Delapre park is without doubt my favourite park in Northampton. It is ideal for my two boys aged 9 and 5. They can ride their bikes safely and I can walk my beloved lurcher without having to worry about the traffic. There is one road passing through the lower part of the park for lazy people who have to drive into the park. I believe parks should be 100% traffic free, our roads are so congested with heavy traffic and our children should be able to play in at least one place without the risk of getting run over. However the rest of the park is absolutely beautiful and no matter what the weather a stroll around the lake, wooded area and gardens just makes life worth living. The staff in the tearooms are lovely, you can sit outside in their stunning walled garden. I used to think Abington park was the best park in Northampton but you cannot beat this park , there is so much wildlife to be seen, foxes, rabbits, herons, ducks, swans and lots of birds, the people who live near this park should think themselves lucky, I know I do. read more
