Finding a good funeral home is key to the grieving process as well as ensuring a good departure for the loved one. My partner's mum passed suddenly on the return from our vacation to my mountain home. A shocker to everyone. The way our society has it scheduled, the process of grieving has to be done hand-in-hand with the business transactions that accompany dealing with an undertaker. That can add a substantial burden to the family, especially in the many cases where the funeral director is less than reputable. My partner's family went with this funeral director through a recommendation and it was a great recommendation for sure. John handled every detail with courtesy and aplomb, besides a welcoming serenity that made the business process second-nature. From assembling the viewing in compliance with every family dictate and wish, to scheduling the funeral details and post-funeral dinner, every detail seemed seamless. Frankly, I hope that I don't have to deal with another mortuary director. But in this case, everyone felt at ease through the demonstrated competence of the funeral director, which made the mourning process much more bearable. Kudos to him.

John was so very gentle with me. Everything went so easily and smoothly. I felt in very capable and kind hands. Within a day or two, after I had made the arrangements and left, John contacted me because I had left a ring on my mother's finger, and he asked me if I wanted it. Also, my requests around the ashes were a bit unusual and he was able to make sure everything I wished for was accomplished. We learned that my brother passed away tragically and to be honest, we had no clue where to start. The rest of our family is all spread out so we did everything we had to do by phone. I was tasked to choose and contact a funeral home for arrangements. A quick google search showed that White-Luttrell was the closest to where my brother lived and had 5 star reviews. I picked up the phone on a Sunday morning and Jason answered my call. Again, having no clue what to do, what they would need, what I needed, what my last name was, or anything... Jason had such a kind and welcoming presence and it was much appreciated. Jason walked me through everything including what to expect next, when they would receive my brother from the county coroner, when we could expect his ashes to be ready, when the death certificate would be ready, and even filled out all the paperwork for me and simply needed my signature. I couldn't believe how seamless he made such an emotional process. My sister and I showed up 5 days later to meet Jason in person and retrieve the remains of our brother. While there, we were treated with the utmost respect and even humor, cause that's how my siblings and I have always been, laughing at all times (it's a great way to keep from sobbing 24/7). It was a fast visit. Jason had all the paper work prepared for us again, and we picked out a small urn for my brother's girlfriend. Signed some papers and swiped a credit card (FYI, cremation services are surprisingly way less money than I would have expected) and were headed out to learn to live with one less sibling.
