I've been a client of Sanctuary by the Sea for over a year and a half, and I highly recommend the…read moreservice to anyone interested in adding help and support to their life. For me, it's been a worthwhile investment. I'd seen other therapists in years prior, and while I appreciated how valuable the process could be, I never truly felt that I could be my authentic self in session. And when you can't be wholly honest and comfortable with a therapist, it's not going to work out. That changed when I started working with Crystal. My life has changed greatly and positively in the past 18 months. Our therapeutic relationship has played a big role in my growth. Crystal has a lot to offer beyond her educational, training and service experience. Of course credentials are important, but for me the most significant quality I was seeking out was someone with whom I felt comfortable and ... real, for lack of a better word. She is one of the most empathic, warm and accepting people I know, and her ability to support you just as you are, in whatever stage of life you find yourself, is really powerful. My perspective on life - and on myself - changed when I realized that I had guidance from someone who did not judge me or require me to be anything other than who I am. Likewise, I've learned of the importance of human connection and love. My relationships have improved because of this. Not because of any sweeping changes I made, but because I learned how to communicate better. And it's gone a long way. Crystal's specialties are working with trauma, eating disorders, anxiety and LGBT identity, among others, and I can attest to how helpful her approaches have been. We tried a few different modalities and settled on the ones that work for how I think. Therapy is like having a coach help navigate through life, both the stresses and the successes. I believe it's something than can help anyone, and it's not just for 'crazy people' ... though I admit I held that belief for years before I realized that I was wrong. I very highly recommend Sanctuary by the Sea for therapy and counseling. You'll be working with someone who has found her purpose in life, and that's a cool thing to be a part of and to benefit from. I undoubtedly have. I hope you do too.

I reached out when I felt our son needed someone to talk to about his feelings as he was separated from friends and sports, and overwhelmed with online learning. John was absolutely the best! Since John works with kids, he had a program suited for the pre-teen age group and their emotional needs/communication that didn't feel "childish" to my 10 y/o. After about 2 weeks (1 session a week) , our family dynamic changed for the better. And the next time we saw family, they commented on my son's maturity and communication style being leaps beyond previous encounters. As parents we want to be able to provide everything our kids need, but leaning on a caring outsider like John to provide guidance felt like we invested in our child's well being for life.!
