The staff at Rodriguez Funeral Home completely understands that you are going through a tough time. What I liked the most about them is that I never once felt rushed. Picking a casket and ceremony cards were made easy. They let us cry when we needed to cry and let us ask questions when we needed answers. The staff was very helpful. The room for the viewing was small but very pretty. Soft tunes were playing in the background. We had a collage of family photos on a board which the staff put up for us in the waiting area. We also had the choice of playing a homemade slideshow on a small TV. Family and friends don't have to worry about parking. Parking on the sidewalk is allowed as well as parking on both Erie and J streets. On the day of the funeral, the limo arrived on time to pick up the family. The driver again, did not rush us one bit. We were still trying to get ourselves together and he completely understood. The staff at Rodriguez took care of flower arrangements as well as transferring the body from the morgue to the viewing then to the cemetery. All of this done so we won't have to make the calls. I've been to viewings before where the deceased looked unlike themselves. I could say my dad looked great. He looked exactly like himself and as though he was simply sleeping. Dealing with my dad's death has been one of the hardest things I've had to overcome, but the Rodriguez staff took some worry off my back. We did everything a step at a time and it all turned out beautifully.

And if I am approached by a cemetery worker, I expect to be treated with hospitality and accommodation, not a confrontation. Apparently, they don't like it when you bring a camera in. However, when I reached out to Campanola from Georgia to make arrangements to transport my father's body back to Philadelphia Andrew could have not been more comforting in his words and coordinated the transportation of my dads body with the funeral home in Georgia with ease and great care which was comforting for my family. By the time I arrived to Philadelphia Andrew had taken care of everything and had all the information I needed to complete funeral arrangements. I will forever be grateful that Andrew went above and beyond to secure the military honor guard from New Jersey for dad as no one was available in Philadelphia. I was impressed with them obituary and prayer cards provided at the service which truly embodied who my dad was. In addition, the cost of the services were reasonable for which our family was grateful about given the additional cost of transporting the body and traveling from Georgia to Philadelphia were dad wanted to be buried. The space for the service was disappointingly small and overflow was in a next door room with TV monitors. When we began making arrangements with the funeral director, he ran through options very fast with us, and seemed annoyed that we needed some time to discuss among ourselves. His coworker or assistant was equally cold and dismissive of us with any questions we had. It was embarrassing and disappointing to hear from several people attending the service, or calling in, that they dealt with rudeness from this establishment. These are situations that require compassion, patience, and care, none of which was demonstrated by the staff. They are the experts, not the customers, and the customers should be treated patiently, as they navigate an unfamiliar and emotional process. Instead, we felt like school children being scolded. It was awful. The only positive was that the female that works there, did an amazing job with making our loved one look natural. Unfortunately, when I thanked and complimented her, I was met with barely a response back. I would never use this place again.

We chose Rakowski's because of the close ties to the community, and from the minute we walked in Andrew was professional and comforting. He led us through the decision-making process without any pressure and he made helpful suggestions when we didn't know what to do. His funeral home is lovely; a mixture of classic warmth and modern conveniences. Several of our guests commented that there were thoughtful touches that you wouldn't think of until you needed them. For example, there is a coffee bar area in the back, there is a comfortable chair tucked away if you need a moment alone, and there is a bluetooth speaker for playing your own music choices. Andrew stayed in close contact for when we had questions, and he competently handled every detail, even guiding our 25 car procession to through a huge traffic jam on I-95 to get us to the cemetery in Newtown on time. We are so grateful to Andrew for making such a difficult and emotional time go as smoothly as possible. My dad would definitely have been impressed.

There are probably other fees there on top of the lot cost, so please call them and inquire. The cemetery is old, but nicely maintained. There is even wildlife walking around. On my two visits there I saw a beaver, a bunch of previously unseen birds, some rather bold squirrels, too. I go here to enjoy a quiet evening and to ponder Philadelphia's history through its deceased inhabitants. Thinking about the meaning of it all goes really well in this place. I like this place a lot. I wish I could work there. The management of the cemetery takes a rather unorthodox approach to marketing. They refuse to have a web presence. They don't want a website or social media, even when it is offered to them for free. I wonder if that will spell doom for this place sooner that it deserves.

We had planted bushes as well as flowers that would reappear year after year & things were fine for decades but now for the sake of speed the gang mowers they use have wiped out the entire garden which we replanted and they mowed it over again. Talking with management the place is not doing well, they closed down their greenhouses and killed a decades old passion plant that was so beautiful that they had sold pieces that could be rooted and grow at your home. That was a sin. Everything today is on a steady decline and this graveyard can not escape it because the families who supported it are now buried there. Regardless it is worth considering for your loved one.

Twice it was intended for my brother and I both to possess the POA with the first one being done incorrectly. At the time of my mother's passing, we learned that Len notarized yet another POA with just my brother's (Dawn husband) signature. He has since refused to provide us with a death certificate after he took over our mother's funeral arrangement (in doing so, it went against her written will).
