She spent a full half hour on the phone with Me, talking at great length about our bearded dragon, and answering all sorts of questions. We had been concerned at some recent glass surfing behavior, and other things. She filled me in on all of her findings and possible next steps, she doled out brilliant knowledge that all lines up with best practice for bearded dragons, and I was belly laughing at certain points because she's funny. Follow up visit I received very good care for my dog post his dental extraction. I was told that the vet veterinarian did all the extractions while the tech did the anesthesia, etc. This is legal and as I told the Vet, I would've appreciated the involvement of the tech before. She agree and I imagine we modify her pre-Surgery communications to include the role of the tech. Disclosure and transparency are essential in any professional practice. read more

I made an appointment for my guinea pig, Gus, for a check up and nail trimming. They helped me book it within a week time span, June 24. When I arrived, I had to call them to come out to pick up my guinea and bring him in. They do not let people go into their clinic, you call their phone number and they come to you. This is when I had to hand off Gus to them to bring into the clinic. I had to fill out some basic information and contact information about Gus. I didn't realize there were 2 pages to fill out so when I called for the front desk to come take the papers, she said I had to fill out the second page as well; which I felt dumb for not flipping the page over. Thankfully they were understanding and I filled it out and turned it in. The check up and nail trim took about 15-20 minutes, this includes the paper work. The vet then called me to let me know any health concerns about my guinea pig's age like his weight, teeth size, etc. We were the 3rd guinea pig they had that day, which was nice to hear! Not many places accept exotic animals like guinea pigs, so I am very grateful that they take guinea pigs and have a lot of knowledge about them. The price for the check up/nail trim was a reasonable amount. My boyfriend and I loved their service and they're always friendly, would recommend this vet clinic if you have guinea pigs! read more

I thought Dr. Greenspan was a terrific vet. She's very patient, answered questions well, and was extremely knowledgeable and experienced. She had a great bedside manner and my senior dog seemed at ease with her as well. I also thought her vet techs/staff were all exceptional and very nice. You can really tell they are all animal lovers. The only downside of our experience was that sometimes you have to call/email them several times to remind Dr. Greenspan about things, and even then, she didn't always do what she said she was going to do. I don't blame them too much for this though--Dr. Greenspan is the only vet there, so she is probably spread really thin. read more

This place is very pricey. We were going to Avian And Exotic's in Seaside and I'm probably gonna be going back there because we have rabbits and this place does not offer the RHDV2 vaccinations for rabbits and pricing here is steep. I really don't like that you have to drop your Animal off and then come back at the end of the day. I live in Gilroy so having to come out here two times a day during traffic both ways is pretty brutal. I've only had a few visits here but just for them to have a follow up appointment with my animal was over $400. I had to bring my rabbit to emergency vet last week for numerous issues. So for me to pay over a $400 just for a check up is outrageous. I paid under $100 at Avian. Also when you bring your animal here you cannot go inside you have to call them for them to come out and get your animal. read more

Best Vet I've ever visited. Brought my dog (Argentinian mastiff) in today for some itching and allergies. She gets very nervous at the vet and around new people. Dr. Greenspan immediately put her at ease and instead of rushing any tests and procedures, she spent a generous amount of time petting and getting to know Lucy's complete history. She also mentioned herself that she has an Italian Mastiff and knew exactly how to handle larger breeds. She was very knowledgeable of Lucy's symptoms and provided a host of resources to monitor and treat. At the end, I was only charged for a visit fee. Instead of overcharging me for irrelevant testing, she provided me with the know how to actually resolve Lucy's issues. I'm grateful that I finally found a Vet I feel I can trust. I've mostly encountered Vets that rush and overcharge for unnecessary procedures (like sedation which Lucy was subject to in the past due to her reactivity). Stay away from this Clinic if you have ANY other options. Find a honest one. My pet went through infections and some crew was extremely hungry to sell lab test with over $1k cost, claiming it's important to root cause the infection. She promised the clinic will communicate with me in 3 days and the diagnose will not be completed without the lab results and follow-up. Fine. Guess what? No calls or email after 5 days, nothing. A month later someone claim they emailed me the lab result but never bothered to call me or discuss the infection. Never found it with their daily spam emails. All they care is to push you do the costly lab tests which turns out completely irrelevant. Not sure what happed to this clinic but it's now a shady business with very thirsty individuals, they care way more about upselling & $$$ than your pets' actual health. Stay away. read more

