He has an overall knowledge of multiple disciplines and even shared some real life experiences during the class. I'm almost twice the woman (IYKYK) I was before. I was afraid that it would be too much and I would get overwhelmed. I was able to acclimate which helped me feel less anxious. My push ups and squats weren't up to par, I know that they'll continue to improve. *Why now? After 30+ years? Two weeks ago I was sucker punched by a violent stranger at Starbucks on Mendo/Steele in SR. I don't want to start a fight but I know I want to finish one, w/out a concussion and my eardrum ruptured. They'll all readily grapple with students and will go into as much detail or walk through/demo as many scenarios as you ask for to get total understanding. Tryfon has also completely blown me away with how knowledgeable he is about jiu jitsu, but how that also translates into real life. Especially when listening to him talk to the kids' class, he gives great lessons, real-world applications, and lays out fair expectations while also encouraging his students to do their best. He's truly a natural leader, and it's good to know that someone so genuine is at the heart of this dojo. Some other reviews have mentioned it as well, but both the instructors and the other students are super friendly, and most folks of all belt colors introduced themselves to me during my first week, making me feel very welcomed. Not only that, but being a part of the LGBTQIA+ community and using they/them pronouns, is so validating hearing all the instructors not only adapt their language to correctly use them, but to ALSO hear them correct others when I get misgendered by someone who may not be as familiar. I am so glad that NBJJ was where I decided to start my martial arts journey, because I'm hooked on the sport, and I already feel at home in the dojo! Oss!

By far, they are the safest. I have done renewals at other services and did not feel safe at times. I never felt this way with Threat Scenarios. I had the pleasure of taking my teenage son out for private training with Ang the other day. Great…read moreday of advanced fundamentals. My son picked it up quick, iron sights and red dots on pistols and rifles, thanks to Ang's style/techniques/drills. I have taken him shooting only a couple times, but it was time he learned how to operate. Ang started him off slowly with safety lessons and proper fundamentals (grip/stance/the mechanics of the firearms), moved him along through some drills while keeping a close eye on safety. He progressed to reload drills, the infamous dot torture, and one handed shooting drills amongst others. He got to shoot paper and steel so he knows how that feedback feels. I brought it all out so he got to sample and choose which firearms he prefers. A couple 9mm carbines and AR15 along with a full size 9mm pistol with irons and a compact 9mm with a dot. Ang led to make it safe, educational, and fun. Time well spent and we plan to do it again this summer. I have had the honor of training with Threat Scenarios on several handfuls of occasions, they always come correct. Every instructor has not only been safety first, but they make it fun because they want you to learn. The instructors' backgrounds allow them to supervise safety while maximizing the most from each student. I highly recommend all of their training classes to sharpen the iron. Not only just for your CCW reqs, but for preparing your mindset and skills. Looking forward to my next training with Threat Scenarios, as well as my sons.

Being able to actually do the physical moves on another person as opposed to having to "pull punches" or just mimic the movements really helped for a better understanding of what is physically necessary. My daughter expressed that she had more fun than she thought she was going to and walked away with a new confidence. We will be organizing an event for our Girl Scout troop after this experience.
