My close friend's care was the physical therapy she required after breaking her leg. She is 71 years old. IRHC is for any age! And my mother's care? Well, all I can say is it was great and is still going on. My mother (92 years old) fell and broke her elbow. she required home assistance with all basic needs, and physical and occupational therapy. My mother in law was diagnosed with dementia several years ago. My father in law thought he could…read moretake care of her, and while we encouraged him to get help, even offering to research places for him, he stood fast on his decision to take care of her. Until he couldn't. This past year, we learned that he wasn't taking care of her, leaving her in her bed, for days on end, trying to feed her and bathe her, on his own, but with a bad back and knee issues, he stopped doing these things. He never asked for help. I tried, numerous times, to encourage him to talk to Linda, at Pelican Landing. Finally, after she "slipped" off the bed, he called us to help get her off the floor. We drove 2 hours, as fast as we could, running inside (I advocated for him to call 911 but he refused), we helped her off the floor and into her bed. This is when we found out the truth. He could not provide care for her, at all. I contacted Linda, at Pelican Landing, and within a few days, I picked my mom's room, and had my father in law sign the papers. They assessed my mother in law, helped her to the hospital, and then arranged for her to move in directly from the hospital. All of this would not have happened if it wasn't for the help of James Brassard, Linda, and Latoya. James was on the phone with me every day, making sure I was comfortable with my mother's care and helped with the transition. I honestly have no idea what we would have done without him. James still keeps in touch, for updates, and he is always available, if we need him. The nursing staff is doing such a great job, too. It is wonderful to see her quality of life improve so much! The facility was very clean and well maintained. When I had an issue with the AC the maintenance team promptly addressed it. The food was very good, I enjoyed it mostly. I felt well attended to, although on a few occasions it did take a bit of time for the staff to come to my room. My only real complaint, is that I was there to regain my strength after an illness. Unfortunately, being confined to a wheelchair 90% of the time, weakened me and caused edema in my legs. I was only allowed to use the walker during PT. I lost strength and agility not being allowed to use it. This should be addressed. All in all, I would recommend Palm Garden to those needing rehab.

My younger brother transferred to assisted living in The Lynmoore At Lawnwood, Fort Pierce,…read moreFlorida, more than a year after he suffered a massive stroke. He had been in and out of intensive care while being bedridden in a different rehab and skilled nursing facility. After many months in that facility he had recovered enough to eat and swallow soft food but he was still unable to walk. Then he came to Lynmoore, just before Christmas in 2023. My wife and I live in California, so we can't visit him in Florida that often, but we did visit for a few days in June, 2024. What a difference! We walked in one day just after his physical therapy session ended; he was walking back to his room with the therapist by his side, not in his wheelchair! That never happened before. This alone would rate five stars, all gold, but there is more. During our visit we interacted with many people: the nurses, the therapists, the community engagement director, the records office, the business office, even the dining hall staff. Everyone was friendly and professional. Residents coming and going were greeted by name. The buildings were clean and well maintained. The food was good; I ordered the same thing that my brother had when we ate together in the dining room.  The affiliated home healthcare and pharmacy services are excellent; I continue to interact with them. However, there is even more to the story. My brother was in such bad shape when he first came to Lynmoore that, during our June visit, a couple of staff members admitted to me that they didn't think he would last in assisted living; he was that bad off. I truly believe he was admitted and flourished because the Wellness Director believed in him, motivated him from the very beginning, and everyone took good care of him around the clock.

She was in the memory care unit and never smelled when I saw her. She was gaining her weight back and was beginning to interact again after a considerable downturn at a horrible place in Jacksonville Florida landed her in the hospital.
