When I went to pay for initial exam, the charge for this was over $250. Ouch with a capital "O!" My new periodontist told me up front this same service would be $87. My treatment plan included a $48 charge at each visit for "oral hygiene instructions." This feels unethical to me, like throwing charges at a wall to see what pays. If not insurance, it's the patient. While my dentist was engaging and knowledgeable, the warm fuzzies faded quickly when I later considered the treatment plan and cost. Urgency was implied to get me to pay for an uncovered deep cleaning and the care plan took services away from my trusted general dentist (extraction) under the guise of one stop shop convenience. I went back to my general dentist for the extraction, noting their base charge for this was more than $120 per tooth less than here. Dental work is expensive. Insurance helps a little. My questions to the desk staff about insurance were either ignored or given vague, unhelpful answers as I was redirected to other matters. I was able to secure a treatment plan with *estimated* costs after insurance. I'd already made my mind up to go somewhere else. I don't think this is a private equity-owned practice, but I felt more like a mark than a patient. Not recommended.

My complaints: Long wait with no explanation. I was waiting in the dentist chair for 30-40 mins with no clue as to whether a hygienist would be in to do a cleaning next or finish up the x-rays or if it was time for the Dr. to do an exam. Furthermore,for majority of the wait there was no staff around to even ask what was going on. Dr. Terada was rough with me. The exam and the scaling were painful (which I understand cannot be completely avoided and I was to blame because my habits had been bad). I would have chalked that up to a learning experience except Dr. Terada said (curtly) "Does that hurt? Well, I bet you'll start flossing and brushing better from now on"........... She did not follow up with any advice on better technique or products or anything. Basically, I just got a complaint from her about my bad habits (!) I have since worked with a dentist who explained exactly how to brush and floss correctly (yes, there is technique to it and few parents/professionals seem to *actually* teach this to young people)

But, my experience here was wonderful. When measuring the depth of the gum tissue she was taking her time and somehow made it hurt less than other Dr.'s. It wasn't painful at all and Dr. Pam and her team treated me awesome. And, I drink too much soda so I'm sure my teeth are not perfect. Financially it didn't seem like highway robbery either. :)

I was referred to him back in 2015 by my amazing chiropractor, Dr. Randy James. At the time, I had been living with constant pain behind my right ear--24/7--for over 10 years. My regular doctor had tried everything without success. That's when I discovered neuromuscular dentistry, and it completely changed my life. It turned out the root of my issue was the alignment of my teeth. Over several years, Dr. James worked to align my neck properly on my spine, while Dr. Caulfield used a specialized orthotic appliance to bring my teeth into the correct position. It was a delicate balance--any misalignment in either area would throw the other off. But eventually, through this combined approach, I became completely pain-free. Now, we've entered the next phase: restoring my teeth to their ideal alignment. Dr. Caulfield has been amazing through this process. I'll come in and say something like, "This one tooth is hurting," and he'll immediately explain how it connects to a specific muscle or alignment issue. Then he'll make a small adjustment, and just like that--problem solved. I would never go to another dentist. When I first started seeing Dr. Caulfield, I drove an hour each way to see him. Now that I've retired and moved farther away, I travel 2.5 hours one way for my appointments. Thankfully, most visits are just for cleanings now.
