Norwegian Cruises- Port Canaveral - Prima

Norwegian Cruises- Port Canaveral

I cruised out of Port Canavaral twice in three weeks on the Norwegian Prima with very mixed…read moreembarkation and debarkation experiences. Embarkation was mid April for the first cruise and it was seamless. Got to the port around 10:30 am on Sunday. It was a little hectic getting out of the car, but once I had my bags in hand and b-lined to the boarding que, it was smooth sailing. The line wasn't long and I was on the ship in less than 20 minutes. Debarkation was just as smooth. I got in a short line with my bag in hand and walked off the ship in about the same 20 minutes. Getting through customs was a breeze with the facial recognition devices they have. Fast forward to the 2nd week in May. Same port, same ship, different Sunday. I arrived this time at 11:30 am. Embarkation was at another dock. The lines were super long, stood outside in line for about 45 minutes and it was pretty hot. Luckily there was some covering overhead. Still, that line was awful. Once I got inside it was about another 30 minutes to get through the inside que, at least it was air conditioned. And getting off the ship was fairly fast, but then we had to wait outside for about an hour for the shuttle. Not sure what the difference was, because both times the ship was just as crowded. Suffice to say the 2nd experience was awful and what made it more awful was having that great first experience. Showed up to the second cruise with very high expectations. I was thoroughly disappointed. For both cruises, once I was on the ship, the experience was fantastic. Norwegian has a great drink package if you are a drinker. The food is on par with any 4 star restaurants, and that is the free food at the dining halls. There is also specialty dining which is superb. On the Prima between the 2 cruises, I ate twice at the steakhouse, Magnets. Each time I got the ribeye and it didn't disappoint. I ate twice at the French restaurant, Le Bistro. Had the rack of lamb and a sole dish on the subsequent visit. Wow! Also had the mushroom soup and escagot on both visits. Yum and yum. Also got to eat at the sushi restaurant and the Mexican restaurant. The Mexican was really disappointing. Loved everything about the Prima. All total, I have been on that same ship 4 times. Just a final note, the best bartenders on the whole ship are Kasi from St Croix and Sunshine. In my opinion Kasi is the best bartender at NCL hands down. And that is saying a whole lot because the bar staff is on average 4 stars.

Norwegian Prima. The ship itself is in nice appearance and clean. The staff seems very scripted and…read moreafraid to say "yes" and provide services "outside the box." Our suite was clean and spacious with large balcony. The side slide did not obstruct our view. The ample bars were subpar at best....seemed to be waiters who could make drinks vs actual bartenders/mixologist. The cocktails were mediocre. The food on the ship was quality and always came out hot. The food hall had great options but was only open at limited hours of the day. Very small pool areas with very small lounging areas. The race track didn't seem to be busy nor the gaming areas. Standout staff at Cagneys for breakfast and lunch (suite guests private restaurant). The shows were better than most ship shows.

My cabin mate & I bought were offered a specialty restaurant deal not long after getting on the ship; neither of us had been at a specialty restaurant with RC before. Chips Grille was good. We were told that the pasta used in Giovanni was made on the ship. To date, this was the best pasta I've ever had. The entertainment was good, especially the adult game show. I need to book another cruise!

No. There were a lot of line dancing activities, trivia, family friendly movies but if you wanted to watch a movie in your room, you had to pay. Popcorn outside the casino? 2.50. We bought the soda package. If we wanted a bottled water or can of soda while we were actively playing at the casino, we were asked to show our room card and were charged( fixed at guest services). We did get our refillable water bottle fr the soda machines but these stations were sporadically laced and inconvenient. The coastal kitchen restaurant was great. Windjammer buffet, very good. No complaints at msn dining room. Haha one day u was bundled up in towels poolside as it was kinda cd and had been raining. I was asked if I wanted my picture taken. No thanks. It's not the employees fault, I sure there's pressure to sell sell sell. I guess that's what I didn't like most. We had night a nice package and I just wanted to relax and enjoy it.

Very clean ship.

I had the most fabulous time sailing on the Wonder of the Seas last week!…read more I have a friend working on the ship, so my friend and I decided to sail. There was an itinerary change due to the hurricane, but they offered credits and made the most of the situation we were in! We ate at a lot of the different restaurants, checked out the different bars, watched the mainstage shows, enjoyed the pools and more! This ship is huge and there is so much to do. Even with 4 sea days, we still didn't get to do everything. My favorite meal was 150 Central Park and it was definitely worth the upcharge. The signature cocktail was amazing and I loved all the food I tried (pumpkin bisque, scallop app, halibut, fried cheesecake). We also ate at Hook, which was fabulous, especially if you love seafood like me! The shows on this ship are incredible! The Effectors II has some of the best effects I've ever seen in a musical. The bands and specialty acts are amazing! We also loved the water show. Overall, I would definitely recommend this ship for a family trip, girls trip, couples trip... all of the above! We had the best time and I look forward to sailing with Royal again!

I didn't see one area so packed with people. You will also find pools around almost every corner of the outdoor decks. Check-in and check-out were quick and smooth making the boarding and disembarkation process hassle-free. The food was just okay compared to other cruise lines we've been to - Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian Cruise Lines. I was also surprised that there was an extra charge for ordering a second dinner entrée. This ship has a nice gym, but it was packed when we went at 8:30 AM. I heard that it was packed as early as 6:30 AM. I've never experienced this with other cruise ships. Crazy! The app could use some improvement as it was spotty and not always reliable during the cruise. It's also our main means of communication for our group of 10. The entertainment was definitely the highlight of the trip. The shows and performances were excellent and kept us entertained throughout the cruise. 3.5 / 5

Our cabin was located in the same deck as the main dining area so it was a short walk for breakfast or dinner. Their theater is huge and the shows were fantastic! I like the layout of their buffet. Instead of lining up in one long line, there are multiple stations serving the same food which made it more convenient. Speaking of food, it was a hit or miss for dinner and midnight snacks. I enjoyed some of it, but was disappointed with their seafood, pasta, and the burger which lacked flavor. Good thing their pizza was delicious. Overall, I would still recommend MSC Seashore! So many things to do and the staff and service were exceptional!
