You have to have a sense of humor to enjoy shopping at this boutique of surplus odds and ends. Whenever we are in the area visiting the not-to-be missed Dr. Evermore's Sculpture Garden next door we stop here. The place is jammed with surplus stuff including food items (definitely check the expiration dates!), kitchen supplies, tools, fixtures, nuts, bolts, toys, gadgets, electronics, old industrial equipment, gas masks, and once according to legend - coffins! We always spend at least a good 30 minutes wandering around and come away with some treasures that we really don't need. A fun stop! read more

I've driven by this place a million times and have never stopped. I really should have. This is warehouse filled with everything from kitchen supplies, crackers, butterfly nets, magnets that come from hard drives, knitting needles, candlesticks made of sea shells, gigantic screwdrivers, paint, medical scrubs, generic sharpies, all types of workman's gloves, pickles, etc. etc. There was ever half an aisle dedicated to different kinds of duct tape, painters tape, packaging tape, etc. Half the place was filled with tools and machinery, which I can only imagine are greatly discounted, but since I only do typing at work, I don't know what those things do.... The guy running the counter just added up the purchase in his head. Nice guy. I bought knitting needles and he let me know they're getting in yarn in a week or two. If you pay cash you get a discount. Don't miss the bulk cheese fridge just by the door. Three stars since I didn't see much I actually wanted to purchase, but if you're driving by this is definitely worth a stop. read more

If you know what you're looking for, and you can figure out what you're looking at, this is the place for you! From batteries to hand and power tools to candles to restaurant cookware to arc welders to yellow barricade flashers, Delany's has it all! Delany's also has stuff that is beyond all. I could spend hours wandering the aisles here. On a recent visit, I saw trailer parts, undercar receivers, balls, chains and even lights. A collection of hotel vacuum cleaners awaited new homes on an endcap, another endcap had cases of canned pumpkin pie filling stacked up about 4 feet. One entire aisle was full of scented candle, another with tape you never knew existed. Have you ever seen a stock pot the size of a washing machine tub? Delany's has 'em! What I should have purchased, but didn't, was an LED "Walk/Don't Walk" sign with the orange hand and white stick figure bopping along. Of course, I have no idea what I would have done with it if I had bought it. It's south of Baraboo and west of Devil's Lake, on US Highway 12, right across from the site of the (now defunct) Badger Ammunition factory, and just in front of Dr. Evermor's Forevertron, which is another entire story. read more
