Based on an appointment reminder text, I arrived at the salon for a 10:15 haircut. When I arrived I was told that my time slot was at 9:00 and the door was closed in my face. Later that day, the owner, Denise Pukas, called me at home and was extremely hostile. She told me that it wasn't Mahogany's responsibility to put down the correct time on the reminder text. Really? Bad P.R. to say the least.

I always go to the Cutting Edge and have always had a good cut despite the fact that I was growing my hair out from very short to now shoulder length. It may be in an older building (Camden is an historic town) and many of the people here are retired, but I get far more value here than many of the places I have had my hair cut. In SC I pay $65 for a cut and blow dry and paid $85 last winter on a cruise ship but the best cut I have had in recent years was by Melanie at this salon for $35.00. She will be cutting my hair again on Friday. As to parking, it is very easy as it is right in front of the building, and should it be tourist season, there is still plenty of free parking within a few blocks.

She sat me down in the chair didn't even brush my hair and just started chopping. I stopped her and asked her "are you not going to measure my layers" she took it as a joke and was laughing and said I don't know how they do it in Texas but if you know what your doing you don't need to measure it. She didn't even pry my hair in sections. She literally was just chopping away. My hair cut usually takes 45 minutes and Yvonne took 15 minutes. I have wavy/curly hair and normally they have to blow dry it straight after the cut to check if all the layers is even.... Nope not her.... She even told me does your patients question you when you treat them?? HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!!!! As u can see the two sides just have chinned blobs! She BUTCHERED my hair. And after the service she had the nerve to tell me it's ok you still have plenty of hair left. You can come back if you don't like it..... I have never been this livid with a hair cut. She shouldn't be allowed to hold scissors near anybodys hair. I posted more than one photo that won't post on Yelp so please look at more pics on the google review

She took a few days to reply, but this was 90 days in advance for a Thursday wedding. No big deal. I walked in, and was immediately greeted and offered something to drink. Waited less than a minute for my stylist, Amelia, and we went to work. Showed her my hairstyle, and she set to work. She did *precisely* what I asked for, but I've never done that hairstyle before...and I hated it. Mini mental freakout, admitted I didn't like it, and she said, "No problem! We have TONS of time. Really. This happens all the time. Don't even worry about it." She redid my hair about two more times (total time spent on my hair was 45mins), and it was finally perfect. She said, "I'm doing something back here (on the back of my head) that you didn't ask for, but I think you'll like it. It's very "bridal"." She was right. My hair was perfect. Afterwards, she moved me to do my makeup. She gave me a granola bar and more water, reminding me I wouldn't be eating for hours, and we chatted about tons of stuff while she didn't my makeup.
