My sweet cat Clyde suddenly became very ill on Thursday, May 7, 2026, and Kelly said to bring him right in. She and Greta were so kind. They said they would call me later, after Dr. Deck checked him out. Well, Dr. Deck actually called - it wasn't good news but Clyde was treated and kept overnight. He worsened Friday and Kelly said I needed to come in right away. She was lovely, hugged me, and brought Clyde to me. He was going to have to be put to sleep but I spent time with him. Kelly took some photos of me and Clyde. She shaved some of his fur and put it in a little bag with his name on it. I couldn't stay as my neighbor brought me and was waiting plus Kelly wasn't sure what time Dr. Deck would be in to do the procedure. I called later that afternoon and Clyde was gone. But Kelly told me that Dr. Deck had made an impression of Clyde's paw for me. She said it was "really cool". I will pick it up when I take my other senior cat, Freddie, in to check his blood sugar. Do not bring your pets here. We've been loyal customers for the last 5 years and KELLY completely told me to screw off after they made a mistake while examining my dog (after having an appointment booked for 2 months) and as my dog is limping now because of something Dr. Deck (the owner) missed and now they won't make it right. Their prices are super high in a very low class area but we've been bringing our dog there for 5 years now because it was the closest to our house. Shame on them for making a mistake that has now turned in to a bad issue with my pet and not making it right. All we were asking for was them to check and trim his nails and they can't get us in for 5 DAYS!!! read more

Dr. Kennedy at Deck Vet Clinic has been perfect with my two cats. She's friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. I've brought in my friendly young cat and my shy older cat, and both cats were totally comfortable there. Our visits accomplished what we needed healthwise. This is the second 1 star review I've left on Google...the other 20+ reviews are 5 stars. It takes a lot for me to leave a 1 star review. My brother and I have brought our dog, Ryatt, to Deck for the last 5 years. We brought him in for a normal checkup and wanted them to also trim his nails and check his legs cause he they were shaking and he had a small limp. When he picked him up he was told everything was done and everything was fine. When he got home he realized his nails were not trimmed and limp was still there. All he asked for was to at least get him back in to trim his nails and they would not see him again until next week. I've referred around 4-5 people that live around me to them and will make sure they all know this as well. They are for sure overpriced, but dealt with it because they're down the street. Extremely frustrating and will be finding a new veterinarian. read more

This is the best veterinary clinic in Louisville! The staff is so friendly and makes every visit such a great experience! Eileen (Dr. Kennedy) has treated all of my dogs (3) and cats (3) and they love coming to visit! Noticing a very sick senior cat in the morning, I had not yet visited a veterinarian since moving to Kentucky 9/19. After being a patient for just a few months, my dog got incredibly sick. I called for an appointment, and after describing fever, lethargy, and vomiting, I was told that they were completely booked for two weeks and I was just out of luck. Just like that. No suggestions as to alternatives-not even an "I'm sorry your dog is so sick." Absolutely nothing but a total brush off. I called our previous vet-an hour away-and he worked her in that day. She had pancreatitis that could have killed her, and Deck Veterinary Clinic completely blew me off. read more

Absolutely cannot recommend Dr. Deck enough. I've been through several vets before ending up here and always felt unsatisfied after leaving and like the issues I brought weren't ever really solved. That is not the case with Dr. Deck. He goes above and beyond to solve any issue I have with my dogs, and has been successful treating one of my dog's skin conditions that 3 vets before him couldn't. His prices are very reasonable compared to other vets and he always takes the extra time to provide the best level of care we've had the pleasure of receiving. Bonus points for my dogs loving him. I have been taking my pets to Dr. Deck for 15 plus years and I can honestly say that the thought of taking my pets anywhere else causes me great anxiety. While I prefer Dr. Deck, I will not hesitate to see any of the vets in his office. Dr. Deck is very thoughtful, kind and his practice is always spot on. Dr Deck has been seeing my cat that I rescued since 2005 and saved her life twice but she us going to be 18 this year and my apartments was going to make me get her a rabies shot which I didn't want to get because she didn't do well with the shot three years ago but he would not write a note saying she was too old. I took her to another vet who didn't even know her. She examined her and said she was very healthy for her age but she put the animal first and wrote a letter saying it was not a good idea because of her age and kept her from getting sick or even dying The animal should come first over money for vaccinations . The pet should ALWAYS come first. This vet probably saved my babies life ! read more

