakora and meat samosas, but every dish was spot on. Yes, what we ordered was more English-Indian, but you should expect any dish ordered from the menu, to be the most fantastic version you've ever tasted. Side dishes like peshwari nan, pilau rice are well cooked and tasty plus one of the best chutney trays with popadums. As the Bengal Brasserie is off the main drag of Indian restaurants it generally is possible to get a table on all but the busiest nights without any problem. Parking is always easy too and service is friendly and helpful.

I must admit that I haven't tried more than a couple of items on the menu as I have fallen in love with 'my dishes', but that seems to be true of most people who I know eat there. Small word of warning, but not a criticism, if you go for the buffet you won't get the same range and quality of flavours, but then the same is true of most restaurants. All in all a fantastic place to get a top quality Indian meal in Swansea, if you get the chance try it, I promise you, you wont want to eat anywhere else!

It was a few different pubs, a classic British restaurant and just a building at various times, before the smart guys who now run it, came and opened up a classy Indian restaurant. It was opened as 'Bombay Spice' and took only a few weeks before establishing itself in Swansea as one of the premier spots for a curry. It was done out very tastefully, and was one of the first of its kind - the modern Indian restaurant, which is now so popular across Britain - decorated in a fashionable, clean style with few references to Indian culture. The food expresses the culture all by itself. Excellent Indian food. That's it, basically. Great service and lovely surroundings. When the capital of India changed from Bombay to Mumbai, the restaurant kept up and changed its name too. They also opened another restaurant with the same principals of excellent, authentic Indian food, good service and trendy decor in St Helen's Road, and that has been equally successful. Obviously it is a very popular place for my old household to go to, because there is a 2 minute walk home. Otherwise, there is some free parking available.

Miahs is located in an old church which has been remodeled to accommodate 2 story seating, with much of the buildings original character retained. Sitting there enjoying lamb rogan josh, I couldn't help but wonder what the 18th century craftsmen who originally built the structure would think about 4 Americans dining on Indian food in their church! If I ever found myself in Swansea again this restaurant would certainly make my 'must do' list.
