We booked the venue a year in advance, since we got married over Memorial Day weekend and venues in May tend to fill up fast. It was a beautiful setting for our wedding ceremony and reception - and I loved having the ceremony and reception at the same venue. (I'm just glad it didn't rain, since the ceremony was outdoors!) We got married on a stone patio overlooking the lake, and the reception took place inside The Chimneys reception hall right next to the patio. My only complaint about the venue was the heat. We had the AC going full blast, but it still got awfully hot. There were many pros, though, in addition to the gorgeous setting! We were able to bring in our own alcohol, and whatever caterer we wanted. We had the entire venue to ourselves for the whole day, which gave us extra time for set-up. Marilyn Zember, the Big Canoe wedding coordinator, was always responsive to our questions and requests, and was helpful throughout the planning process. And The Chimneys was more affordable than most places I looked at in/around Atlanta, too! All in all, it was a fabulous day in a beautiful setting, and I definitely recommend Big Canoe and The Chimneys as a great place to get married or host a fun event! (P.S. There is also a chapel just up the street for those who prefer a chapel setting for their ceremony.)

When we started looking a year ago for a venue for my son's wedding in 2023 (this year), we chose this venue because it was small, charming and very affordable- it was under a different name and ownership. In March of this year (2023) it was sold, and purchased by Southern Grace Event Center. Our wedding was not going to be until June and honestly I had no idea what to expect- from renovations to change in ownership. Let me say, on June 3rd, we could not have asked for a more beautiful setting for a wedding! The venue was BREATHTAKING. The changes and upgrades included an open chapel with beautiful architectural design, new bride and groom suites, a completely renovated indoor reception hall with exposed beams on the ceiling, new chandeliers and floor to ceiling stone fireplace, a covered patio w a fireplace and a passthrough window from the bar (we used this as a cigar bar patio) as well as stunning gardens that included a waterfall, blooming roses and hydrangeas. IT WAS AMAZING! And, the new owner John was a joy to work with--so delightful and accommodating. He honored everything in our original contract and more. He did beautiful shots of the interior of my home and really cool ones of the outside from different angles and using a drone! I never knew how amazing my property looked from above and what was behind my house! He sent me the photos the same day and I loved them and easily downloaded all of them to my computer and then to AirBNB and VRBO the same day as well! It's been 6 days and I have received 5 new bookings on VRBO already!! Usually I get one booking every few weeks so I have to attribute this boom in bookings to Edleman Photography!!