Dr Deck is amazing and Dr Gunn no longer works there, if it helps..I think I know why now. Dr Gunn did wonderfully with our cats but we had no dogs to attest to. All animals react differently, just like people to anesthesia unfortunately. I am absolutely horrified at the story on Dr Gunn but all of the cancer treatment my boy had was done by Dr Deck and he did awesomely. Dr Kennedy is the newest doctor there and she has just been fabulous, she did have to put one of our older and very sick cats who had cancer down, and that was a hard thing, and she was very compassionate about it. She's been awesome with all three of our girls so far as well. I have to state, I have been going to Dr Deck since he was working out of the back of an old building just starting out, that is fifteen years of personal experience with this well trained, continuously updating his skillset vet. He is the most compassionate person out there. Period. I am so sorry that the one reviewer had a horrid experience. I am certain they happen, and I've had bad vet experiences too, which is why I only bring them here now. But to call Dr Deck a quack, could be grounds for defamation as clearly this Dr did not work on the animal himself and it is obvious the issue lies with Dr Gunn A previous vet at another location, who was looking at my baby kit actually broke her toe during examination in front of us, I've got no qualms telling it like it is to people either when my pets are hurt, but I put the blame for that on the vet who did it, not the office he owns in that situation. I really hope people read the reviews here and consider the situation itself. They could have lied to the owner completely. Chances are they were keeping the dog there, monitoring him with equipment that was removed prior to the owner demanding back the animal and trying to stabilize him. At least I hope. read more

They're so nice, and they treat pets so well. We've seen both Dr. Deck and Dr. Kennedy and they're both phenomenal. My yorkie can be kind of hard to deal with, but they're always so patient and sweet to him. I highly recommend this place! read more

Took excellent care with our exotic scale baby! We took our Bearded Dragon to Dr. Deck for parasites. They handled our dragon gently and Dr. Deck was very knowledgeable and made us feel at ease. We left with medicine same day and he told us if we needed any help administering the medicine to our dragon we could bring her back in for free. As prior experience with exotic vets I was expecting a hefty bill but I was happily surprised at the reasonable price! We now always use Dr. Deck for our exotics! read more

I seldom give reviews, as I believe most establishments do not deserve or warrant them. I can gladly say this is not so for Dr. Deck and Clinic. I first came into contact with the good Doctor regarding euthanizing my cancerous cat -- my family took her there and received modest pricing. I should say we were quite surprised to find he had saved my cat's life by amputating her leg, hence extending my cat's life by many years. Further, in 2010 I urgently took my seizing dog, Rocky, to the clinic in the hope he could be saved. Alas it was not so -- he died that night. At the time I was under 18, and I think from emotional trauma no one in my family had the heart to pick him up. Several years later (this very day (03/18/2016!) I called and asked if they still had the ashes. They did, and furthermore they were ready with them the moment I walked in the door. Rocky was interned in a nice, solemn urn and then placed inside a black bag alongside his collar. Thank you for keeping him and thank you for saving my cat. read more

My yellow lab turned four years old today, no thanks to this bunch of quacks. I took him in at about 10 weeks old for a simple tooth extraction. Got a call a few hours later from Dr. Gunn, who in my estimation shouldn't even have a license to groom animals. "He was clinically dead for about a minute, but we revived him." "Can I come get him?" "No, he's still coming around but I'm keeping an eye on him." Of course I headed down there immediately. After waiting about two hours, I demanded they bring him out so I could take him elsewhere. They brought him out in a cardboard box lined with a towel: whimpering, scared, and in pain. It was "Doctor" Deck's day off, but he finally came in because he was notified that I was throwing a big fit in his waiting room. I took the dog immediately to the Animal Emergency Center in Louisville, where they immediately put him on fluids, did some tests, and gave him some drugs to help with his discomfort. He was in Category 1, "Grave" of the coma scale. A thousand dollars and a day later, he was fully recovered. The attending said if it'd been much later, he wouldn't have made it. Giving Gunn the benefit of the doubt: the dog reacted badly to anesthesia, and that happens. I don't think that was the case, but let's assume so. So how do you treat him? Let's stick him in a box with a blanket. Make his owner wait. Put up a defense when they want to get him competent care elsewhere. No, God no, we wouldn't want to say something like "this is beyond our range. Let's get him to an intensive care facility where he can be properly cared for" I have a happy, healthy 4-year old lab named Jake, sound asleep and upside down on the couch. If I'd left him at Deck's Veterinary Clinic, I have no doubt he wouldn't have made it through that night. But at least I'd have had a box and towel to bury him in. You may love Dr. Deck, but this is my story. And I have every bit of paperwork to back it up. read more

We bring our great dane to The Deck Veterinary Clinic and we could not be happier. They truly care about animals and provide excellent care for reasonable prices. Our girl mainly sees Dr. Deck for planned visits, but had a stomach bug and saw Dr. Kennedy, and we were thoroughly impressed with her as well. She even called us the next day to check up on her! They are focused on the health of your pet and don't try to get you to order unnecessary expensive tests/procedures (I had a problem with this with my last vet, and am so happy to have found a truly honest and compassionate clinic like Deck!).
