This was the camping and festival experience of a lifetime. With 14 stages and tons of activities, it was absolutely worth the 4 days to attend. For starters, it's an amazing hard dance festival and the best workout I've had. I enjoyed how compact and close camping is to the venue compared to other camping festivals, which I can't say the same Tomorrowland, EDC, or Lost Lands, which have really long walks. I have to say, the restrooms at defqon are superior compared to US ones, and the fact that every GA restroom was a flush toilet with lights at night while being cleaned quickly is a huge plus. Every stall had tp stocked, I never went into a stall that was missing TP, and I know it's like that for many international festivals. And other than "Power Hour" which is when the entire 70,000 attendees crowd main stage for 1 hour, most of the stages had plenty of room to dance in, I could walk right up to the front left during the final set at red stage, though bring your earplugs. The festival food on average is cheaper than festival food in the US, I personally never saw any drink over $10 dollars or €9h euros while I know a beatbox would set you back $18, and the most expensive festival food was the personal pizza at $18ish dollars, which is still better than the $80 pizza at EDC. And the quality is better too, I got these fries for $8, this Thai noodles for $14 with an egg roll, and fried fish called kibbeling which is super delicious for $10. So yeah, I loved Defqon for being one of the best festival experiences, it's not easy to survive, but it's an awesome hard dance festival. read more

All I can say is that attending Defqon 1 was a dream come true. It far exceeded my expectations. It is a psychedelic wasteland by far, almost like an adult themed Disney Land. Q-Dance who puts on Defqon 1 and transforms garbage into art. All the art pieces are built from recycled materials, including all the many stages. There is a genre of electronica that can suit anyone's taste buds, those who are into electronic music of course. Defqon 1 has several stages and one main stage. The main stage is where the end show takes place. I don't know about most people but I know for myself, the end show is why I go. There is nothing better to be dancing to Headhunterz while watching a dancing laser sky paired with fire works and fire. It is a sight to be seen and one not to be missed. At Defqon there are several options to party. One of them is buying a Thursday-Sunday ticket, or Friday day ticket as well as Saturday day ticket. Also there are a variety of ways to experience Defqon 1. You can have a day pass and go home, or you can book a hotel along with a shuttle for the Thursday-Sunday pass or just do a Friday hotel stay along with shuttle or Saturday hotel stay along with shuttle. Tickets for Defqon are included in the package deal. There are also options offered at the festival site, you can stay in a tipi, a tent or a bungalow. Variations in days can be arranged as well for camping stays. Tickets sell out mightily fast. You sign up to be put in a cue, when it is your turn you can buy your ticket or if you get lucky you can buy tickets if there are some available on the Q-Dance website. I got on-line the day and time the tickets were released and was able to book 4 over night Saturday hotel stays with Saturday passes. Unfortunately our crew was late arriving to the hotel and we missed the shuttle and had to drive to the festival site, this is not suggested because it took about two hours to park, then about a three mile walk to the festival after we parked. Leaving the festival was the pits because 100,000 people all left at the same time, everyone was courteous to one another, and I really appreciated their passive behavior given the situation we were put in. It took about four hours to leave the parking lot, it was miserable. Some people gave up and partied at their car, recruited more party goes, blasted hardstyle and kept dancing throughout the night. We went on Saturday day, arrived late after 4:00p.m. and the festival ended at 11:00p.m. Saturday, I don't suggest being late and I don't suggest getting a Saturday only ticket. I think the experience would be best appreciated if one booked a Thursday-Sunday pass. There is no way one can see and hear all the talent in one day, the festival goes on for miles and miles, stages are spaced out and you do a lot of walking. No money is to be exchanged at Defqon 1. You can purchase Defqon 1 money. It comes in small breakable tokens. You buy everything at Defqon 1 with Defqon 1 money. I came home with lots of Defqon 1 money tokens so I hope I can use them again next year. Beer and liquor are served. Along with breakfast, fruits, sandwiches, hot dogs and festival food for those who are camping at the festival. Talent is top notch. I can't say enough good things about Defqon 1 festival. read more

In one word: amazing! This festival is the best I've ever been. The music is great, the vibe and people even better! It is visited by people from all over Europe and maybe even further places. My first time there was in 2012, when I went on saturday. It was hard to get a ticket because it got sold out really fast. So it was crowded, especially with parking and at the end when everyone was leaving at the same time. In 2013 I went the whole weekend (friday-sunday) which was even better! You can choose to spend the night on the camping, but we booked a hotel for some more comfort ;-) A few friends of mine stayed at the camping but don't expect much sleep while you're there.. But this year was again really amazing and a great experience. 2014 we are gonna go again for the weekend and I can't wait to see what this year's Defqon is gonna bring us! read more
