Downstairs you have the open kitchen where the chefs prepare the delicious fresh food. Upstairs is the dining area and the first thing you will notice is that the entire restaurant is covered with woodcarvings on the walls, figurines and lovely orchids. The food is really very good and it tastes very authentic. I've not been to Thailand yet, but friends of mine who have, say that it's very close to what the food in Thailand tastes like. The presentation of the food is very appealing, in nice decorated white and blue porcelain platters. When you order an orange juice, lychee or coconut juice you will love the way they present that too. Since I heard it was for take-away, I went on a day I knew I was going to pick it up to eat at home - just a warning to anyone that wanted to sit and eat, there's not really a place for that. What can I say, the reviews on the Dutch site were all spot on - the ladies are so sweet (put me in a chair with a Thailand coffee-table book and fed me some cherry tomatoes while I waited) and the food was excellent. I got the spring rolls, chicken green curry and pad thai and it was all great. I asked for it to be spicy (as in Thai spicy, not Holland spicy), and they were worried about the heat level so they gave me a little portion of tapioca with coconut milk in case the Thai peppers were too overwhelming (which they weren't). In any case, I never review places, but Irawady wasn't in Yelp yet and I didn't want this little place with the kind owners and great food to go unnoticed. Highly recommended!