I had a really bad experience at Silicone Valley Vet where I had no choice of bringing my pet bunny for emergency lip laceration repair at 9pm. So, for the follow up on lip laceration repair, I chose De Anza Vet. They did not have an opening but after hearing my concerns about infection at the laceration repair site, the doc saw my bunny when she had a little bit of time in between other cases. I was very happy how the doc called me and took the time to explain the status of the laceration repair and discussed the treatment plan. Staff were also very professional and friendly. My cats have received EXCELLENT care from Dr. Greenspan over the last 10 years. One of my cats has reached the age of 19, so far! The staff is wonderful, kind, and helpful. They have lots of cat food, medications, and more, right on-site, so you can get what you need immediately, if necessary. Love De Anza Vet! I've been bringing my dog Sheldon here for the past 7 years and we have always had positive experiences. Sheldon is a 8 year old Labrador retriever and we've come here for his exams, vaccinations, issues, etc. There was this one time Sheldon got into the pantry and ate a lot of human food and some toxic medication. We were extremely worried and called De Anza Vet immediately. They reassured us and prepared equipment to induce vomiting for Sheldon as we were on the way. Sheldon was safe and happy afterward! We usually see Dr. Greenspan who is super super knowledgeable and very nice! Always a pleasure to speak with her! She gives different solutions to any problems you may have and treats the pets very well. No matter what your question is, Dr. Greenspan will know the answer. Super helpful, we were not even a patient here and they would answer our questions over the phone. Our turtle was laying eggs and we didn't quite know if we needed to do anything. The addresses the immediate questions and found time for a visit in their schedule. I love our dog Rowdy's veterinarian, Dr Sheryl Greenspan. I believe she bought the practice from Dr Brien Bates when he retired. She's very good with/the animals! Our little Jack Russell dog (Rowdy) is SO active & jumps up on people when meeting them. I was worried about him doing that to Dr Greenspan but when she came into the exam room, she immediately sat down on the floor & let Rowdy get in her lap where she gave him lots of petting! I was worried about her being put off by his "wildness" & there was no need to worry, as she said "I love his energy!" Nice way to describe his being so wild & wiggly! She examined him for what we were concerned about (bumps under his front legs & behind one ear),, prescribed some oral medication, & some shampoo to bathe him in twice weekly until the bumps start going away. I advised DeAnza that I was taking her to UCDavis. Asked ONLY for a confirmation of receipt of email. DeAnza will not just confirm. I have to call and threaten to come by just so I know they will cooperate with UC Davis. They won't. It's a good one if you don't care about money. We took our cat here for vaccines, check ups and spay. Everything was good until we paid 1100+ for the spay and our friend told us they only spent 400. To be fair, they got their jobs done, things always went smooth and they did give us the estimate before the surgery. It's just that we are first time pet owners so just went to the best reviewed vet in the neighborhood without knowing the market price for everything. In short, if you don't care about how much you pay, go for it. Just know that there are cheaper choices out there. read more

Still good service!! Dr. Wang treated my baby's bacterial infection on his belly and his yeast infection in his ears. It may have taken some communication to get the best care but she's sweet, thoughtful, and caring. She tends to my dog well. TLDR; Don't walk, RUN from this place. This place is really something else. I've had pets for more than 16 years and never have I come across such a rude tech vet and unprofessional staff. They don't mind wasting your time and they will try to charge you for things you never approved of or asked for. I went to get my two kittens microchipped and left the place paying almost 500 bucks. We had an appointment at 2 PM so we arrived at 1:55 PM and there was no staff on sight to check us in until 2:20 PM... that's at least 20 minutes that we could have spent doing anything else. We had to wait at least another 15 minutes to see the vet after they took the weight and temperature of my kittens so it's 2:45 PM when we finally get to see the vet, which is quite outrageous considering the appointment was for 2 PM. I will admit the vet seemed pretty knowledgeable and answered my questions, she was polite and personable and provided her opinions and gave me a complete checklist of what she recommends I do with my kittens... however, I never asked for that advice and I only wanted to get my kittens microchipped. I was given an extremely confusing invoice afterwards, I approved 2 (TWO) out of the more than 10 procedures they wanted to do and even pointed at them on the paper. The vet tech then took my kittens back and vaccinated them even though I never approved that, she then told us we had to pay regardless because you can't undo the procedure and yelled at us when we mentioned we wanted to speak to her manager as we wouldn't pay for a service we didn't ask for. The tech was extremely rude and kept trying to defend herself in an extremely confrontational manner. When we asked to file a complain about her the manager asked us to voice our complains to her right in front of the tech. We declined as it would only cause more arguments, I am not their friend or their sibling to be yelling back and forth, I am a PAYING CUSTOMER and should be treated with respect and professionalism at all times as I never yelled at her or disrespected her in any way. I just stated I would not pay for a service I didn't want or ask for. It's very disturbing and concerning that the staff acts like this is a high school and not a place of business. read more

