This nice little museum is located just south of the town inside the state park. The museum charges $3 admission and contains exhibits related to the ecosystem and wildlife of the bay and surrounding area. It's not an extensive museum so plan on approximately 30 minutes or so to see what they have inside. It's definitely worth the $3 to pay a visit inside. Parking is free in the adjacent lot.

We stopped by with our 3 kids (8, 5, and 2) and the gentleman working there gave us basically a VIP tour of all the exhibits. He was friendly with out kids, answering all of their questions and showing them all the little details of all the ships and exhibits we might have missed if we had walked through it on our own. It was just a lovely experience. Honestly, I just wish it was bigger so we could have spent some more time there. I really hope that they get enough donations over the years to expand. Even if it's slightly. This museum is such a hidden gem and if you have kids, you really should take them to see some important ships to the area's history.

They have an outdoor kids area the kids are sure to love. Their indoor exhibit, although small, is also informative and fun for kids and adults. They have done a very fine job here and think it an excellent place to get oriented to Morro Bay and what makes it special. Quite an incubator of sea life to learn about.

Every tiny thought has gone into making it a temporary home. A well-stocked pantry, multiple coffee and tea options, many spaces to rest, and voluminous books to read. The inside boasted a cook's kitchen and an art museum quality to the furnishings. The feather bed- neigh every pillow, stuffed with soft down to encourage you to sit, read, recharge. Large country tables invited you to share nourishment and merriment with friends. The outside grounds are a combination of manicured plant perfection, while sprinkled with whimsy. And then a real farm. I made myself lunch from the leftover garden of summer. Plucked straight from the ground. I ate the apple off the tree as I had done as a child. I hugged a calf, took the ducks for a walk, and petted a purring rodent control system. This property was meant for strolling, I wandered by the seed barn, the playhouse, and the door that frames the distant mountains. I found a likeness in the garden. In the berry orchard, flanked by an ancient table with empty wine bottles. The setting was welcoming and capricious. Like everything here, such heart went into making each turn a surprise, yet sumptuous. A hawk screeched and circled above me as I tipped my hat to the woman who gives the world splendor and creativeness every day without regret. They have nice places to eat and shop at. Some of our favorites are Dorn's, Giovanni's and Dockside to name a few. Cal Poly is not too far away, in San Louis Obispo. It's definitely worth checking out. You will see lots of surfers at the beach close to Morro Rock.
