I was a client of La Rusa for several years, and unfortunately, the quality of their services has…read moresignificantly declined over time. As the business expanded, new accountants joined every year, but each year their competence seemed to drop. In 2025, while filing my 2024 tax return with La Rusa, I asked for an explanation of the numbers and why my taxes were calculated a certain way. I was told they couldn't provide a consultation due to being too busy and not having enough time to respond to all clients. After I expressed my frustration, the owner of La Rusa (who also runs a blog on Instagram) called me. However, the call provided no useful information--just general tax advice that anyone could find online. When I tried to follow up, I was completely ignored. My messages received no replies, and all communication is documented. In the end, I received nothing: no completed tax return, no proper documentation--just vague numbers shared in a chat with no explanation. I eventually terminated my relationship with them and will be disputing the charge, especially since I've now received a letter from a collections agency. Their fees are also nearly double what most other tax professionals charge, and the service simply does not justify the price. It feels like they only care about making money, not about the quality of work or client satisfaction. I strongly do not recommend La Rusa, especially if you filed your taxes with them after 2024--that's when the decline became very noticeable. Be cautious and protect yourself from poor service. Let's see what happens next--this is just the beginning of the fight.

Also, they include in the hard copy they gave you only part of the Arbitration clause that does not stipulate the terms like you may have to pay their arbitration costs even if you win, etc. I talked to the office manager and she is the same way. The long version is I had an appt on 3/30 and she spent almost 2 hrs looking over the documents I brought it and took out what she needed. She said she will call me when she's done with the taxes. After waiting almost 2 wks not hearing from her, I called and practically had to nag the front desk and Iris to get an appointment to come back in on 4/13, 2 days before 4/15. She lied and said she got most of it done but when I asked how much taxes I owed she lied and said it was 1/3rd of what it finally came out to be and asked me to email her the documents again. On 4/13, Iris spent almost 3 more hrs asking me questions that I had gone over my worksheet summarizing all categories that I gave her on 3/30th, the P&L of my rental property and incomes 2 weeks ago. This indicated that she had not even bother to review the paperwork that I brought in. She then did the taxes without including the rental property depreciation which could have lower my income over $3200. I asked her to email me the tax returns and she never did. I got home and went over the hard copy and did not find the depreciation schedule so I called and talked to her again. She said she will email it to me and she never did. I called and talked to her office manager, Sheryl, and she said she will look into it and again never called me back. I finally called corporate and they got me onto the website to download my income tax returns; it does not have the depreciation so I can confirm now that it was not a printing issue; Iris has never did the depreciation schedule. This office is horrible, the people in there don't know what they are doing, they always said they are with a customer and will call you back and they never did. They don't know much about business filing either and don't do your taxes on time. You have to run after them to get things done. Go to another office and don't let them sell your income tax return info.