I have been taking my dogs here for 2 years. Although there have been a few times the front desk technician was rude when asking me questions, I brushed it off. But today it was not cool. I was promised to get my dog's lab result back within a week. It costs me $350 to do the lab. 3 weeks later I emailed to check on the result, no answer. The next day I called, the technician told me that the doctor was in with another patient. She will call or email me when she can. Fast forward a few hours later, nothing. I called again. Not only did the technician not apologize for the delay. She basically told me off: ma'am we have 2 doctors and 2 technicians, we are doing our best and will get back within timely manner. Let me tell you something: I respect your schedule and because you took care of my dogs well I drive a long way to be there. But you need to respect my time and effort. I did not call to complain. I called to check on the lab results that were 2 weeks late. If you are short staffed, tell me the ETA when I should expect to hear back. And always always apologize for the delay. Short staff is your problem, not my or my dog's. Also my dog needs a prescription. If he doesn't get it in time it will be an issue. Do not ever be rude to customers. Dr. Bates and Dr. Greenspan are fantastic. They bring a combination of compassion and their respective UC-educated knowledge to treat and heal animals, including our family's cat. Dr. Greenspan and staff recently spent a good amount of time with our kitty. What I truly appreciate about the doctors here is how thorough and concerned they are about each pet's health condition. The extra time and attention is so important and goes a long way. We trust this clinic to provide the best care, and unlike other vets, they don't try to push treatments that aren't necessary or over charge anything. I'm so grateful to finally find an amazing vet clinic and someone as caring and thorough as Dr. Sheryl Greenspan. The process, from intake to exam results, went smoothly and timely for my 2 hamsters. The staff were super friendly and willing to help. Dr. Greenspan thoroughly explained what she checked, what she found, and what she recommends to better care for my hamsters. She even gave me a folder with more information on hamsters as well as a sheet of the recommended veggies that I can incorporate into my hamsters' diet and more info on another exotic vet clinic in case of an emergency. I appreciate the fact that Dr. Greenspan provided preventative care and not just "this is what happens to your pet, good luck," because I sure have experienced that at other clinics. I just know that Dr. Greenspan really cares about the animals that she sees everyday and I'm grateful that my hamsters are in good hands. The price to have her cremated was very reasonable and the service we received when arriving at the vet was exemplary. I would highly not recommend this vet clinic. I've had two very negative experiences with the service and communication. The first experience occurred when I scheduled my two kittens for their initial vaccinations. The clinic scheduled the first set of vaccinations but failed to schedule the second set of vaccinations that had to be done within a few weeks of the first shots. When I called to see when the next shots had to be scheduled, they informed me that I would have to do the first set over again because the second set was not done in time. They also had the audacity to have me pay a second time and said it was not their responsibility to schedule the second appointment since they had been extra busy due to COVID and people buying new pets. I gave them a second chance when my kitties needed to be spayed. I made the appointment over a month in advance and asked for the pricing so that I had an idea of what to expect. The lady told me that she didn't have that information on hand and would email me prior to the appointment. I never received an email and called back the day before the appointment. I spoke to someone and she apologized for not getting me that info. She then said she would get it out to me that afternoon and would also call me to ensure I received the quote via email. I never heard back and woke up with an email from 10:04 pm the night before quoting the pricing between $791-$1108 per kitty!!!! I was appalled at the disregard to get this information to me sooner and at the outrageous pricing. I felt scammed and taken advantage of. That morning I called a referral from a friend, The Cat Hospital, on E Hamilton. They accommodated to get me in the same morning after hearing my story from this incompetent clinic. The total charge was $294 for both kitties. The staff was awesome and actually cared. Please do yourself, your pet, and your wallet a favor by not choosing this clinic. read more

Brought my conure here for the first time for feather issues. Dr. Greenespan was so informative when she spoke with me over the phone after his check up. She was attentive and patient, providing me with detailed information alongside her natural compassion. Ripped off for a tiny Conure. Staff is incompetent and flat out rude. This was the third visit, hopefully the last, and during the second visit I was never given an estimate of future service. I spoke to the Dr. Greenspan (close enough) about my concerns about the exzorbant price and she just shrugged her shoulders and offered no solution. It was bad enough that during my second appointment she completely ignored me and only addressed my husband. I'm not sure if that was a ethneticity thing or a gender thing but I let it pass. She really needs to work on her professional maturity and come up with solutions instead of shrugs. Completely disappointed in her ability to be a leader and help when concerns are brought directly to her. Seriously poor custome service and lack of attention to patients concerns. I had a 5 minute appointment and xray for a Conure $89.00!!! I hope no one else gets ripped off by this place. Both receptionists were rude. One didn't know how to use the debit machine and literally threw my receipt at me. The other one chimed in and tried to correct me and she was 100000% out of line and wrong about her information. Jumping in the middle of a conversation isn't right and trying to gang up on a customer who was displeased with an outrageous price is simply poor business. No price list posted. No option to discuss solutions with an adult business owner. Just poor experience all around. I hope to never deal with this vet again. read more

I had to make an emergency visit for my Roborovski dwarf hamster. I called the clinic closest to my house and told them I was pretty sure my hamster was dying and I needed to make an emergency appointment. I was bluntly told they were booked and I would have to wait until Wednesday (two days later). Ummm...yeah, I'll tell my hamster to not die before Wednesday. Thanks. It can be difficult to find vets that treat small animals and I found De Anza through Yelp so I called and they said, while it was late and therefore would be an emergency visit charge of $128 on top of treatments, I could bring her right over. I got my little Mango there ASAP and she was diagnosed with heatstroke and dehydration. Dr. Greenspan was compassionate as I asked what my options were - euthanasia or fluids to see if she can recover. I chose to treat Mango with fluids and hope she would be ok. Sadly, while she did make it through the night, she died in my arms the next morning. I am crushed. She was such a darling creature and I will miss her immensely. The staff and Dr. Greenspan were so kind and caring that if I ever need medical care for my other hamster, I know where I will take her for treatment. read more
