He assured me that all would be well, which is what I needed to hear in that moment. They were all so kind and accommodating when I went to their site to remove my belongings from my car. Dealing with Connie on the phone was delightful. She helped me with my questions and was empathetic to my insurance woes. This service is highly unethical in its towing even towing a vehicle that is authorized to park in an area just because the sticker was removed by someone else! No curtesy contact of owner just towed (at 11:30 PM on a Saturday) charging stowage high fees ($50 a day) plus $175 towing fee. I went to my favorite yoga studio in Clemson, Solshine Yoga, and after class, I noticed my car was no longer in the parking lot. Death Valley Towing had illegally towed my car, and the yoga studio confirmed this to the Clemson police officer. The police contacted Death Valley Towing, who then admitted the car was wrongfully towed. The police requested the return of the car, but Death Valley Towing refused, insisting that someone come to pick it up at night. Unfortunately, the police officer couldn't retrieve the car because it was towed outside of their jurisdiction into another county. The instructor from Solshine kindly offered to drive me to get my car, as the police officer agreed it wasn't safe for me, a small woman, to go alone at night . The police considered the situation serious enough to involve an officer from Oconee County to assist with retrieving the car. When I got the car back, it wasn't operating correctly. The manager promised the owner would call the following Monday to make this right and they have failed to do so. I believe this is a very shady company, and i believe people should be concerned that they are putting young women into dangerous situations by making them retrieve their cars in remote locations. This seems like a dangerous predatory action. Thanks to the kind officers from Clemson and Oconee police for their efforts in helping me get my car back. Just found out they towed my broken down car from my old apartment complex a week ago. I called to see how to get it back, and was told by the woman on the phone that it would be $520 today, and another $50 would accrue DAILY until I can get it out, or they begin the process to keep the vehicle. I will not be able to hand Death Valley Towing $1000 for my vehicle in a week. Death Valley Towing make a living exploiting broke college students. This is not Christian behavior or business practice, and has no place in the Upstate. If you need someone's car towed from your property, be merciful and don't do it through these people. read more

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Death Valley Towing towed my car from my own apartment building's garage even though I am a paying resident with a valid parking pass. The only reason this happened is because I had my car detailed that day and forgot to re-hang the pass from the mirror--it was still clearly visible on my side door - it wasn't like I did not have it in the car. Instead of showing any kind of sympathy or basic decency, they charged me the full $180 and wouldn't even consider reducing the fee by a single dollar. I understand rules, and I would have accepted a fine, but the complete lack of courtesy or flexibility when I had proof and photos of my valid pass is beyond unethical. This is a predatory business that takes advantage of technicalities rather than treating people with fairness and respect. read more

On the prowl for student vehicles they can hook up and go. Earn themselves an easy 170 a pop. Funny thing is they have the contracts with the apartments but clearly only do their "job" when they need a cash influx. Predatory business that pays for their boat off of poor college kids. Not only was I towed out of my own driveway next to a random car with no parking pass (I have one) during parents weekend, but the towed my friend today who had a medical device they needed in the vehicle that they had no urgency to bring when we told them he needed it asap. Their lack of urgency almost made him end up in the hospital. If we had not improvised and moved quickly, he could've died which we mentioned to them and they didn't care - in fact they hung up on us after we very calmly and politely explained the situation to them. Had something happened to my friend tonight, they would all be in jail. Absolute predators with no common sense and lack any human bone of decency. Police report has been filed and legal action is currently underway, this is absolutely unacceptable behavior. read more

This company is illegally obtaining cars by practicing predatory towing throughout Clemson. They also charge a way higher price to pick up your car than the median and average in South Carolina. A friend of mine is starting a class-action lawsuit against them soon. If anyone has any evidence or stories of Death Valley Towing taking advantage of them leave the reviews here. Absolutely horrible business. No response from the owner. They towed my daughter's car because she was ONE letter off when she called it into the "do not tow list". They are charging her over $300 because she switched 2 letters when calling it in. Predators! Find someone else!!! read more

Car got towed because tow truck driver was literally on the prowl looking for cars to tow. I was at my friends apartment for maybe 30 minutes and I know that nobody called to tow it bc there were plenty of open spots. $164 to get it back, which is insane to me considering their targeted population is college students. Front desk worker also threatened me with harassment charges bc my boyfriend called their dispatcher multiple times (which I apologized for) and he told me she was "tired and didn't want to work now" and it was "affecting their relationship with ccpd". read more

Predators and parasites on the student population. They have some "sticker system" with the local slum lord "Tiger Properties". They have towed my son, in error, twice from his apartment complex that he as an active lease with. It would be really easy to fix by matching permission to park with leasing periods and tag numbers, but they would rather prey on lawfully parked students instead. It is $160 a pop to get your car out of their lot, which, from my research is an exorbitant profit margin for towing services. I guess that helps with the boat payment. The owners and management of this place should reconsider their lowly place on this earth. They should also revisit their procedures regarding their dodgy sticker system with the slum lords around town. Death Valley Towing (and Tiger Properties) are not upstanding and honest members of the Clemson community. They should be shunned and shamed whenever they come in your neighborhood. Make it difficult for them to prey on students. Also, by the way, they sneak around your neighborhoods in the wee hours the morning (4am). In my years being a student at Clemson, I have never had more fear in my heart than seeing a Death Valley Towing truck drive down the road. Most of the time, I have had incredibly good experiences with them. However, I lived in an apartment complex that was extremely limited on parking (like all of Clemson), and many people would park in my designated spot without a pass, which left me (someone who pays to live and park there) without a parking spot. When I called Death Valley Towing about this issue, I was spoken to in such a rude manner that made this my only Yelp post. It made me lose a lot of the respect for these people in one 30 second phone call. read more
